Ffs. What have amazon prime done? I'm aware of Tesco before the mermaids support but not of anything with Amazon. There will be nowhere left to shop.

Kids Company type day of reckoning is coming.

KC crashed but a lot of the major figures in it seemed to do OK and haven't had much blowback in their careers or personal finances. I can't find the outcome of last year's court case so don't know if she even lost the right to be a company director.

Tesco is currently facing an equal pay claim because store workers (mainly women) are being paid £3 less an hour than warehouse workers (mainly men).

Meanwhile Tesco are supporting the creators of the Barbie/GI Jo Gender spectrum.

Well I suppose 'Every Little Helps' if you want to justify the gender stereotypes that enable the pay gap.

This.

Good grief - every time I think I have ‘peak trans’d’ I read the next thing and there it goes again!! I didn’t like shopping in Tesco anyway but maybe an email to the boss will make me feel better. The thing that makes me sad is that all this energy and cash is going into the trans industry and is hurting so many people but there are still a myriad of disabled, refugee (the Yazidi girls for example), mental health etc etc charities out there that can’t compete with the enormous and insidious reach of the trans lobbies. They are the ones losing out.

ArthurMorgan · 27/06/2020 18:55

I know I'm a little behind but... What the hell are mermaids?

Dhalandchips · 27/06/2020 18:58

Is waitrose safe?

Sexnotgender · 27/06/2020 19:05

@Dhalandchips

Is waitrose safe?
Lol, no Waitrose isn’t safe.
Ninkanink · 27/06/2020 19:13

I shop at Morrison’s, Aldi and Lidl. Sainsbury’s aren’t specifically on my boycott list yet (don’t think there’s been a reason yet) but a little too far away.

So far my supermarket shit list includes

Waitrose/JL
Ocado
M&S
ASDA
And now, Tesco.
Amazon will hurt as we’ve relied on them during lockdown.

I live a one minute walk from a Tesco express. They’ve lost me as a customer, permanently.

Dhalandchips · 27/06/2020 19:25

Oh this is a minefield. I'm disabled so prefer to get all my shopping done, once a fortnight, in one knackering trip.. Where can I go?? I can't do aldi/lidl as I have a dd with bizarre eating habits (long story, trauma) so can only get 'proper' branded items that aren't always available in aldidl.

I always got the impression that it was more ignorance, inflated ego (saviour complex) and stupidity (with a few dodgy apples in the barrel). Mermaids is a whole different kettle of fish.

dementedma · 27/06/2020 19:36

Tesco now boycotted along with Body Shop

Divoc2020 · 27/06/2020 22:34

Oh I'm exhausted from writing emails to companies telling them why I am boycotting them from now on Angry

Can someone please share something I can start with and then edit slightly??

Pleeeease....

Onlyaprawn · 27/06/2020 22:52

I've just cancelled two upcoming orders and my delivery saver plan. We usually spend around £100 per week but I can't shop there now given Tesco's support for Mermaids. What are they thinking? Is Sainsbury's safe?? Their Pride support doesn't reference Mermaids.

LaureBerthaud · 27/06/2020 22:56

Why do Tesco have to be "bursting with pride" about their "LGBTQ+ colleagues"? Why should an organisation be interested in their employees' sex lives?

It's creepy.

Bluebooby · 27/06/2020 23:09

I always preferred Sainsbury's anyway. If they turn puritanical I'll stick to our local independent. I do most of my shopping there anyway. I know not everyone has the choice.

Haleeloo · 27/06/2020 23:24

🧜‍♀️ 💕

Flightofthecondor · 27/06/2020 23:30

Good for Tesco!

SerenityNowwwww · 28/06/2020 00:18

Oh look.

Visitors.

Haleeloo · 28/06/2020 04:06

Meaning?
I’m sorry, are women with different opinions to the majority thread not allowed to express opinions on mumsnet?
I wasn’t aware of this rule.
Since you’re wondering, born with a womb and vagina and all that Jazz.

SistemaAddict · 28/06/2020 07:30

I hope that soon companies learn the truth about who they are supporting and cut all ties so we can all go back to shopping how we were. Ethics and morals have gone out of the window with so many companies. I rely on Waitrose and amazon since lockdown. I'm shielded and don't drive. Asda is local to me and I have £200 of vouchers for there but don't want to spend them.

Flightofthecondor · 29/06/2020 00:51

Ok look bullies.

ComeBy · 29/06/2020 09:18

LOL: Will those assisted in transition by Tesco to become Trans women be happy to work for Tesco for the £3 per hour less that is paid to women?

Where is the voice of Transwomen in supporting equal pay claims?

:listens hard:
:silence:

Michelleoftheresistance · 29/06/2020 11:10

You mean like the loving tolerance and engagement you're showing to others with different views to yours on this thread? Grin

I never get tired of people arriving on threads to demand tolerance that they show none of to others, it makes the very overused and tired 'oh you won't allow different opinions' gambit look so stupid.

Model it. If your values for tolerance and love and inclusion are only for people faithful to your personal politics, those values are worthless.

Michelleoftheresistance · 29/06/2020 11:12

Where is the voice of Transwomen in supporting equal pay claims?

Where is the voice of TW supporting any female issue at all, including fears and exclusion of using mixed sex spaces?

Nowhere. It's like they see TW as something unrelated to females or something.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 29/06/2020 11:18

WTF are Mermaids doing with all this corporate fish anyway?

The actual services they provide to gender distressed kids and their parents seem to be little more than a mon-fri phone line.

I see a Kids Company style cluster fuck on the horizon.
