It's crazy how different the responses men get, isn't it?

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 16:23

True. As an aside - how does he say his name?

Dyrne · 25/06/2020 17:18

Am I missing something? Another thread? A different discussion elsewhere?

How does raising an eyebrow at the fact that someone has gone from berating MN to being “proud” to work with them equate in any way, shape or form to “cancelling” him?

I can’t see any posts here saying that MN shouldn’t be working with him...

SerenityNowwwww · 25/06/2020 18:16

You are just used to the other sides ‘wrong think! They said something vaguely anti xyz in 1972 so should be flogged!’ approach to debate.

NotBadConsidering · 25/06/2020 22:46

I think it’s sad. A union was going to support a large number of women with employment issues but didn’t because of a pile on about Mumsnet’s “transphobia”. Maybe Jolyon can point out to them that differences can be put aside for good causes.

He battered an animal to death and then joked about it. I am aghast that Mumsnet would work with him.

Yes it’s fine to accept that we’ll agree with some people about some things but not others - but this? Killing an animal for fun puts him utterly beyond the pale in my view.

Would Mumsnet work with him if he’d battered a dog to death and joked about it?

picklemewalnuts · 26/06/2020 08:10

@Pigeonfaces not really. A fox got trapped in the henhouse fencing. You aren't supposed to let it go or relocate it. It's not unreasonable, though not what I would have done. I suspect it's what a farmer would have done.

RSPCA investigated and decided it was done swiftly and without causing the fox further suffering.

In typical lawyer fashion he has somewhat misrepresented the law there and I'm surprised the RSPCA swallowed it.

This applies to foxes that have been trapped. As in laying an actual trap and capturing the animal. It certainly isn't in the spirit of the law to apply this to an animal that got tangled in the netting.

PrimalLass · 26/06/2020 09:27

He's a total peni

PrimalLass · 26/06/2020 09:28

Will James Felton twitter shame him? Nah.

RiotAndAlarum · 26/06/2020 09:37

@Deanetta

RiotAndAlarum yes another poster pointed it out after I had posted. I'm normally quite good at identifying sarcasm on the internet but clearly failed on this occasion! Lesson learned!
Ah, don't worry! I was probably just covering my own arse, lest I be cancelled... Grin

JM's latest pronouncements today have determined misgendering as hate speech - no hyperbole or OTT hysteria there at all, no siree.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/06/2020 10:05

not really.

He did indeed batter a fox to death with a baseball bat and joke about it on Twitter. Whatever the legality of it, there's no getting away from what he did.
