TRA on twitter tweeting a Mumsnet advertiser, saying Mumsnet is transphobic and tweeting opinion pieces at the the advertiser Audible.

"We absolutely support and believe in trans rights, thanks for bringing this to our attention, we're going to look into this."

I looked for a thread, if there is one already let me know and i'll ask for this to be deleted for being a duplicate.

I began to draft an email from my customer account to Audible and abandoned it midway because I realised my personal information is available to anyone at Audible reading the message.

I recalled a certain Mumsnet intern divulging personal details on Twitter, and seeing academics' addresses and photos of their homes online and it gave me pause. These activists are everywhere and they are immoral, vindictive and violent.

So I have decided continue to engage with Audible anonymously Twitter.

Am I being paranoid?

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 12:22

I just asked customer services if it was true. No more, just asking for a fact.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 12:23

The intern just walked away from it didn’t she? Why was that? If that was my company this would have been taken further. How would that dissuade anyone else from doing the same?

forsucksfake · 16/05/2020 12:40

Lord precisely. I know MNHQ will close the thread so I won't discuss it further, but the injustice in that situation still rankles. And it makes me cautious, veering on paranoid. That's why I wanted some perspective.

Mrsmorton · 16/05/2020 16:42

Is it true about audible?

boatyardblues · 16/05/2020 17:12

but the injustice in that situation still rankles

And makes some posters unwilling to sign up for the paid service because of data protection concerns.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 16/05/2020 17:12

MrsMorton

They haven't said anything else about it on twitter.

OP posts:
Mytholmroyd · 16/05/2020 17:19

I have signed up to mumsnet premium because of this and will cancel my audible account if it proves to be true Angry

Mrsmorton · 16/05/2020 17:40

@Oncewasblueandyellowtwo thank you. Will
Keep an eye out. @Mytholmroyd yep. Same.

forsucksfake · 17/05/2020 13:00

A response of some sort:

twitter.com/woman4w/status/1261986277307617280?s=21

I am beginning to feel rather prescient.

popehilarious · 17/05/2020 14:28

This is probably going to turn into A Thing that would have probably not been A Thing if everyone had just ignored the TRAs...?

Audible have books on how breastfeeding is best. Should they remove those if people who feel bad about not being able to breastfeed, for whatever reason, complain?

WarriorsComeOutToPlayay · 17/05/2020 16:11

She's now changed her profile to state her preferred pronouns...

Mrsmorton · 17/05/2020 16:30

I've got loads of credits left. I wonder if they will refund them. How incredibly disappointing

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 17:00

Profile no longer has the company name. Someone has advised her well then. Better late than never I suppose.

Oh well, I’m sure she is not even remotely sorry for saying what she said (these people will never ‘get’ why words they use are hideous) and merely see this as confirmation about the story of The Poor Wee Most Attacked Group In the History of the World, and that women are just horrid nasties.

BringbackLang · 17/05/2020 17:13

There is evidence available that she used a hate slur to refer to people who have different opinions from hers. She has done some damage to the company's reputation as she has acted completely unprofessionally by disclosing what people have been saying then using an abusive term with regards to them. By association I now see Audible as untrustworthy and see them having a poor attitude directed at their client base.

Audible needs to publicly apologise and to remove this woman from dealing with the general public and from customer information. They won't but they should.

BringbackLang · 17/05/2020 17:16

I'm also concerned that they employ people with little or no regards to women rights.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 17:21

Very nicely put. Of course my ‘get tae fuck’ also works.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 17/05/2020 21:03

I can't see if Audible have said anything about it yet?

BringbackLang

It's really shocking, do they really not care that male sexual abusers are being housed in female prisons?
Do they really not care that girls are losing out in sports because they are competing against boys?
That a 14 year old girl is fighting for her rights to single sex facilities & against guidance that says she will be committing a hate crime if she doesn't comply.

It's so wrong.

The only care about their woke cookies. The employee who wrote the tweet did so with her Audible ‘hat’ on. No one higher up has jumped in to try to diffuse the situation. Fast enough to kiss up to the people who made the initial complaint though.

BringbackLang · 17/05/2020 21:37

I doubt anyone higher has been informed yet as it's the weekend. Either they will deal with it or they will keeps schtum hoping it will all blow over.

Bear in mind that it was the woke Social
Media person who answered the 'complaint' tweet anyway. She doesn't have the power to pull funding.

Now, if I were her manager I would be asking her to explain exactly why she thought using offensive language and treating the customer base with such contempt was a good idea. I would also be putting her on disciplinary for misconduct and removing her to another position where she can not access private customer details subject to an investigation.

I would also be issuing an apology to the customers that have been offended by her actions (which sounds like an awful lot of people contacted her regarding the issue - even though there are only one or two of us in our cabal with a group leader while being funded by right wing fundamentalist church groups I think).

It won't happen because hey it's better to upset a few pesky women than the shouty ranty wokus folkus who will think the company is oh so marvellous and give them woke cookies.

Know your place women!

Or I might be wrong and they do deal with it properly.

Who knows. I await the outcome with bated breath.

forsucksfake · 17/05/2020 21:38

It is disgraceful and disturbing that an Audible employee would tweet a slur used by TRAs who threaten women with sexual violence.

I wrote yesterday of my concern about my private account information being in the hands of such a person and it appears my concern was indeed valid. Does Audible hold its employees to any standards?

I have tried to email Tracey Markham, Audibleuk's Country Manager but the email bounced back.

I have emailed Audibleuk's CEO with a screen shot of Ms Clark's tweet and received an auto reply.

Should you feel up to it, please email CEO Katie Arlett: [email protected]

I will update if I get any kind of response.

MissLawls · 17/05/2020 22:17

I am going to email too and will report back if I get a response.

Lordfrontpaw · 17/05/2020 22:19

If I was her manager I’d want to know pronto - as I’ve said before I’ve managed teams and the first rule was ‘i don’t like surprises’.

Lordfrontpaw · 18/05/2020 00:02

Lordfrontpaw · 18/05/2020 00:05

Anyroads... the person throwing the insults... I can’t see this actually being their job. I had a nosey at the Audible U.K. and .com accounts and they aren’t exactly a full time job to maintain.
