Yet again the unions have shown that women, and working mothers in particular, are at the bottom of their priority list.

CourtneyLurve · 26/05/2020 10:14

I've always thought we needed a union specifically for female workers. Good time to start one.

BringbackLang · 26/05/2020 10:15

I'd be interested to see how many members leave over this

BringbackLang · 26/05/2020 10:15

The union I mean

Who now gives a fuck about women’s rights in the workplace?

The left has completely and utterly abandoned me.

Me too. I don't work any more but if this was my union I'd resign. They're not going to protect women's interests, are they?

NotTerfNorCis · 26/05/2020 10:26

This is disappointing. GMB have caved to TRA thugs.

It was on them to investigate first. They'd have discovered that the TRAs had been lying about transphobia. This is a feminist board that supports women.

And regardless of the majority opinion on one board, there was no need to sever ties with the entire site.

It seems that even in times of pandemic, the fanatical gender cult remains as powerful as ever.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 26/05/2020 10:29

All the unions have been completely policy captured by trans activists so it's no surprise. But this is why I'm happy to pay for the premium membership.

A women's business - Mumsnet - is being deliberately targeted in an attempt to shut them down in a campaign dominated by aggressive misogynists. They mustn't succeed.

BringbackLang · 26/05/2020 10:33

This has pushed me to pay for the premium site. I wasn't going to but this has spurred me on.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 26/05/2020 10:33

Typical I thought. They wanted information from women, got it, then fucked off and stabbed them in the back for woke cookies. Spineless cowards.

The TRAs on Twitter aren't appeased though and some are calling out for GMB sackings, ha! And yes, it would be interesting to see how many people leave them too. Serves them right.

DrDavidBanner · 26/05/2020 10:34

I agree Courtney, many good points have been made here.

While I agree transgender people need their rights to not be discriminated in the workplace protected, women's rights need protecting too.

Too many establishment figures and organisations have shown us that our hard fought rights as women are in fact a conditional gift. What can we do?

rogdmum · 26/05/2020 10:34

I’m going to pay for the premium site now as well. This is just getting ridiculous.

StopTouchingYourFaceDave · 26/05/2020 10:35

When you’re a member of GMB, you’re part of a family that will always stand up for you.

Unless you value the rights of women.

RoyalCorgi · 26/05/2020 10:38

They really do hate women, don't they?

HereWeGoAgain234 · 26/05/2020 10:48

The GMB needs some expert legal advice: I imagine they won’t have read this...

www.lawscot.org.uk/members/journal/issues/vol-65-issue-01/sex-and-the-equality-act/

Written by a top Scottish advocate who is now a judge.

HereWeGoAgain234 · 26/05/2020 10:49

And they probs haven’t read this, written by a Human Rights expert who is also now a Judge...

filia.org.uk/news/2018/8/23/has-everyone-really-got-it-wrong

OvaHere · 26/05/2020 10:50

I'm so angry about this.

HereWeGoAgain234 · 26/05/2020 10:51

Unfortunately the legal databases they or their advisers have acccesed only represent one side of what is now a contentious issue. Those databases do not include articles written from the Mumsnet perspective. There are more....

BobbyDazzlah · 26/05/2020 10:52

If actual women cannot be monitored in the workplace, then sex discrimination, equal pay and pregnancy and maternity discrimination cannot be identified or addressed. Makes you wonder whose side GMB are on

HereWeGoAgain234 · 26/05/2020 10:57

They won’t have read this piece written by leading counsel on gender critical beliefs and the recent (appeal pending) Forstater case)

uklabourlawblog.com/2020/02/19/the-forstater-employment-tribunal-judgment-a-critical-appraisal-in-light-of-miller-by-karon-monaghan/

NotBadConsidering · 26/05/2020 10:58

I started a thread in site stuff

Good OP over there. MNHQ should absolutely stand up for all those women who took the time to post on that thread and have now been abandoned.

grafittiartist · 26/05/2020 10:58

Yep- glad I am paying for premium now. Totally want to support Mumsnet.

HereWeGoAgain234 · 26/05/2020 11:07

The GMB doesn’t have the best record on women’s rights. The Equal Pay Act came about in 1970 but they only lodged their first big equal pay claims to protect the union not to support women workers

Jintyfer · 26/05/2020 11:09

I can't find a link to sign up to premium. Am I missing something obvious? I want to do the right thing by Mumsnet. Help please! 🙏😊
