That blog statement is too vague to be taken as "I no longer use female facilities."

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 06/06/2020 12:57

And it is true, there is nothing I can do as a trans woman that I could not do as a man, apart from breach women’s boundaries and appropriate their sex-based rights. I don’t do those things so arguably I have gained nothing.

Hayton had said several times that there are no laws or rights for women and girls to have automatic sex segregated spaces - that they are more of a courtesy or a tradition. I can see how hayton therefore can assert that hayton hasn't breached any boundaries while using women's sex segregated spaces.

When hayton talks about boundaries and sex based rights, I don't think hayton is talking about sex segregation spaces.

If he’s reading this thread, I would hope he’d come on and clarify his position on single-sex spaces.

Datun · 06/06/2020 13:11

Me too Empress. It would save loads of time.

As a union representative, Dr Hayton should have an understanding of *and commitment to women's sex-based work protections & rights. Union representatives hve responsibility to all members.

The NASUWT document removes protections & rights from female teaching staff.

GMB statement:
!Date: Monday 25 May 2020

Over the past 48 hours, we’ve received a number of questions on social media and been contacted by members on our series of employment rights Q&As with Mumsnet.

We want to make it clear that GMB supports our trans members, condemns transphobia in the strongest terms and commits to continuing to practically support and campaign alongside the trans community.

During Covid -19 GMB has been working hard to represent our members, and to provide vital additional information for workers on their rights at work, wherever they are. Too many people are currently insecure at work, don’t know their rights or where to turn to and desperately need a union.

What we wanted to do by hosting online advice sessions with Mumsnet, is to reach out to parents, who we know are also facing specific challenges with employment during the pandemic, including pregnancy and childcare. Our sole intention was to help support workers when they need it, as that’s our job.

We are grateful to all those who contacted us with their concerns and of course must listen to our members. We will immediately pause our Mumsnet work, thoroughly review and meaningfully engage with our members and activists, about how best to reach working parents whilst continuing to support all our members.

We are committed to rebuilding trust with our trans members and redoubling our efforts to challenge transphobia and end discrimination in all workplaces and beyond.

Together we are always stronger. Our fight for equality will always be at the heart of what we do."

I think they'd already managed to make that perfectly clear.

Still waiting on evidence that GMB supports their female members.

Still waiting on evidence that GMB supports their female members.

I hope you have a lot of patience!

Still waiting on evidence that GMB supports their female members.

Its also important to know if the NASUWT supports its female members & to see evidence of this.

TyroSaysMeow · 06/06/2020 15:50

Frankly it would be nice to see any organisation come out in support of its female members these days.

They're all so quick to tell us how much they support trans, but when it comes to women? Tumbleweed.

Grossly Misogynistic Bastards

This. DH helped formulate this guidance.

It’s not about purity spirals, it’s about this.

Agree - people should be able to change their minds. Show me where DH retracts/apologised for this policy which removes protections and rights from women.

"I came across a post on Twitter which included what appears as a screenshot from a WhatsApp conversation with a gender critical ally. The image is attached for reference.

Thanks R0. I think that answers my question.
