I think trans women are women.....

rabbitwoman · 11/06/2020 10:51

i think transwomen are women.

i think that women that are not transwomen need a special set of laws and rights to protect them because they are and have been subject to many centuries of oppression. They need laws and protections around childbirth and breastfeeding. they need support around menstruation.

women that are not transwomen will be susceptible to cancer of the overaries and womb, endemetriosis, and also respond very differently to some diseases and medicines

It would be very useful to put all these women who are not transwomen into one demographic category so that these issues can be directly identified and tackled.
this need not conflate with transgender rights.

Aslo, women that are transwomen will have been subject to a unique form of sexual abuse, harassment and prejudice. they will require specialist medical treatment to negotiate things like prostrate and testicular cancer within their own identity. they will respond very differently to some diseases and medicines.

It would be very useful to put all these women who are transwomen into one demographic category so that these issues can be directly identified and tackled.
this need not conflate with women's rights

i propose that for these purposes we could use the words 'transwomen' and 'women'

as well as 'transmen' and 'men'

is this wrong?

I read the OP as tongue in cheek, and pro-women, Tbh.

NotAGirl · 11/06/2020 23:55

I read the OP as tongue in cheek, and pro-women, TBH.

If it's tongue in cheek it is way too close to the rubbish on twitter to be funny

WinWinnieTheWay · 11/06/2020 23:59

Ok, let's we we call tranwomen, women. What should we then call biological women?

LockdownLump · 12/06/2020 00:32

Yes - they're called 'WOMEN'

This is an hilarious OP. Pop has actually eaten itself 😂

LockdownLump · 12/06/2020 00:34

For the first time this week OP, you have actually given me a laugh. So I really do thank you for that ❤️

LockdownLump · 12/06/2020 00:38

Hold my hand up. Sorry OP. Had a few wines and misread your OP 😱😯😬

Agree

TorkTorkBam · 12/06/2020 00:39

@Fivefourthree

I read the OP as tongue in cheek, and pro-women, Tbh.
This.

She even came back on to confirm she'd tried too hard and people had taken her seriously when she was tongue in cheek to make a point.

Honestly a proper lady should know not to go around being clever all the open and everything.

Next time @rabbitwoman explain it to your husband and get him to post. Make sure he starts "Man here".

rabbitwoman · 12/06/2020 08:33

I don't think anyone could accuse me of being a proper woman....

And Rabbitman is a pretty awesome fellow who honestly would just say 'ask my wife, I agree with her'.....

Luckily, my dad is also a pretty cool stereoytype busting quiet hero who did most of the stay at home parenting in the 90s whilst my mum was the bread winner. And he didn't even realise that he was setting me and my brother such a good example.

I was able to grow up thinking that there was no need to be a feminist, the world was pretty equal already, the fights had all been won. What a shock, as I entered my 30s and my pals around me started having babies, to see how wrong I had it....

And now? Its not just the glaringly obvious high jack of women's rights, its how young women are gleefully jumping on and supporting it. I am feeling a bit helpless... But battling on....

I am sorry. I am late to this one but I just wanted to say rabbit that when your post marginalises women, makes them a subset of women, multiple times, there is only one response you are going to get.

Given the place you chose to post the title alone was guaranteed to raise hackles. Many won't read it all. Mainly because it's the sort of shit MRAs and TRAs ppost here regularly, but you know that!

So I just want to post the last bit, the point of your OP loudly Smile

i propose that for these purposes we could use the words 'transwomen' and 'women'

as well as 'transmen' and 'men'

And thank you for the heart rate raising anger closely followed by giggle at my own expense Grin

rabbitwoman · 12/06/2020 09:49

takes a bow

My work here is done. Ten points to hufflepuff

Suggest adding a silent b?
Woman = wombman

Ninkanink · 13/06/2020 08:57

The problem with satire is that in this case the object is so completely nonsensical, so devoid of reasons, that your satire will be missed and people will think you are being entirely serious. They will stop reading, or get rightly angry, and likely miss the point.

Ninkanink · 13/06/2020 08:58

*reason. I cannot stand the way this autocorrect thinks it knows better than me!

Ninkanink · 13/06/2020 08:59

(And I know satire isn’t strictly the right term, but it’s early and I haven’t had my coffee 😉)

Wondersense · 13/06/2020 09:26

@rabbitwoman If you'd like to clarify your own opinion on the subject, you really need to give us all a solid definition of a woman, one that preferably doesn't stray into 1950s gender stereotypes.

Gotoworkdontgotowork · 13/06/2020 09:30

no-one has even bothered to ask bulls how they identify Hmm

And why is that?
Such a useful a and clever analogy you’ve come up with.

LastTrainEast · 13/06/2020 09:35

People please go back and read the OP.

MockersGuidedByTheScience · 13/06/2020 09:46

The Problem is, as Johnny Speight and Warren Mitchell found out with Alf Garnett, you cannot satirise Stupid.

mummmy2017 · 02/08/2020 08:44

The Transwoman in our office got married this weekend.
The Transwoman wore a Suit, the Bride wore a dress.
The Bride is now 6 weeks pregnant by the Transwoman.
HR are going mad bending over backwards for this Transwoman, who seems to be a male outside of work.
I kid you not, football and pub with the lads.

BaronEssoStation · 02/08/2020 08:54

How long before women get to be called non-transwomen?

Standrewsschool · 02/08/2020 08:58

“I read the OP as tongue in cheek, and pro-women, Tbh.”

That’s how I read it.

I once did an office poll about using the word ‘Cis’. Not one person had heard of the term. (Never know whether it’s pronounced sis or kis)

BaronEssoStation · 02/08/2020 09:01

People please go back and read the OP.

The first thing OP said was:

i think transwomen are women. (OP said that in the title too!)

The first response to OP was the usual polite request for the definition of woman which seems like a reasonable request considering that word was being used a lot.

No reply tho - business as usual.

highame · 02/08/2020 09:22

OP, you did what I think you intended, to prompt discussion but with a nice edge to it. . Loved the post, had to re-read bits to make sure I got it right but slightly reminded me of an Umberto Eco Misreadings😁

I think transman/transwoman perfectly acceptable, but I believe they don't like these terms. I think the idea (and someone has mentioned it) that you start off with Trans woman and then drop the Trans.

We've really got to get smart and look at what is going on underneath, yes there are some who are dumb as batshit but there are clever people running this show and we really need to get smarter, tougher and more organised.

Thanks OP

highame · 02/08/2020 09:22

p.s. Cis is an abomination

Lamahaha · 02/08/2020 10:04

women that are not transwomen = women.
No other words are needed.

By saying TWAW, and in the rest of your ppost referring to "women that are not transwomen" you are actually stating that tw are the real women, and we are not-women.

Fuck off with that. (and this is the first time I have ever said fo on this board.)
