About an hour ago she started posting her response to pictures children have drawn for her book The Icka Bog.

This is a smart move. These are now threads laden with parents of young children who will see, at face value, any of the TRA stuff that gets hurled at her (a few have tried already).

I would love, love, love to see the power of decency keep those trolling bastards at bay.

It's apparently old-fashioned and the cynic in me says it's impossible to maintain a sense of morality and normality when any passing character has access to your feed.

But wouldn't it be nice.

TheShoesa · 16/06/2020 12:14

She is an astonishing woman.

What strength and what a role model to girls and women everywhere.

Floisme · 16/06/2020 12:26

I'm very pleased to hear this, and I'm sure all the twitterers who condemned the Sun will now turn out to help keep the trolls in line, no?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 16/06/2020 12:30

I'm so glad to hear it. She's a bloody fucking star. I hope she's okay. And I hope she continues to do what she loves without being cowed by the idiots that have not an ounce of her intelligence, courage or integrity.

MorrisZapp · 16/06/2020 12:31

She is Gryffindor. That's all.

Oldstyle · 16/06/2020 12:31

Inspirational woman. I'm in total awe of her. She should have a statue - 2020's version of 'courage calls to courage' in every major city.

RoyalCorgi · 16/06/2020 12:48

Agreed, OldStyle. Wouldn't it be wonderful if Bristol replaced its Colston statue with one of Rowling?

You know what she is? She's a good person. In these relativist times you don't often hear people talking about moral goodness, but she's the perfect demonstration of it.

SayNotoArtificialLipids · 16/06/2020 12:58

J k Rowling is my Patronus☇

Childrenofthestones · 16/06/2020 13:10

31Oldstyle. Said.......
"Inspirational woman. I'm in total awe of her. She should have a statue - 2020's version of 'courage calls to courage' in every major city."

Left-wing woke arseholes will have pulled them down within a month.

BaronessBrighterThanYou · 16/06/2020 13:12

Do statues of living people get erected? Just curious and place marking really..

Enderthedragon · 16/06/2020 13:12

She is brilliant!

And the absolute rage of the TRAs that they are not going to be able to hurl bile all over her tweets because it will show them up for what they really are to everyone, is extra glorious.

Lovely to see all those drawings as well ❤️

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 16/06/2020 13:38

Love this! J k Rowling is my Patronus
It’s so perfect

I notice she started with a drawing that had been well commented on by GC feminists trying to keep the lovely feedback going for the kids in her absence.

irishfeminist · 16/06/2020 13:38

Yes, imagine the parents of those little kids who did the drawings reading the CHOKE ON MY GIRL DICK type tweets underneath - charming! Sunlight, sunlight.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 16/06/2020 14:05

@SayNotoArtificialLipids

J k Rowling is my Patronus☇
I want the hashtag #jkrowlingismypatronus to drown out all the violent misogynists.
SayNotoArtificialLipids · 16/06/2020 15:14

I might have it put on a t shirt Smile

contactusdeletus · 16/06/2020 19:40

Good for her! I'm not on Twitter but I'm loving the Ickabog and the competition is such a fantastic thing to do for kids. I'm glad she isn't letting the mob scare her off. Because that's what they want - to silence her and then build her into some sort of bogeywoman in her absence.

Keep showing the world who you really are, Jo, and don't them have their way.

BigBadVoodooHat · 16/06/2020 19:56

Do statues of living people get erected? Just curious and place marking really.

Yes, for example this one: marcquinn.com/artworks/alison-lapper

What an amazing woman. Really pleased to see her back. Hope she sees all those messages of support.

Cuntysnark · 16/06/2020 20:16

She’s truly magnificent.

AnneBullen · 16/06/2020 21:06

Lockdown heroes (As in already in the public eye rather than the fabulous front line workers who have kept going)
Marcus Rashford (deserves a bloody knighthood)
J. K. Rowling
Jamie Oliver

boatyardblues · 16/06/2020 21:14

JKR is fabulous. Well done for getting back to business & ignoring the dementors. Those comments on the drawings are lovely too.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 16/06/2020 21:25

I was reading today about the huge amounts of money Joanne Rowling has given to charity. Hundreds of thousands. She’s such a wonderful role model for young girls and all of us really.

Jamclag · 16/06/2020 21:39

JK Rowling is a truly inspiring and courageous woman - so pleased to hear she's continuing to do the things that are important to her.
Hope she feels supported enough to continue speaking up for women and girls everywhere!

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2020 21:42

I'm no fan of Harry Potter and I only follow her for her views.
Howeveer her replies to the children who had sent drawings on this morning were wonderful. Tailored, positive and genuine. I was so impressed.

JemimaShore · 16/06/2020 21:47

She's fabulous. Resilient and brave. She's an incredible woman Thanks
