Thats shocking! I thought it might be something like this but not so blatant. They didn’t just tell them they wanted to release a statement they told them want they wanted to put in the statement.

The thing that amazes me is that they had other authors supporting them. They must know that that is unreasonable to do that.

I did feel a bit sorry Fox and Owl bout this shows they lied and are manipulative. As they denied that this is what they did.

Gosh, who'd have thought Blair would refuse the invitation to the struggle session and to refuse to sign the statement thoughtfully prepared for them? Some people are just so difficult.

I must admit I’m a bit dense when it comes to what women go through, but it’s clear to me we are living through intensely misogynistic times. I’m so incredibly sorry you all have to go through all this.

I wish more writers would speak up about this on social media. I know many are genuinely woke but there are also so many who are fairly well known and prominent authors who just say nothing.

I guess if Stephen King is anything to go by, they will continue to do nothing. There is an astonishing lack of principles on display.

I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t include anything about Keir not sacking Lloyd Double-Barrelled-beardy-face for writing a misogynistic article criticising JK when he fired Rebecca LB for simply retweeting an article though.

Good old Private Eye! They sometimes annoy me by their delight in offending anyone, across the board. They just refuse to toe anyone’s line. I don’t think they would cave in to TRA tantrums. And they also do really serious investigative journalism that most big news media don’t dare touch.

It is a very worthwhile publibation.

Private Eye hasn’t always got it right but more often than not they are rock solid at digging away like journalists used to, to get to the truth. They will stick with stories without giving up (see PFI scandals and CSA in high places). They stand their ground and genuinely have principles. I am not at all surprised they are exposing this. It’s exactly what they do.

They do a podcast as well which is always worth a listen (Page 94: The Private Eye Podcast).

Sorry they are ALWAYS rock solid.

Well, I just went to look at their site, and £34 quid a year, for proper free speech and actual truth-to-power journalism? Bargain. Thanks for the heads up - I read every edition before the kids, and it'll be a pleasure to restart that.

Their coverage of the Post Office scandal has been amazing. Most news outlets have only recently mentioned it, but PE has been digging away at this for years. Their focus on the victims, just ordinary postmasters, and exposure of the cowardice and hypocrisy of those at the top has been admirable.
