HARTFORD, Conn. – A Connecticut policy that allows transgender athletes to compete in girls sports violates the civil rights of female athletes, the U.S. Education Department's Office for Civil Rights has ruled.

The ruling, which was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press, comes in response to a complaint filed last year by several female track athletes, who argued that two transgender runners who were identified as male at birth had an unfair physical advantage.

A little more digging: www.businessinsider.com/dawn-ennis-abc-news-producer-comes-out-as-transgender-2013-5?r=US&IR=T

After walking into the ABC News office on Friday in a little black dress and brunette wig, top ABC News editor Don Ennis announced that he would now like to be called "Dawn" and will be making the transition into a woman.
"The 49-year-old father of three said he’s splitting from his wife of 17 years to become a woman, or Dawn Stacey Ennis, as she is now known on her governmental records," reports the New York Post.

.......

“Today I begin anew," she begins. "Please understand: This is not a game of dress-up, or make-believe. It is my affirmation of who I now am and what I must do to be happy, in response to a soul-crushing secret that my wife and I have been dealing with for more than seven years, mostly in secret."

@andyoldlabour

"Agree, but it is nowhere near as mad as the TRA argument that simply identifying as a woman turns you into one. That is - literally - magical thinking."

Whilst we know it is mad, it would seem that all of the Labour leadership and deputy leadership candidates refused to recognise the problem.
It was also the case with the IOC in 2015, when the entire committee was persuaded by a deeply flawed study, provided to them by transwoman Joanna Harper, which set out why transgender athletes lost all their strength and speed once they had transitioned.

Ah yes, sample size of 8 (iirc), self-selecting trans people, no control group, only looked at (admittedly good) amateur middle distance runners in middle age...

Kind of like a case study to give "statistical methods in bioscience 101" students as an exercise in "identify the flaws in this paper".

Argh - 'cos of course the first thing a female journalist would do on starting a new job or new role in an organisation would be to show up in a little black dress. As we "girls" all know (quick giggle in the toilets all together now, folx) nothing says "take me seriously in a professional context" like a little black dress.

Unless of course it's one of Pippa Bunce's pink lacy numbers, pretty much ubiquitous in the City these days, I gather (or at least they were before lock down).

I wonder what qualifications someone who has lived nearly 50 years as a heterosexual white man has to report on 'other lgbt issues'?

I wonder what Dawn's kids think of the championing of the rights of boys to take spaces on sports teams and scholarships meant for girls?

I also see that Dawn got sacked from ABC before ending up at Forbes.

Rather strange story of confusion: nymag.com/intelligencer/2014/06/abc-fired-transgender-employee-dawn-ennis.html
