According the 'Diva Survey' Hmm (groundbreaking research into the lives of LGBTQI women), "86% of LGBTQI women are aware of media coverage about the transphobic attitudes of a small group of lesbians". Of course this is accompanied by a quote of "trans women are women".

There are no details on how many people were interviewed or where the research took place.

Further along the Visible Lesbian 100 page there is a lovely bit of explaining that if you define lesbian as a women who is sexually attracted to other women then you are guilty of narrow and prejudiced thinking!

Honestly, I'm not a lesbian but I'm just so pissed off at this! AngryAngry

Oh its the #VisibleLesbian100 list . Sponsored by... etc etc etc. Including a large pharma company.

I haven’t dared to look to see who the other 99 are. I suspect I may be disappointed.

HorseRadishFemish · 24/04/2020 10:34

Christ, have you seen their webpage? "Toxic thinking" FFS!

No more Susan Calman, then...

Winesalot · 24/04/2020 10:46

Michelleoftheresistance

I know! It is normalizing the ideology in the next generation. And thereby creating segregation. Who benefits? Males, as you say!!

As I said, this has not been taught in any of her classes. This is word of mouth and it upsets my daughter hugely to be told that it is not correct information. She simply will not believe that her view is wrong because ‘I am old and hetero’. I am just trying to get her to think critically at the moment though.

Lordfrontpaw · 24/04/2020 11:19

Magdeline Berns. Just point her thattaway.

Winesalot · 24/04/2020 11:30

Lordfrontpaw That was my immediate thought so I have been rewatching Magdelen. Then I thought Arielle. But she might be a tad young for either yet. Smile When the time comes, I need to do it in a way that she ‘finds’ them herself as she will have her back up straightaway.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 24/04/2020 11:33

Oh! The BalfourBeatty transwoman seems to get votes for all of these polls. There must surely be a real lesbian in some big business somewhere...

SunsetBeetch · 24/04/2020 17:28

"Sexual liberty" is one way of putting it, I suppose.

"A writer covering issues including political and sexual liberty, @JaneFae is a prominent transgender campaigner and named on our #VisibleLesbian100 list this year! #LesbianVisibilityWeek #LVW20 t.co/qKNPsarG7E t.co/SnKoW1dWqa "

“DIVA Magazine’s astonishing attack on lesbians this Lesbian Visibility Week is supported by a number of corporations who must be held to account.”

uncommongroundmedia.com/corporations-sponsor-extreme-porn-advocate-in-attack-on-lesbians-for-lesbian-visibility-week/

Winesalot · 24/04/2020 18:21

Fae has been described as a champion of free speech. I saw someone saying that to denounce this person’s views was to deny free speech. My eye’s rolled out of my head.

Free speech... yes. But to call them a champion of it, no.

And when does supporting extreme porn, victim shaming DV victims and saying the perpetrators would not be murderers if not for women’s eggshell skulls and that females are not pulling their weight which is why males die of CV mean you are a ‘Top’ anything but misogynistic fetish promoter let alone a Top Lesbian?

And Diva is blocking Lesbians who disagree!

MedusasButterDish · 24/04/2020 18:29

Diva blocked me, too, even though I'm not even a lesbian! Mind you, we heterosexual women also know a thing or two about males who won't be told "no" 🙄, and I am absolutely with our lesbian sisters in solidarity on this.

Winesalot · 24/04/2020 20:04

Agreed MedusasButterDish.

witchesaremysisters · 24/04/2020 20:11

This is such a low point.
They have an opportunity to highlight 100 women-loving-women.
And they pick.......... Jane Fae, previously known as John Ozimek.
I have no words to describe my contempt for this decision.

Godxilla · 24/04/2020 21:29

Sorry. I haven't read all the posts because I am incandescent with with fury. I am a straight WOMAN. I would not want go into a lesbian space because I respect my lesbians sisters. The audacity of men is mind blowing. For fuvkin shells sake. NB: I've kept the last sentence as it is , as even spell check was having problems with my rage( this post has been a bloody editing problem).

GivesNoFox · 25/04/2020 17:36

I've posed this question before but still haven't found an answer.

The Diva magazine twitter has more than 82k followers, the Lesbian visibility week one just a little over 1000 followers, neither of these two twitter handles seem to be getting much interaction or retweets on their posts on a whole. The highest comments by far seem to be on the their post about Fae and the majority of posters are calling them out on their BS.

While I consider this a good thing as it means they are not getting the attention they want my question is how do these publications make money to stay afloat when they are obviously not pulling in an audience anything close to regularly?

MedusasButterDish · 28/04/2020 07:12

Credit, grants, believers and virtue-signalling sponsors are all possibilities, @GivesNoFox

SapphosRock · 28/04/2020 14:50

It always amazes me on these threads how incensed straight women suddenly become when lesbians choose to be trans inclusive.

I'm a lesbian and it doesn't generally bother me when other lesbians believe TWAW.

I wish lesbians could have the same support from straight women on things that really affect us, like not getting funding for IVF on the NHS for example when straight couples do. Nobody seems interested in being a lesbian ally then.

Apollo440 · 28/04/2020 15:01

It's the ones who don't believe TWAW that concerns us. When will your mates stop bullying them?

SapphosRock · 28/04/2020 16:23

Because all lesbians are mates with each other 😂 Confused

GivesNoFox · 28/04/2020 16:36

Speak for yourself @SapphosRock, I'm a lesbian and I'm fed up with the Transgender community and their handmaiden's of constantly colonizing things that don't belong to them. They need everyday to be Transgender visibility day and they demand everything revolve around their identity.

Their narcissism affects the lesbian community and women on a whole in an extremely negative way and they don't give a fuck as long as they get what they want exactly how they want it.

I appreciate both my lesbian & straight female friends who choose reality and common sense over ideology, because when ideology becomes the norm, ultimately women and girls suffer the most. Just the action of having someone like Fae on that list, a male who is an extreme porn advocate and ran a blog down-playing domestic abuse and very recently made a thread essentially shitting on women's roles during this pandemic shows how publications like Diva and the queer women who support their mentality have put virtue signalling above the women they claim to support.

If you want to be part of that, that's up to you but don't turn this into a stupid lesbian/ straight issue, the lesbian visibility week BS is just a microcosm of something that is affecting the sex based rights of ALL females.

witchesaremysisters · 28/04/2020 17:02

Did they delete the Jane Fae tweet?

Lordfrontpaw · 28/04/2020 17:16

Don’t know but I’m not going looking for it (shudder).

Winesalot · 28/04/2020 17:35

Really? Straight women cannot be outraged that Fae, with the things this person says about females , is held up as being a stellar human?

Lordfrontpaw · 28/04/2020 17:48

Women are bottom of the pile when it comes to offence. Men are at the top.

Datun · 28/04/2020 18:12

It always amazes me on these threads how incensed straight women suddenly become when lesbians choose to be trans inclusive.

There are loads of lesbians on this board, and on this thread. You've made that mistake before, I believe.

Lesbians are the ones coming in for the attacks, more than anyone else, because certain straight men want to be validated in their cross dressing, using the women they want to fuck.

And actually, it's about all sexual orientations, including heterosexuality. If sexual orientation is not based on sex, it undermines every orientation.

Are heterosexual men going to be told that their sexual orientation towards women is unjustifiably discriminatory towards certain men??

witchesaremysisters · 28/04/2020 18:22

Males who later call themselves lesbians often have straight female partners (or ex-partners) who entered those relationships with heterosexual men. (Including Fae/Ozimek.)
I wonder how it might feel to see an ex-husband of 20 years and father of your child nominated for... being a visible lesbian?
I think all women have much to contribute to these conversations.
