Anyone else sick of still seeing Pride logos everywhere?

I don't have a problem with Pride, and its role in raising awareness etc in the way that many campaigns have awareness days/ weeks etc. I can remember when it used to be a week, then it became a month (June). All fine.

But I've just seen John Lewis still has its Pride logo on its Facebook page, as does one of our local council pages and the Twitter feed of a group affiliated to the local police.

Surely the point of a month-long campaign is that it is, er, a month and then you revert back to your usual branding, or else the impact is lost?

I have to confess, some of this is a design and marketing issue for me, as the Pride versions of high street logos are usually appalling - the John Lewis one being a case in point!

Whatever favour you are we are just people so enjoy it your way and no need to justify it to others who are like me open minded and will not be prejudiced against anything that appears different as we all evidently all different in so many ways

That’s great you’re open minded but unfortunately there are large pockets of society that aren’t yet. For me that’s the value of pride and rainbow flags (again, hands up I’m not totally read up on the controversy that’s coming out of the LGBTQ community surrounding the logo/flag).

When you’ve been a victim of prejudice in this way you can understand the issue isn’t about ‘justifying’ its about normalising it. Heterosexuality is normalised and announced all the time, often in subtle ways, because heterosexuality is still assumed in society.

I know this is old, but it's interesting so I'll comment... 'Adult alternative lifestyle choices' - v 1970s vocabulary.. Who people love and have relationships w isn't just a 'lifestyle choice'. It' not simply about sex, who people spend their lives with is much bigger than that - as you surely know. Presumably YOU don't just see relationship as defined by sex only?

I see what you mean re political/polarising, - otoh why is it polarising if you agree w gay rights that is? I agree it's irrelevant and overdone as lgb rights now have been won.

I was referring to the post posted today at 13.47 (so not a zombie comment) saying it was odd for that phone photo to be used for an emergency alert. Why is it odd? What are they insinuating, or is this just something we're to glass over and pretend it's not there unless it's to head nod and agree that it is?

They actually haven't, pal. Other posters have commented generally on this revived zombie thread (one of many such zombie threads) but the two TRA's are the only posters who have actually gone back through the thread and commented on posts from 2020. In 2025.

So I would presume the post from Cake that was just above yours (in the screenshot on my previous post) is about as much as you are going to get on the 'conspiracy theory ' aspect. Given she wasn't actually saying it was a conspiracy.

I was surprised how many there were in London when we were there in July. It’s just not something I see here in Perthshire at all.
