It's on. The weather.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 24/06/2020 06:58

Ah just missed it. Heard the tail end of ‘fox’ saying twaw.

StealthPolarBear · 24/06/2020 06:58

Ooh possible thunder where we are

Awning10 · 24/06/2020 06:58

Missed most of it. It finished with Fox Fisher saying that JK needs to recognise that TWAW.

OP posts:
niceberg · 24/06/2020 06:59

I just caught the last minute. Impossible to argue with a brick wall who actually has no arguments other than be kind, TWAW.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 24/06/2020 06:59

The BBC sounds app has everything on for anyone that wants to catch up

bluechameleon · 24/06/2020 07:00

Poor JKR has fallen in with the wrong crowd

StealthPolarBear · 24/06/2020 07:00

Ahh.

Thanosatemthamster · 24/06/2020 07:03

Which one is fox? Why didn't they say TMAM, given Rowling was taking about an issue that affects transmen, not women?

Cuntysnark · 24/06/2020 07:03

I don’t think I can bring myself to listen. However I’m sure the BBC will have the second part on with the counter view. Did they say when it’s on? I’ll gladly listen to fox when the second interview is aired.

Angryresister · 24/06/2020 07:10

This ridiculous statement was not challenged at all by the interviewer on what is usually a fairly robust programme . What about the supposed fairness of the BBC, so proudly paraded in woman’s hour. Why we had to listen to this Fox person justifying their offer to reeducate JKR and the agency is beyond me.

Xanthangum · 24/06/2020 07:16

I'm increasingly aware that when backed into a corner during media interviews the escape route for defending the indefensible is "it's complicated", the implication being that interviewer and listeners/viewers can't possibly know what it is to be trans/ understand the equality act/ have studied intersex conditions, whatever it is.

It's not complicated.

Angryresister · 24/06/2020 07:20

The most ludicrous statement was that they don’t get the same sales as JKR. Is that a surprise?

NotAssigned · 24/06/2020 07:24

Yes angryresister. In a truly equal world JKR would give some of her sales to Fox to make it fair. But she won't. Bigot.

Also apparently she has "fallen in with the wrong crowd".

boatyardblues · 24/06/2020 07:29

Starts at 6.53 on the BBC Sounds recording. JKR “fallen in with the wrong crowd”? 🙄

kesstrel · 24/06/2020 07:32

"fallen in with the wrong crowd" - a term normally used for teenagers - to support Fox's delusions of superiority over a 50 year old woman with a huge amount of life experience and intelligence. Trying to make out that she has no agency and no basis for her opinions. Nauseating.

Would Fox ever use this term about a 50 year old man, I wonder?

PaleBlueMoonlight · 24/06/2020 07:33

I am not sure I can bear to listen. Is anyone willing to summarise?

boatyardblues · 24/06/2020 07:36

To clarify - 6.53 is the broadcast time, not minutes into the recording.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 24/06/2020 07:46

I just feel sick listening this morning. It’s so biased and misleading.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 24/06/2020 07:52

Just listened. That last sentence.

‘Is she would just accept and believe that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is our lord and saviour...’

FannyCann · 24/06/2020 08:09

they don’t get the same sales as JKR.
GrinGrinGrin
Going to have a listen later just to here that!

RoyalCorgi · 24/06/2020 08:50

"Fallen in with the wrong crowd" is up there with "radicalised by Mumsnet", isn't it?

These people are so very silly. I dare say that the average Radio 4 will be either amused, baffled or repulsed by Fox.

Who was the interviewer? Justin Webb is usually pretty good on this type of thing.

RoyalCorgi · 24/06/2020 08:50

average Radio 4 listener, clicked Post too soon.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 24/06/2020 08:53

Isn’t Fox a transman?

Why isn’t Fox saying tranmen are men instead of transwomen are women?

It like it is all about the men??!! But surely - not if they are actually women???!! Hmm

NearlyGranny · 24/06/2020 08:56

"Fallen in with the wrong crowd" translates as "Someone must have put that idea in her head because she is incapable of original thought." Up there in the 10 most offensive and bigoted things men routinely say to/of women.
