I have been lurking on twitter lately and noticed Baroness Nicholson has been very active recently. Amongst her tweets are quite a few gems - letters to Liz Truss, tweets asking for evidence about Stonewall’s involvement CPS guidance just to name two.

This tweet I found very encouraging too.

She has today written to Liz Truss again but this time with her concerns about the gross misinterpretation of the ECHR in the trans toolkits used in schools and recommends that such toolkits are removed from use now. Such support is great news.

I'm often at odds with Butler's perspective but this is one of those moments where you have to feel empathy, imagining what it would be like to receive mad letters from constituents all "I would like you as my MP to stop a member of the House of Lords from using the internet and if you don't I'll probably turn on you next".

Butler is pretty nutty herself, though.

Agreed, but probably not nutty enough to think that she can prevent the Baroness from pursuing whatever she's currently set on pursuing in terms of tweeting, lobbying within the government, etc.

Late to the debate, but am I the only one who thinks the Baroness could be truly formidable if it weren't for a tendency to shoot from the hip on occasion. Be in no doubt that the TRAs will weaponise her missteps.

I would agree if Twitter were the real world, but it isn’t. What is important is the questions she asks, the letters she writes and even more so the people she talks to.

Her responses also show us part of the problem with our representatives; they are so busy that they don’t get the chance to fully understand any particular issue. They take a complaint raised by a constituent and fire off an email without properly understanding the issue which means things like transideology’s harms are not explored, or in cases like the Baroness’s letter are not quite tight enough around the problem that the reply can be weasel word.

I think the Baroness is capable of holding her own.

But yes! Please Steph write to the papers about this!!! I am waiting to buy that edition. ...... patiently.....

It's one thing telling women in general to shut the fuck up, it's quite another telling a peer of the realm in the House of Lords.

I have just read the Baroness’s wiki page. Wow. She is amazing. I can imagine her having something to say on surrogacy too.

SirVix I am amazed by her continued energy. I have seen some tweets that disparage her position as ‘entitled’. Ummmm! No. The very depth of her work in women’s rights and her experiences allow her to cut through the emotive mantras. And enough times her come back is come and sit down and tell me what you need to those who tell her she is disgusting and phobic. I guess she has seen it all...
