TRA on twitter tweeting a Mumsnet advertiser, saying Mumsnet is transphobic and tweeting opinion pieces at the the advertiser Audible.

"We absolutely support and believe in trans rights, thanks for bringing this to our attention, we're going to look into this."

I looked for a thread, if there is one already let me know and i'll ask for this to be deleted for being a duplicate.

I remember watching those ads with my mum, Datun, both of us going "wait, that's allowed?" and also "not very convincing is it?"

I know. 😁 It's so, no you are.

ArriettyJones · 13/05/2020 14:30

Thanks @FannyCann , Librivox looks fab.

JamieLeeCurtains · 13/05/2020 15:45

Also interested in Librivox now, thanks Smile

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 13/05/2020 16:10

Hmm. Audible is an Amazon company. I doubt they're going to give a shit that a bunch of professional Twitter complainers are having a moan. I can't see that they've replied to the thread. I'd guess that was a 'thanks for letting us know' and now they're going to ignore it.

Lordfrontpaw · 13/05/2020 16:13

Lucky I’m not manning their twitter account then!

Oh go fuck off and find something better to do. Who are you anyway?

MoleSmokes · 13/05/2020 19:13

I agree that this is not the right place to discuss the "Lads!" Thread Deletion message - so I have started a thread in "Site Stuff" if anyone is interested:

Thanks for the new thread MoleSmokes - I’ve commented. Hope MN give more context to the deletion message.

As for Twatter Tantrums, it looks like Audible reply to everyone, so hopefully it’s a tantrum in a teacup.

FannyCann · 13/05/2020 21:15

A pleasure @ArriettyJones and @JamieLeeCurtains

Yes it would be best if they just leave it, the mob will be onto someone else anyway by now.

Just another alternative to Audible. Many public libraries now offer audio and ebooks. Mine certainly does. They don’t usually have such a wide choice, but libraries are free and the more these services are used, the more libraries will invest in them! Ours has definitely added more titles during lockdown.

Mine too. It’s great, especially now.

I think the two main apps libraries are signed up to are BorrowBox & Libby.

Lordfrontpaw · 15/05/2020 20:42

Any update from a audible? I had a look but think they are keeping quite and going it will all go away.

I think you're right. Pretty sure they're going to ignore it.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 10:47

Bastards. Weasels. Wee fearty bastards.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 11:37

I’ve emailed them. I can’t be bothered with trial by twatter. If I don’t hear I will call and ask them.

TorkTorkBam · 16/05/2020 11:45

Ignoring is good. I doubt they respond to every ludicrous troll.

Still, I would love to see a genius one word answer like "potato" on repeat. Maybe "books".

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 11:49

They did respond to the initial ‘wahwahwah’ tweet though didn’t they?

SarahTancredi · 16/05/2020 11:52

Well someone did.

Given the amount of books they would have to pull if they decided to virtue signal it would get stupid though

Mind u I'd almost like to see that.

Post they have removed their sponsorship then watch them, instead if getting thanked for being such an ally, just see the ever increasing list if books tras want pulled

I'd pay to see that

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 16/05/2020 11:55

Quite. The whole cancel culture thing coming out of the trans movement is just the modern day equivalent of book burning imo

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 12:02

I’ll report back if I hear anything. When companies like this jump on the initial whinge and stroke the complainant - then ignore everyone else and hope not goes away - I tend to walk away.

SarahTancredi · 16/05/2020 12:04

Will back fire though.

How can you debate it explain anything of you wont read both sides.

That used to be taught in schools. We used to discuss allsorts. We were under no obligation to agree with eachother we just had to be respectful and listen and then they would have to listen to.

Whatever side you were on it was still either crucial to acknowledge things you hadnt thought of and improve your " case" or to change your mind.

How is it that once school kids could even cope with this. But fully grown adults now cant even look at a book written by someone who was married to someone who was the sister of someone they disagreed with.

Its pathetic

After all, doesnt the devil know the bible the best and all that.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 12:07

I can only imagine these people at school! Miss! Miss! (ofcourse it would need to be pronoun of choice these days) Betty has committed wrongthink again! Bet they were all ‘that’ prefect.

SarahTancredi · 16/05/2020 12:14

Except back then getting would at least be asked why they thought it was wrong. And probably told to like it or lump it if they cant put a case together.

Lordfrontpaw · 16/05/2020 12:17

In thinking more in a 1984 kind of way!
