List of businesses throwing women under the bus

I couldn't find a thread but seeing that BodyShop tweet to JK Rowling has me incensed and I'm fairly new to this so please can you list any other business that has thrown women under the bus in this whole TWAW issue.

I want to support businesses that recognise that women want to and can have safe spaces, they want their identity to remain (ie they continue to use the words girl, woman in their literature).

So far, from reading posts, I can see:
BodyShop
M&S
John Lewis
Waitrose

Thanks

@Bananabixfloof that's fair but before I started using mumsnet again, virtually everyone - men and women alike - on my SM was of the point of view that 'TWAW,' not sure if anything has changed, since I don't use SM anymore.

I noticed this advert by Skittles.

Following.

I want to make a considered boycott. It will give me no pleasure to see The Body Shop close down as they are a huge employer in my area.
However I cannot support them after their snide bullying of JKR.
would you mind posting examples of WHY we should avoid the. Screen shots of mansplaing patronising tweets for example.

it's certainly wishful thinking to imagine that all or even most women truly support women's rights.

They'll start to if they see males in spaces that they thought were female-only. They'll start to when their daughters come home from school complaining of boys in the girls' changing rooms.

Thanks for this growing list. There's quite a few that I already boycott, others that I don't buy the products anyway, but some were news to me. Certainly it's annoying to have to find alternatives but I'l do my best.

And so what if "hur-hur-hur no company will notice the lack of your spending, you single little tiny insect, therefore you shouldn't bother boycotting anything, hur-hur-hur"? Hmm

I may be only 1 of 3.5 billion women, and all the others might be eagerly throwing their expenditure at Starbucks cookies and white-pink-blue flags.

But for me personally and my personal hard-earned cash, it makes a difference to me whether my few pence end up supporting anti-women causes or not.

Well there’s Body shop account tweet ‘like’ and their communication to an enquiry.

What's Aviva done for you to add them to your list?

MN have a job advert on the front page for 'em...[/quote]
They’ve swallowed the trans cult whole, check out their aviva pride twitter, they host a lot of the stonewall training for police etc. When women have complained about their erasure as a sex class and said they no longer want insurance with aviva the response has been that they’ll happily help to cancel their policies. They know what sex is when they’re pricing their policies.

This is the type of stuff they have on their aviva pride Twitter, where ‘cis-women’ are a subset of women and Peter Tatchell is a ‘legendary campaigner’, campaigner to legalising paedophilia Confused

I seem to remember one of their twitter jockeys being quite snotty and rude. Then we all got told off on here for saying she was a dingbat.

I recently discovered that one of my pensions has moved provider to them. Why badly performing actually.

Unison supports employees wanting gender neutral toilets and silences members who object. They will not support a member who has raised a grievance about the introduction of gender neutral toilets. I don't know if they will offer a refund of fees in this instance though.

Unison members might consider writing to their general secretary, carbonning their shop steward, to remind them that employee toilets must be single-sex or single-occupant by law.

Also, this is why I keep saying that we need a women's union, independent of industry, to supply legal advice and support for women whose industry-specific union lets them down.

This. I refuse to give my money to misogynists if I can possibly do otherwise. And if that means sewing my own clothes, so be it.

It’s an interesting question if boycotts should be extended for beliefs, isn’t it? I’m rather of the opinion that people are allowed to believe whatever they want - we are all individuals. Where it gets sketchy is when individuals or entities try to enforce belief systems on others, and support (potentially mandatory) re-education of those with different beliefs. Particularly where those beliefs are in direct opposition to reality.
I don’t give a toss what my local farmer believes. (And I’m pretty sure biology is pretty high up on the list).
I’m not keen on the mandatory training at work where the local TRA comes in to convince people to believe that TWAW. (That’s the stated aim of the session and beliefs are the primary crux.) I do have to pay my mortgage though, so I reserve the right to hypocrisy on that front. (We have individual gender neutral toilets and three changing rooms for the gym - male, female, gender-neutral). I recognize and admit my hypocrisy on that score in the same way that I recognize my complicity on the odd occasion that I shave my legs.
Given the choice, though, I choose to spend my money in places that don’t actively shit on women. The fact that my employer gives me money makes it easier to choke down the bitter pill. Bit like our mate Dan (except he isn’t quite so up front about his hypocrisy). The main difference is that if I spout off I’ll be homeless. And they mostly get it right.
Believe whatever you like. Don’t impose your beliefs on others. And don’t use your beliefs as an excuse to threaten to rape or murder those who don’t share them. Or as a way to publicly piss on survivors of abuse.
My money, my choice.

Thank you. I am aware of The Body Sop, M and S and Top Shop.
Bye bye my money. But evidence of why to boycott other organisations would be appreciated.

The fucking Eve Appeal are at it now too. I just got an email about cervical screening “everyone with a cervix”. Nowhere was the word woman mentioned, although it does feature in their logo but for how long?.
I’m so cross, they are my go to charity. I fling money at them every time I see a friend collecting for Cancer Research- i.e. I want to support the friend in raising money for a cancer charity but I would rather give it to a charity who knows what a woman is.

It's a ridiculous turn of phrase, it makes me think of medical museums with 'things in bottles' or Dennis Nealson with 'things in his fridge'.

Have a glass of wine and take a deep breath.

I peak-peaked on Monday and really got very cross indeed (understatement) - it was a few things then definitely the last straw broke this camel's back.

It is very frustrating when companies ignore you, or you know that big business is merely pandering to the 'minority' flavour of the month and don't actually give a shit about them - or the legacy damage that will be caused when they drop them like a hot brick and are all off chasing the 'three-legged-albino-vegan-cat' woke cookies.

It’s amazing how many businesses you’re having to boycott. You’ll be running out of places to shop

@Burgundy1844 We're resourceful; we'll manage. But thanks for your concern Grin

We should all point out to The Eve Appeal that it is Women/women who still have their cervix/women who have not had cervical removal.

They are going to lose ££££ over this.

Is someone in their team going through personal issues that means they now hate women/a particular woman and are projecting. If so, someone in their management team needs to get to the bottom of it.

Its beyond me why all these stores are falling over themselves to be seen to be supporting a tiny proportion of the population while alienating so many others. Women are very often the decision makers when it comes to what to buy and from where so it seems like commercial madness.

Another restaurant for the list. Pho, with its gender neutral loos.
