I haven't visited but it's local to me. It sounds like a good thing, they need financial support if anyone is willing.

I don't know where they stand on TWAW but I would think non-believers

I'm fairly sure I read their ethos is TWAW. Expect penises. Female ones, obviously.

ducksback · 24/04/2020 12:10

Yup they think that TWAW.

Michelleoftheresistance · 24/04/2020 12:10

They opened their doors very clear that the vagina museum first and foremost was all about males, and male ownership of female bodies and female language. No, no interest in financially supporting them thanks. Not a fan of male supremacism.

Michelleoftheresistance · 24/04/2020 12:12

And that article....... the main taboo they want to break down about women's bodies, is the belief that women are female.

toriap2 · 24/04/2020 12:20

But but surely all the er.... people who they have shown that they respect and appreciate more than women will be fully supporting them and funding them.

ducksback · 24/04/2020 12:20

Penis people?

HavartiToSeeYou · 24/04/2020 12:22

I’ve been. There is no mention of penises or male bodied people.

toriap2 · 24/04/2020 12:29

They believe feminism should include males and use the c word so it’s a hard pass from me.

ducksback · 24/04/2020 12:32

Among the museums goals are to “erase the stigma around the body and gynaecological anatomy”, “challenge heteronormative and cisnormative behaviour”, and “act as a forum for feminism, women’s rights, the LGBT+ community and the intersex community”

Hmmm.

teawamutu · 24/04/2020 12:38

They dropped their work with Jess de Wahls after she dared express GC views: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3735283-Embroidery-Instagrammer-targeted-by-TRAs-and-the-woke-now

teawamutu · 24/04/2020 12:40

So no support from me, I'm afraid. I reserve mine for organisations that can cope with reality. A real shame, though.

HighNetGirth · 24/04/2020 12:53

So...what are you saying? The Vagina Museum is run by twats?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 24/04/2020 13:10

Yeah, nah. It was a great idea, but I'm not interested in TWAW projects.

Michelleoftheresistance · 24/04/2020 13:34

Grin

Not as much as you might hope.

Davros · 24/04/2020 13:44

How disappointing. I thought MN would know more about it than I do. I won't be donating or visiting

take a look at their website shop - tells you all you need you know
this is not a female centered organisation

JellySlice · 24/04/2020 15:30

I went in a few months ago, read their notice board informing me that they celebrate the vagina in all its forms, natural and surgically created, and the experiences of all people who have vaginas, and walked right out again. They are full-on TWAW Twats.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/04/2020 15:58

I came to say... nope. They have odd ideas and I'm amazed they lasted this long. They can always ask their friends at Starbucks and Tesco etc to put their hands in their pockets cant they?

ElizaCrouch · 24/04/2020 16:06

I can recall them posting on twitter sometime ago that TWAW. Or words to that effect. It might have even been a year ago or more. That was a big 'debate' about it which meant them doubling down on statement and some people refusing to donate to them because it's a vagina museum, not a penis museum.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/04/2020 16:09

I think that was when they were opening or trying to raise funds to open.

If they backed off they would probably be able to raise funds to be honest - if they fiercely protected women's rights and stood up for us, yes, Id put my hand in my pocket. That's the fact - women will put their money where their mouths are.

ElizaCrouch · 24/04/2020 16:17

Just looked at the web site. Its definitely woke with she / her pronouns. And a statement in prick news from them saying that TWAW pretty much. So no donations from me. If I was going to donate to anything it would be a woman centred organisation.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/04/2020 16:21

It's tempting to tweet them 'I would have donated - but you seem to have been brainwashed, so it's going to XXX instead'
