What the white supremacist roots of ‘biological sex’ reveal about today’s transphobic feminism

I am not in any way saying anybody should take the time to read this, but posting because whatever is or has happened on twitter in nothing compared to the ongoing onslaught the the MSM is orchestrating against JKR.

Even allowing for click bait, the number of anti woman articles that are appearing day after day is way beyond what has happened in the past.

This article looks like just a cheap way to attack JKR. If you cant get her on the basis of her writing the truth about women, then smear her opinions as being racist.

"Much like British imperialist classifications, rejecting the idea of more fluid sex seeks to violate anyone who doesn’t conform"

www.independent.co.uk/voices/transphobia-sex-gender-white-supremacy-racism-jk-rowling-a9557996.html

(It is open to comments but not sure if commentating doesn't encourage them to commission this type of reactionary anti woman nonsense. But on the other had it needs to be challenged.)

The independent hates women.

Humans can’t change sex

The word women is not evil.

Women/girls need sex based rights.

That’s what JK said.

TheRealMcKenna · 10/06/2020 18:12

Literally just created a thread about the same article. I’ll ask MN to delete it.

I just give up.

Then again, this is the paper that published the article by Titania McGrath.

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 18:14

I'm not clicking on this tosh. The whole racist tosh is desparately stupid. The people writing it are mendacious fools. I truly hope this ridiculous website folds and they have to get a job that is of some use to something or someone.

forsucksfake · 10/06/2020 18:17

Now I've heard it all. Sex is racist. I want what they're smoking.

stumbledin · 10/06/2020 18:17

Sorry if I duplicated. I started writing a long comment which I then realised wasn't needed in the opening comment. And a bit slow cutting it down. So possibley didn't show in the index.

But its enough to make your blood boil Just dont know whether to ignore or attempt to engage in discussion.

I was there was a way to "like" JKR's wonderfull article (which has two threads).

It there a way to contact her in a positive way?

OP posts:
Roseburn · 10/06/2020 18:18

It's the Independent. Indepedent are Russian fifth columnists . BTL are putinbots for sure. (And Im sure there is more truth in that than there is in their claim that biological sex is about white supremacy)

TinklyLittleLaugh · 10/06/2020 18:20

What errant nonsense that article is.

OhHolyJesus · 10/06/2020 18:24

You can send JK Rowling a card or letter of support to this address:

J.K. Rowling
c/o Bloomsbury Publishing PLC
50 Bedford Square
London WC1B 3DP

JellySlice · 10/06/2020 18:29

Or email her on

[email protected]

stumbledin · 10/06/2020 18:31

Thanks for the address. Have just seen there is an email address on the contact page of her web site.

I want to support her but I also want the media to stop this group bullying of her.

Is it IPSO that you can complain to?

OP posts:
BlackForestCake · 10/06/2020 18:35

Papers are perfectly free to publish ridiculous nonsense articles if they want to, not much IPSO can do about it. And we are free to mock them.

ButterflyBitch · 10/06/2020 18:46

I’ve just emailed. Am also going to send a card in the post. She’s been brilliant.

Maduixa · 10/06/2020 18:52

Pretty much everyone west of Penzance knows that a Russian mafioso bought The Independent as a present for his kid's 30th birthday in 2010. The Independent hasn't published anything that even makes sense in the ten or so years since. If you want recs of what media to read/listen to, start a separate thread and tell us which languages you speak and what your specific interests are.

Goosefoot · 10/06/2020 19:05

There has been a lot of effort over the past few days to tie gender essentialism into questions about race. It seemed for a while that reactionary assumptions of bigotry for not supporting gender essentialism were not being accepted to the same degree, however a similar dynamic has now developed around discussions of race. Their hope, I assume, is that if they can cement the causes together in people's minds they will be able to regain some lost ground.

MockersGuidedByTheScience · 10/06/2020 19:08

We've had this before. The British Empire invented biological sex and forced the Irish to conform. That's what the Easter Rising was all about. It was the misgendering on top of everything else that was the last straw.

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 19:20

Ya will Ya will Ya will Mockers

DreadPirateLuna · 10/06/2020 19:27

Let me see if I can summarise this argument.

JKR is a white British person.

Britain was once a big colonial power. Among the other bad colonial stuff, it also invented the "gender binary".

The colonized peoples didn't know that men and women were different until the Brits told them. This is not a racist statement, but is an acknowledgement that these people were more evolved and closer to nature, noble savages if you like.

Therefore, JKR's belief that biological sex is a real thing puts her into the same category as slave traders, Indian viceroys who oversaw famines, racist American cops, and your Nan who still says "coloured people".

Also, something about 2-spirit people (who existed in all tribes and are totally the same concept as transgender) and intersex (not entirely sure what that means, but here's some stuff I jumbled together from Wikipedia).

Something like that.

DreadPirateLuna · 10/06/2020 19:33

The British Empire invented biological sex and forced the Irish to conform. That's what the Easter Rising was all about. It was the misgendering on top of everything else that was the last straw.

My Irish great-grandparents had 13 children. Unfortunately, because the British had brought in the gender binary, my poor ggm had to give birth to them all.

stumbledin · 10/06/2020 19:38

Maduixa - you seem to have missed the point I was making. All of the media irrespective of who owns them (apart from the Times) has been going out of their way day after day to find some nonentity to write a cruel and untrue comment about JKR.

The point is, as I said up thread, what happens on twitter is largely irrelevant to over 80% of the population. It is the mainstream media that is deciding that they think there role is to gang up and bully one woman.

That is why are started this thread about the bullying of one woman.

Okay?

terryleather · 10/06/2020 19:45

Goosefoot makes a very good point.

I'd throw in the huge purity spiral that's come about due to recent events plus add in global lockdown cabin fever - there's a really strange febrile atmosphere atm

Lordfrontpaw · 10/06/2020 23:27

@ThinEndoftheWedge

The independent hates women.

Humans can’t change sex

The word women is not evil.

That’s what JK said.

Yeah, all this. (And BodShop Sucks).
stumbledin · 10/06/2020 23:46

What's depressing is that many of the MSM are now reporting that JKR has written a long post. But they skip over any of her rational explanation about being female and just highlight the fact that she talks about being the victim of violence.

Part of me is sad that she felt she had to include this as though to validate her arguements.

OP posts:
Cismyfatarse1 · 10/06/2020 23:47

As I said on the other thread, the writer is an Etonian who performs drag to children. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/comedy/what-to-see/would-take-child-kid-friendly-drag-show-meet-mums-have/amp/

Not a historian, or a scientist but a rentagob with money and a career to promote.

StrangeLookingParasite · 10/06/2020 23:57

That actually takes the biscuit for the most nonsensical pile of wank I have read in quite some time.
Light must bend around him.

OldQueen1969 · 11/06/2020 00:05

Say whut now?

As I'm a touch squiffy and strung out for personal reasons, I have decided that the only viable response to this is that all humans are rubbish but women especially so, unless we deny our womanhood and venerate men.

So I'm going to drink myself to sleep and beg Morpheus for sweet relief.......
