The ratio on Twitter is quite something.

Flames of hate not hat

Gosh that ratio is something to behold. And on Twitter, too.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 23/07/2020 09:54

Ratios are an interesting measure of public feeling.

I'd never thought of that, but, an organisation can get a really good handle on what people think about them from the ratio.

Direct, instant feedback.

Handy.

DrDavidBanner · 23/07/2020 10:16

Thanks for sharing this, I hadn't seen this podcast but I'm so glad this conversation is being had and being shared widely.

I think the speed at which children are being transitioned will be seen as a huge scandal in years to come.

CourtneyLurve · 23/07/2020 10:16

Peaking a lot of people. Thanks MH!

SarahTancredi · 23/07/2020 10:20

They really don't listen or read do they.

Don't lie to people then others getting together to discuss things wont be an issue..... they sre just worried because when said out loud all together its so clear its all crazy.

Deliriumoftheendless · 23/07/2020 10:24

I can’t understand why it’s unacceptable to state some children will grow out of this.

Clearly there are trans people who have known they had dysphoria from an early age but there are many more just trying to work themselves out. Which is what kids and young people need to do- but it isn’t helping anyone to refuse to accept there are many complex reasons why a young teen girl (or boy for that matter) rejects gendered expectations and they are not all “because trans”.

queenofknives · 23/07/2020 10:27

This is exactly what Abigail Shrier talks about on the podcast - this is an issue affecting teenage girls and not really anything to do with trans, or even men, except inasmuch as they are fathers/brothers/care about other humans. This is like a bunch of men's magazines saying that it's hateful to talk about anorexia or trying to shut down discussion about the effects of social media on girls' self image.

wellbehavedwomen · 23/07/2020 10:53

Men's Health, loftily opining on teenage girls' health. Of course.

FloralBunting · 23/07/2020 11:02

That ratio tho. Wow.

Reading that Twitter thread was quite heartening. More and more people taking a closer look at what's been happening.
I'm not a Joe Rogan fan, but he lets people speak. People who come out against that are not on any side I want to be on.

BostonFernGreen · 23/07/2020 13:18

This is the sort of article Men's Health should stick to:

twitter.com/menshealthmag/status/1286244918273417218?s=21

"Butthole visibility is at an all time high, so make sure that it's not visibly crumbly and matted."

Includes fabulous advice eg the shower is the best place to wash your bum.

OP posts:
Deliriumoftheendless · 23/07/2020 13:20

Does Men’s Health run articles on menstruation, pregnancy, menopause etc?

nauticant · 23/07/2020 13:32

I can’t understand why it’s unacceptable to state some children will grow out of this.

The existence of detransitioners is an existential threat to the gender identity ideology. It means that if someone says they're trans, they might be trans, or they might not be. That throws a spanner into self-ID since it then needs to be acknowledged that some self identifiers are not trans. Which means that people will ask "well, if they're not trans, what are they?" We know the answer to that, but the public don't. Not yet, anyway.

If it's accepted that a non-negligable number of children will think they're trans when they're not, then all the early medical interventions have to stop immediately. That's because you can't be sure whether a child really is trans. No "trans kids" loses the trans activists a hugely useful human shield.

@Deliriumoftheendless

www.menshealth.com.au/guide-to-periods

They did this article a couple of years back. Bigots.

KaronAVyrus · 23/07/2020 13:40

Really does feel like we are at a tipping point with all this TRA nonsense. People have really had enough of this guff.

Binterested · 23/07/2020 13:44

They’ve also been ratioed on a thread about ‘breath play’.

All these euphemisms - top surgery for mastectomy, breath play for choking - how stupid do they think we are ?

Deliriumoftheendless · 23/07/2020 13:47

Maybe MH should shut the fuck up until they stop being such massive transphobes, eh?

Nauticant I suppose I kinda know that but I just can’t see how it’s caught on so much.

Winesalot · 23/07/2020 14:01

Oh god collidascope, that article is wrong on so many levels. How to get laid at all times of her cycle!!!! How self-absorbed can you get.

SunsetBeetch · 23/07/2020 14:05

What??? Have Men's Health turned into Teen Vogue?

What on earth has happened to so many formerly decent quality magazines? If they think this sort of woke rubbish sells, they're in for a shock.

On another note: nearly 2 million people have listened to that Podcast. That's great.

FloralBunting · 23/07/2020 14:16

Ok, Men's Health are obviously fuckwits, rightly getting their arses handed them, but can I just enjoy that article reminding men to wash those arses because no one wants to see a bloke's crumbly and matted butthole.

I mean if the guys who need to be reminded about basic hygiene are who Men's Health are pitching to, I'm even more sure I give no fucks at all about their perspective.

DrDavidBanner · 23/07/2020 14:46

Farkin' hell collidascope that article! Where is the facepalm emoji.

R0wantrees · 23/07/2020 16:18

Men;s Health also recently published an article about how to strangle someone for pleasure.

Alex Davies-Jones MP (Labour):

"Strangulation is not sexy, it's a violent, dangerous act!

"I'm horrified to see an article by
@MensHealthMag
that aims to teach its readers how to 'safely' strangulate during sex.

I've written to the Editor-in-Chief urging him to reconsider & remove the article."
(copy of letter in Tweet)

We Can't Consent to This

"This men's mag seem to have published TWO articles on how strangling your partner can be 'safe' sexy fun in a single day"

twitter.com/Wecantconsentto/status/1286307776998907906

Laura Farris MP (Conservative)

"Just weeks after Parliament legislated on exactly this issue, deeply irresponsible journalism from
@MensHealthMag
on this degrading & misogynistic practice. They decline to mention to their readers that if it goes wrong, they’ll face upto 25 years behind bars. #DomesticAbuseBill "

SunsetBeetch · 23/07/2020 16:25

Oh I see. The author actually does also write for Teen Vogue.
