About an hour ago she started posting her response to pictures children have drawn for her book The Icka Bog.

This is a smart move. These are now threads laden with parents of young children who will see, at face value, any of the TRA stuff that gets hurled at her (a few have tried already).

I love JK Rowling. Fabulous woman
#jkrowlingismypatronus I might just print that on a t shirt as well

My Dh and I actually started reading her HP books before our children were even old enough for them. My sisters gifted the first 3 of them to Dh when our dc were tiny, thinking he's like them. They were a phenomenon at the time. I remember it well - we have always been fans.

Then our friends were all talking about them - by the time Goblet of Fire was out, they were all reading them.

Then we read them to our children, took them to the films....

Our children have literally grown up never knowing a time HP didn't exist.

I love her Cormoran Strike books too. I just love her.

*But we can all still tell fact from fantasy.

Tonz · 16/06/2020 21:59

She created a whole new world with Harry Potter. I lost count how many times I've read them. Reading them to my children now and they love them too. Such a talented woman

JemimaShore · 16/06/2020 22:05

She's spoken up for women - we're not menstruators, we're women. Sex matters. An incredibly brave thing to do.

BatShite · 16/06/2020 22:40

Glad they haven't scared her off.

Enderthedragon · 17/06/2020 14:11

She is sharing loads of pictures today, imagine how excited those children must be!

Look at this tweet though. It just shows how self centred and narcissistic some people are. This person can't even imagine that JKR might be sharing absolutely loads of pictures because for a child, having your artwork shared by actual JK ROWLING would make your whole year, and the more she does, the more children are happy. No, it has to be her 'spamming' to distract. Kids pictures that they have put time and effort into for a competition are not spam!

I've commented on a few of them, it's so lovely to see the kids artwork and to see the care with which she has replied. She's my hero.

Thisismytimetoshine · 17/06/2020 15:01

Spamming! The level of intellect is truly frightening.

Why are twitter being so slow to delete the abusive tweets?

NearlyGranny · 17/06/2020 15:07

Chance for the real haters to show their true colours, I think. "But it's all got to be about meeeee, always!"

Ginnyhip46 · 17/06/2020 18:14

I've left nice comments on the kids drawing and there's been a call out to feminists to not respond to the bullying comments as to not give them air. x

Twitter owners don't want to.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 17/06/2020 18:29

I have a theory about J K Rowling. She always knew that she was going to stand up and be counted.

In interviews from years ago she talks about how courage is the most important characteristic a person can have. Harry was always willing to stand up for his beliefs even if it got him ostracised. And in the end was willing to sacrifice himself. And Hermione - who is the character that she based on herself and appears to value cleverness over anything else - was still put in Gryffindor.

The interesting thing is that if you read any of her books it is obvious that her natural instincts are to be inclusive. But like most of us she must have reached her “peak trans”.

JemimaShore · 17/06/2020 21:37

I agree, Mumoftwoyoungkids

I've been liking & retweeting her children's drawings today - and I agree that we shouldn't use these posts to respond or argue with TRAs.

I can't believe someone like Fallon Fox, or any TRA, would use a thread with a child's drawing on it it tweet that abusive stuff, but then these people don't care about women and children at all. It's all about them.

Best to just boost JK's tweets, and ignore them. They're showing themselves up.

More wonderful illustrations being shared in the last days.
Tucked in among them was this one
