So under Teresa may self id. Now it looks like it's being scrapped. I didn't vote last year. Always felt very strongly about voting. Just couldn't bring myself to vote Labour with their treatment of women. Not that I'm keen on the tories either. However, out the two I couldn't see Labour scrapping it. Feel like it's the Tory party that's the better of the two evils when listening to women's concerns

They and the SDP are the only parties listening.

Only problem is that the Tories have a lot of other policies which hit women hardest.

I feel completely in the wilderness politically.

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd consider voting Tory. I'm so angry at the Labour Party but they'll never get my vote again

OP I feel exactly the same. I’m politically homeless. Lily Madigan was the beginning of the end for me. I was agog/furious/scared at watching JC, LN, RL-B and AR dismantle women’s rights and cast us out as transphobes.

But if the tories continue to back peddle and put an end to this shit show ( which they actually started) I’ll vote for them. I have to put my daughters first

I'm with OP that, on the GRA alone, the Tories don't look too horrid right now. But also, they look and indeed are and have always been on issues that affect disadvantaged groups in general and women in particular on a systemic level.

I, for one, shall not be throwing the baby out with the bath water. I'll hold my nose, vote something vaguely tenable in general terms as one does and will be lobbying the hell out of these people regarding issues on which I disagree with the platform.

I'm not saying my approach is the objectively correct or the only one. I'm saying that this comes down to relative weighting of issues and that I, personally, am too much of a generalist to disregard an approximate shitton of issues on which I vehemently disagree in favour of one which I find personally important and a party mildly doesn't fly in my face about.

I don't think I could ever vote Tory but for some it is single issue, like Brexit, and I have some empathy with that mindset as I just love Liz Truss, I'm really grateful she is doing what she's doing.

I would never vote for anyone who cannot tell me what a woman is. Labour, LibDems, Greens or WEP, if the Tories are the only ones who do know that a woman is an Adult Human Female than I may have no other choice.

Parliament rises on the 22nd July. Caroline Nokes tweeted about the response to the GRA consultation saying Liz Truss was 'bringing forward her response' but as far as I am aware, according to Liz Truss, it was always scheduled to be brought out before the end of this parliamentary session.

So she has just added to the confusion really. I think she meant 'bringing forward' as in it being presented to the House, but her tweet is unclear.

So far the SDP are the only left wing party to have a sensible view on protecting trans rights and women's rights. I hope they take off in their new incarnation, and have joined them to show my appreciation of their policies. sdp.org.uk/policies/ I know some people want to judge them and find them guilty by association for stuff that happened in the past, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. After all Labour, the Lib Dems and the Green party have already said they don't want the votes of non-men who refuse to identify as c*s.

I have also written to Liz Truss thanking her for daring to stand against the insanity and stop the undermining of sex based rights.

I agree, the resurgent SDP is looking promising - at the moment. I’m hoping they don’t blow it.

I think we'll have to wait and see, as we don't know yet what Truss will propose, nor what Labour's response will be.

The SDP may be resurgent to some extent (the 3,000 votes they got in the last election was their highest since 1992) but they don't currently have even a single local councillor... still, perhaps this could change if they continue to gain support. The SDP to me seems much more centre than left. If anything some of its figures like Rod Liddle (who voted Tory in 2017) have a reputation for leaning rightwards, although Giles Fraser is left-of-centre and is a member.

I can understand deciding who to vote for based on a single issue. My voting intentions are now based on a single issue- no to Scottish Independence. I will vote for any party who can keep the SNP candidate out. I've voted Tory, Labour and Lib Dem to that purpose.

I was for many , many years a staunch Labour supporter but I can't see me going back. There are so many vile Labour mps and declared Labour supporters now.

I'm not just referring to gender critical issues but the hard left totalitarianism and intolerance of any view point which doesn't accord with theirs.

Starmer should have sacked Lloyd Russel- Moyle and before that Russell- Moyle's contempt for the democratic process, which he displayed on election night ,shows he is unfit to be an MP. He also seems to have gone unchallenged on anti- semitic ravings. How many more Russell-Moyles are there?

Erm, yes (being reasonably generous here)? ... they've also got a pretty stellar track record of proving that they don't give a flying fuck about people who ... don't. For whichever reason.

That's hardly their aim. The Tories were the party of the Windrush scandal and before that Section 28. A lot more Tory MPs than Labour are anti-abortion. In 2005 only a small handful of Tory MPs were women, but even today only 25% of Tory MPs are women, compared with just over 50% of Labour. And 6% of Tory MPs are BAME, compared with 20% of Labour. (The BAME population of the UK as a whole is 15%, so Labour gets it closer.) Obviously, the Tories have had two female leaders and there's good ethnic-minority representation in today's Cabinet. But still.

Given I'm really old (71). I remember Labour as a real anti women's rights party. There only interest was in men earning a wage to support their families. The TU Movement is still anti women and only ever goes for token gestures. I, my parents and my grandparents have all been labour but I have had masses of family arguments regarding Labours lack of support for women. I spoil my ballot rather than voting for other parties. I was going to vote Lib Dem but they suddenly became really daft woke, so again, spoilt ballot. Life becomes much, much more nuanced when you get older, nothing is black and white anymore. It makes for very interesting thinking

The WEP made themselves irrelevant when they decided women also included males, they then became just a small political party with a left wing agenda and there are quite a lot of them to choose from. I think their leader left them too.

My hope is that by the time of the next General Election the worm will have turned on Proportional Representation
which will force parties to the centre not the extremes
