Gender identity is not a 'protected characteristic'

Sex is. Gender Reassignment is.

Women and transwomen do not share a protected characteristic. BUT sex is being ignored in favour of 'gender identity'

I think we are in serious trouble.

I don't think they are using a legal definition of discrimination. I think they're equating the statement with "transphobia" and uninclusive as failing to recognise that "women can be born male", and "can be raped for identifying as female"

But if they do think there's some sort of legal discrimination in putting this wording on a petition, I'd be interested as there may be avenues women and girls could challenge other wording.

Thing is, if a transman was raped TRAs would attribute that to transphobia, if a transwoman was raped likewise.
If a male was raped it wouldn't be because they were female.
The only females who would be raped because they are female would be the good old fashioned garden variety kind of females. And forbidding them from speaking about it as such just makes my blood feel like ice.
