I only lurk rather than post on Lipstick Alley because it's a space for black women and I don't want to intrude, but they have been consistently calling out this shit for a long time (and without the dance of linguistic appeasement we're forced to do here).

Why are Harry Potter forums deleting posts in support of JKR? Surely they should all be self-combusting at their own hypocrisy of having the forum at all?

And on Reddit, posters (to the GC sub-reddit) are saying that on the J K Rowling sub-reddit (not the Harry Potter sub-reddit), agreeing with JKR gets you banned! Madness.

The Coli one is hilarious, thanks OP. Some homophobic comments and a women can only blame themselves for this comment - which normally would make my hackles rise but in this case it was clear the meaning was "stand up for yourselves, women" rather than the usual "know your place" - though it is also what you could say to someone being abused, and as we know it's not easy to stand up for yourself, especially when you see the level of shit piled on. I'm liking tweets and following people on Twitter but then I noticed a really good friend whom I really respect liking Sophie Ellis Baxter's retweet of Emma whatever her name is's tweet and I thought my friend probably thinks my likes are crazy... though Emma's tweet taken out of context isn't necessarily something I would disagree with either. Watson. Sorry, name escaped me.

I actually find it more interesting how many forums have no references to the issue at all.

For example, rollercoaster.ie (Irish equivalent of MN) has no reference to the issue, and no threads on trans that I can find since RMcK winning her race last year. I doubt no-one cares, so I suspect censorship.

There's a humdinger of threads on boards.ie which is currently dominated by accusing people of being fetishists if they are homo or hetero sexual, which is mind-boggling. Apparently a "femme lesbian" being attracted to a "butch lesbian" is an issue.

I dunno, I feel old.

There was a thread on Site Stuff about racism, but it was all about the Royal Family and Harry/Meghan and the many threads and regular posters discussing them. I have zero clue about any of it and I felt I'd stepped into a sort of mirror world I backed away because I didn't have 3 solid weeks to try and unpick who said what and if it was problematic...

I find the word problematic problematic.

So actually, I've just see that that racism thread had a post from MNHQ clarifying talk guidelines - worth a read - I didn't realise other places did the grey rock. Obviously this is great if it can weed out racist posters!

I lurked the Harry Potter forum on reddit so you don't have to: the moderators are unanimously anti-women, and are deleting any posts that support Rowling. Loads of bewildered long-time posters asking where their comments in support of JK had gone, calling the bias unfair. The few I did spot before being deleted were upvoted massively.

Reddit is famously TransCentral. So many major subreddits are controlled by trans activist mods. (Including almost all of the feminist subreddits, lesbian subreddits etc. )
