I haven't visited but it's local to me. It sounds like a good thing, they need financial support if anyone is willing.

And, I’m putting the debit card down.

We celebrate everything about vaginas. Especially their erasure.

stillathing · 24/04/2020 18:05

It's pretty likely that there's only room for one vagina museum in London. Imagine how dangerous it would be if that museum was a truly feminist place. A lot of teens and young people will visit. You wouldn't want to risk them feeling any connection with their mothers and grandmothers (ie witches) before them through shared biology. You wouldn't want to risk undermining the patriarchy by offering a glimpse of a truly female centred world. And you really wouldn't want to risk undoing the considerable effort that's gone into grooming young women to ignore their boundaries and make sure they centre males at all times.

I doubt they'll last long, tbh. Get off your knees, ffs!!

No chance will I donate. People like this annoy the hell out of me...they are in a great position to do something for women and inspire girls and what do they do? Pander to dick. Let's see if their TW mates cough up. I think they'll be waiting a long time.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/04/2020 19:57

Oh please, please, tell us if we are bad, please, we’ve been good - see, we’ve been good... (but no women).

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 24/04/2020 20:43

It's a walking apology for even considering women, isn't it? Bending over backwards to ask how they can possibly be re educated to find better ways to include males in the vagina museum.

Michelleoftheresistance · 24/04/2020 20:55

The whole thing has always felt to me as phrased as male born people's celebration of their womanhood. Appropriated, colonised, fetishized. With the clear messages that females will damn well know their place in the hierarchy. And dressed up into the language of classic feminism: it's all woman power and woman essence, which has been appropriated too but for a very different agenda, and empowering or even considering females is nowhere in it. It just makes me want to hand over the mansized tissues and get as far away as possible.

slipperywhensparticus · 24/04/2020 21:10

From what I remember the penis museum is just that penis and nothing else ?

So why does the vagina museum need a penis?

PlanDeRaccordement · 24/04/2020 21:20

Even if it were all female vaginas, I would not go.
It’s reductionist and dehumanising to have a museum on vaginas. Women are so much more.

I agree. It is an absurd and pointless concept.

Michelleoftheresistance · 25/04/2020 09:33

why does the vagina museum need a penis?

Because otherwise female humans might be seen to have something that male humans haven't got first, better, total control and dominance over and is all about the males .

And the deafening waaaaaaaaaaaaaah and drummed heels and deluging emails and high drama with flouncing about exclusion and erasure and enough hyperbole to drown a duck in ensues.

Love a Vagina Museum thread.
The International Banana Museum looks like more fun, though, for when this tiresome pandemic is over and we can travel again.

The Penis Museum is in Reykjavik, I particularly like the Honorary Members section (208 at last count)

I apologise for being naive and uninformed about the VM but this thread has really helped me discover what they're all about. MN is my best and most honest resource.

No need to apologise Davros. Some things are just unbelievable. I mean - a vagina museum that is so ignorant about human biology (and no doubt terrified of aggressive men) that it has to centre the penis. Who'd have thought it?
The level of capture that has happened over women's identity, spaces, biology, language and rights has been depressingly breathtaking.

SunsetBeetch · 07/05/2020 15:47

The madness continues:

"My heart is broken. Blocked by the Vagina Museum in Camden for ridiculing this sign. And I SO wanted to go there and learn all about my vageen. I may never recover from this crippling blow. "

They are tweeting nonsense like billy-o. I guess they are waving flags to try to get attention from those who believe their nonsense.

DidoLamenting · 09/05/2020 12:05

It was always a nonsensical idea.

I see they have launched a crowdfunder which has raised over £16,000. Perhaps the people who donated have pots of cash and are donating to many charities and organisations but I'm astonished anyone thinks this deserves support when there are so many other far more deserving causes.

Here are some photos of the museum- it's pretty underwhelming.

Lordfrontpaw · 10/05/2020 22:05
