As part of their support for Pride, £80,000 is being donated to Mermaids.

Mimmymummy is overjoyed.

@fatblackcatspaw We have an Iceland in a Range just up the road. We use them a fair bit but have not tried the delivery. Thanks for the tip.

SerenityNowwwww · 03/07/2020 15:45

We have a few pop up stores opened up near us. They are a bit expensive but it reminds me of ye olde grocery stores.

Sexnotgender · 03/07/2020 15:46

So I can say, in my opinion Owain is a massive wankbadger?

Just checking I’ve got it right.

SerenityNowwwww · 03/07/2020 15:49

I think so.

My dad taught me how to write business letters and although I think it may be borderline, many a recipient has been told '...and finally - personally, Mr X, in my opinion you are XXXXX'. Ah the good old days of general office faxes, I do miss them...

SuckingDieselFella · 03/07/2020 15:52

@Sexnotgender

In my opinion, your opinion is correct.

NeurotrashWarrior · 03/07/2020 16:53

Just want to point out this thread in AIBU if anyone is interested in some of the issues around mermaids.

AIBU to ask what you think about this? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/3957275-AIBU-to-ask-what-you-think-about-this

SecretMillionaire · 03/07/2020 17:15

Until I read the AIBU link I didn’t realise that Mermaids offered residential breaks. As Virgin Money contributes towards this then that’s another company on the list to avoid.

Distractable · 04/07/2020 09:55

How long do the mods take to respond? I reported yesterday but I've not heard anything. Still wondering if I'm allowed to say peak transed.

SerenityNowwwww · 04/07/2020 10:40

I can’t find the list in here if businesses that aren’t ethical.

So - Wagamama (then if the unisex loos) is now supporting gendered intel. They can definitely do one then.

Where’s that damned list?

OldCrone · 04/07/2020 12:21

@Distractable

When I've done this, I've usually had a reply within a few hours, so it would normally be the same day unless I've reported a post in the middle of the night, in which case they've replied the next day. It probably depends on how busy they are, and over the weekend they might take longer.

They reply by email, so make sure you check your junk mail. If you didn't receive an email to tell you about the deletion, it means that they haven't issued a strike for it, though (after 3 strikes they will suspend you).

I'd also like some clarification about what we are and are not allowed to say. "Peak trans" is one term which sometimes seems to be allowed and sometimes not. Also "grooming", which like "peak trans" isn't mentioned on the pinned post, but posts about this are often deleted.

Yubaba · 04/07/2020 12:42

Tesco changed all their email address formats last year.
Dave Lewis email is now just [email protected]

Distractable · 04/07/2020 15:42

Thanks @OldCrone. Just checked my email and give the response. The PT phrase was indeed the culprit in this case.

"It may not be explicitly mentioned in our guidelines, but in this context, we consider the phrase, 'peak trans' not especially conducive to civil debate, which is why your posts were deleted."

Distractable · 04/07/2020 15:42

*found the response

SerenityNowwwww · 04/07/2020 16:08

Why is ‘pork trainers’ not civil? Have they not seen what passes for ‘debate’ on twitter?

Impatiens · 04/07/2020 16:58

"It may not be explicitly mentioned in our guidelines, but in this context, we consider the phrase, 'peak trans' not especially conducive to civil debate, which is why your posts were deleted."

Good grief, someone's heavy handed. Not even in the guidelines but they'll include it anyway, and anything else 'not especially conducive' until everyone shuts up. Hmm

MaryRaddy · 04/07/2020 17:47

@Distractable I think I was the other poster you mentioned that had used the same phrase but not been deleted. Well my post containing that phrase has now been deleted?! Unbelievable.

Xanthangum · 04/07/2020 18:09

@SecretMillionaire

I just had a look at the AIBU thread and I don't think this is correct - the screenshot shows someone raising money for the residentials using Virgin Money Giving which is a platform for fundraising (like BT Mydonate and justgiving).

You can check which philanthropic bodies have made grants to Mermaids at Grantnav grantnav.threesixtygiving.org/

  • mostly Lottery and a couple of Foundations as far as I can see.
Distractable · 04/07/2020 19:43

@MaryRaddy That's a pity! I've been enjoying the alternative suggestions on this thread. PT is still a thing, so people will find other ways to refer to the realisation of the wholesale capture of people and institutions in denial of female biology.

Distractable · 04/07/2020 19:45

*human biology, not just female, but mainly to the detriment of females

ProfessorSillyStuff · 06/07/2020 15:57
