Just came across this on Twitter, great to see

OP posts:

Deadline for joining is 31st. Voting for motions is 1st. Good luck joining, the admin system is a shambles!

GreenieFingers · 21/07/2020 13:07

We need support in the GPEW to dump the infiltrators and the current leadership - SB, JB and AW are completely TWAW and do nothing at all to prevent the internal bullying that stems from the TRAs.

All new members joining by 31st July will be eligible to vote and we need to get the information out there about who is best to vote for.

Apart from everything else, there is little more important nowadays than preserving what we have left of this planet for future generations. We really are running out of time to make a difference. The quicker the infiltrators in the GPEW are removed from their positions of power, the quicker the GPEW will resume Service As Normal and not be wasting time on gender identity politics.

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 21/07/2020 13:16

This is encouraging, although 'we will fight for the rights of trans people according to their assigned gender, too.' is slightly worrying.

Bit like when Labour published a manifesto promising single sex spaces & then 'TWAW!' in the next breath.

Not that I'm saying that the GP shouldn't fight for trans people - of course they should! - but I'd like to be quite sure that didn't include the 'right' to the single sex spaces of the opposite sex, if that happens to be those associated with their 'assigned gender'.

Maybe I'm too cynical! It's a great start & probably enough for me to join. Politically homeless since Labour lost the plot.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/07/2020 13:37

Good plain English too - perhaps it's more obvious to someone from an ethnic minority background how important that is rather than the obfuscatory language and faux confusion of some of the other candidates?

It really isn't complicated.

Dinodana1 · 21/07/2020 13:45

I've just joined. I'll be able to vote as I checked.

I've never joined a party before and had been dithering over the greens. As I know so many who are members! And they've been talking about this coming up. This prompted me to join.

There are many, many GC greens working tirelessly behind the scenes to try to change things. We need more gc women on board to make those changes.

I've been told that you can join and cancel the £3 direct debit later on if it's too much in the current crisis to join for a full year.

Dinodana1 · 21/07/2020 13:46

while it's been capitulating to the apologists for the Challenors, I wouldn't touch it.

I know a little from GC members about how much they tried to deal with this better but were silenced.

I’m in Scotland. If I join can I vote or is it only those who live in E&W?

crumpet · 21/07/2020 16:20

Can anyone point me to more information about Shahrar and Andrea? Am tempted to join so that I can vote, but don’t know enough about either of them. I assume it’s only possible to vote for one?

LouHotel · 21/07/2020 16:32

I'm in two minds about joining to vote.

They are so utterly woke I'm not sure that they are electable in their own leadership battle and I dont want my money to then help towards their propaganda.

Are there any polls to know whose likely to win?

highame · 21/07/2020 16:37

This is my problem too. If the GC candidates don't get elected, the GP will be able to crow about how their membership has grown and therefore 'aren't we going down the right path'.

No thanks

FinallyHere · 21/07/2020 16:45

Thank you for starting this thread. I've just joined the Greens

Does anyone know how to register on their web site. I can see where to login, reset password but not register in the first place.

Shall leave it 24hrs incase they get in touch.

Fingers crossed for Shahrar Ali

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 21/07/2020 16:46

Well, I had a look on betfair and they only have odds on the three bigger parties. Grin

crumpet · 21/07/2020 16:56

This is not about them getting into office though, is it. It’s about loosening the stranglehold that TRAs have on the parties.

highame · 21/07/2020 16:59

The TRA's are reading this and joining in their droves

highame · 21/07/2020 17:00

Sceptical but do hope the strategy works

Dinodana1 · 21/07/2020 17:00

I've grappled with this a lot. I have never joined a party but always voted.

I used to be libdem but can't see any GC libdem anywhere.

Considered WEP. But greens also have policies I agree with.

In feminist circles they're either labour or green as far as I can tell.

Thinkingabout1t · 21/07/2020 17:40

Does that mean TWAW and can use women’s facilities? Or only of they have a GRC? That’s the same as the legal position now, isn’t it?

TabbyStar · 21/07/2020 18:01

You can vote for both, Shahrar for leader and Andrea for deputy.

quixote9 · 21/07/2020 18:10

@ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings

+1 for wondering if it's too late to join the green party to get these people voted in? A party lead by people who support the rights of everyone as enshrined in the equalities act whilst recognising reality and answering straight questions with straight answers would truly be something to behold in this day and age.
It's kind of sad how much relief and gratitude I feel just hearing that there's a couple of left politicians willing to see women.
ScrimpshawTheSecond · 21/07/2020 18:34

we will fight for the rights of trans people according to their assigned gender, too

That is a good point. What does this mean, exactly? Is it just rephrasing self ID?

OhHolyJesus · 21/07/2020 19:15

@highgame good point about the membership but you can just cancel the DD after joining and voting so they could crow about it but membership could go sharply down again.

If anyone decides to join and we end up with TRAs as leaders then don't forget to cancel your direct debit and we'll have to start our own bloody party.

WEP v2. The GC Edition.

Not 100% sure, but I thought he was making a careful and correct distinction between sex and gender. I hope so, anyway.
Dinodana1 · 21/07/2020 19:26

Third spaces?
