With their immense privilege and position in society they show us who they really are as they dare to lecture Jo Rowling.
They are obviously done with her and looking to preserve their own positions, blithely throwing her under the bus as they go.
Despicable.

I hope she cancels the pair of them!

OhHolyJesus · 10/06/2020 19:01

I wonder what their wives think, maybe they prefer 'pregnant person' to mother? Either way I'd like to hear it, from them directly.

RubyViolet · 10/06/2020 19:02

What must the women close to them think ?? It’s mind blowing what they have just done.

Redmayne may be in for round two of being cancelled though because he portrayed a transwoman and we all know that's not allowed without the lived experience.

It makes me fucking angry. I hope they both feel ashamed when they read her statement.

RubyViolet · 10/06/2020 19:09

They do not care about this issue. They care about their position in the industry. So cynical.

Not on twitter, had a look but can't see a JKR shaped tweet from Redmayne, but really OMG is it the Rules of Misogyny again? "Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are."

I'm sorry, but women is a different country. Men have no idea.

But hey ho, for behold! a man has arrived, to tell us how to women properly.

JKR wrote precisely, wittily, and with her heart. Even while being called a cunt and a hag and told to choke on tweeter's dicks. And all these men can do (men who know her, might have been close to her even?) is pander to the mob, for the likes??? No words.

isabellerossignol · 10/06/2020 19:15

Redmayne is the embodiment of male privilege - if a woman had his film roles under her belt, TRAs would make sure she never worked again.

Radcliffe is an ungrateful snivelling misogynist. JK Rowling is responsible for his fame and wealth, he'd be doing amateur dramatics somewhere if it wasn't for Harry Potter.

Any Female Producers, Commissioner’s, Directors, Casting Directors...... Take note of this. Shame on them.

I would think that both of them, like many men, haven't really got a grip on what the fuss is all about, haven't thought it through, have believed the surface emotive fluff they will have been served, and probably have no idea that they have come out proudly on the side of homophobic male supremacism.

The general public however will read JK's just posted words and have no difficulty in joining the dots.

Good luck with that guys, this one is going to follow you.

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 19:50

Patronising cock.

"They simply want to live their lives peacefully, and it's time to let them do so."

Yeah, fuck off, that's all JKR and women, want but the men you are prioritising are bombarding us all with death threats and sexualised abuse. Go fucking tell them to live their lives peacefully you patronising stuffed dummy.

Fatted · 10/06/2020 19:53

I must admit I have a lot of respect for JK Rowling on the whole trans issue. It's refreshing to see someone so high profile speaking out on the side of women for once.

It is disappointing though to see that younger, underlying males feel like they need to speak for a higher status female.

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/06/2020 19:56

"They simply want to live their lives peacefully, and it's time to let them do so."

At the expense of the many females who will be excluded from female provision by their presence, and denied the ability to live their lives peacefully or to access things like health care, or refuges, or hospital wards, gyms, toilets.... the list goes on and on.

Male born people do not matter more than these female people. There is not some warped justice in excluding and punishing female people whose needs prevent them being able to prioritise and serve the happiness of any random male in their vicinity.

This is male supremacist bullshit. It does not even see the females in the equation.

There are answers that meet all needs. Everyone's. That does not involve plating up equality for females and increasing oppression and disadvantage for females and serving it up like some sort of ritual punishment or sacrifice made to appease unhappy males.

AnnaMagnani · 10/06/2020 20:22

Where I live, there are a lot of daddy Redmayne's estate agent signs around.

Whenever I pass one I'm reminded of what an incredibly posh bloke Redmayne is and how his parents could afford to send him to Eton. If he was between jobs as an actor, he wasn't going to be stacking shelves in Tesco was he?

A bit different to JK Rowling, jobless, a single parent and escaping domestic violence but creating the whole Harry Potter phenomenon.

Annasgirl · 10/06/2020 20:33

Yes as I wrote on the Times thread, I hope she uses her power to ensure neither of these useless men ever get another job on her wonderful movies ever - I would support that petition.

Notejode · 10/06/2020 20:39

I do not think half of the actors coming to support groups and minorities mean what they say or care much. They are just protecting themselves from the industry and fans. Sad!

babynewt · 10/06/2020 21:48

Redmayne and Radcliffe, both white privileged males. I wonder what experience do they base their knowledge on regarding the lived experience of ordinary biological women? those who use public loos, access public/NHS healthcare, use changing rooms at leisure centres. I could go further, as this would include more vulnerable women, who may have used DV shelters, been in prison, do they know many of these women?? I would imagine that it would be very low numbers, and what do they know of the lived experience of ordinary women, not those in the celebrity circuit/Etonian groups whose experience differs somewhat.

Fallingirl · 10/06/2020 22:06

I am only half joking, when I now declare the problem with men is that they have neither honour nor morals.

Lottapianos · 10/06/2020 22:09

The pair of them can piss off. She deserves so much better than their sanctimonious back stabbing

DwayneBenzie · 10/06/2020 22:11

Would love to know how Eddie Redmayne can hold the beliefs that trans women are women AND that he’s the perfect person to play a trans woman, at the same time. Is he just a bit dim?

KingOfDogShite · 10/06/2020 22:13

Fucking men should wind their necks in.

Andthenthenewone · 10/06/2020 22:16

Even combined, these two guys are about 0.1% of Rowling’s personality, and I am being generous. They just want to cash in the free publicity.

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 22:24

They are utterly craven debased fools. Half of me wants Graham Norton to get them on the sofa to dare to patronise her to her face. The other half hopes she just never acknowledges their existence again.

DryHeave · 10/06/2020 22:25

Emma’s just tweeted.

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 22:27
