Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

Why is it called tea?

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:57

I'm in Lancashire. Rural. Proper tea shops though we usually take a flask.

Why would anyone want tea with a straw and bits in?Confused

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 23:57

Sometimes instead of the tapioca it has jelly. DH loves the kind called grass jelly, which is not made of grass - no idea what it's flavored with actually but it's good, though I prefer the coconut jelly.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 08/04/2020 23:58

Sorry yes, it's made with tea, hence the name. Usually milky I think, I've only seen them made with milk

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 23:58

It's called tea because the liquid bit is made of tea, usually. Sometimes they mix it with fruit juice.

Shock
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 23:59

I'm not knocking British style tea but it's not really the thing you want if it's hot and humid and you're walking around in the sun. Bubble tea comes with ice.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 08/04/2020 23:59

I haven't had a pearl milk tea in about ten years, this thread is making me very nostalgic, thanks OP!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 23:59

Jelly in tea? So the tea is cold?

FloralBunting · 09/04/2020 00:00

Oh my good god.

Milky tea with fruit juice and tapioca? That is dry fecking boak inducing.

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 00:00

I think bubble tea is more of a thing in cities with a high population of students from the Far East, isn't it? (Are we still allowed to call China Etc that?)

I don't fancy it. (Lumpy warm milkshake, when I don't even like non lumpy, cold milkshake Envy)

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 09/04/2020 00:00

Yep, iced tea! You can get it hot if you want but yuck.

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 00:01

Oh I'd assumed it was warm. Still don't want lumpy milky tea cold.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 09/04/2020 00:01

But yeah it's a hot humid climate thing, started in Taiwan.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 09/04/2020 00:01

I guess it's not for everyone but it's very refreshing

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 00:02

That's not the kind of attitude that built the empire kittens Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 00:03

Ah well... If you caught the 'Lancashire' part you can probably estimate the local requirement for bubble tea.

FloralBunting · 09/04/2020 00:03

Oh, it's not warm? Slightly better. Marginally.

I don't like milky tea, though. Can't imagine I'd like it more cold with teeny fish eye beads in it.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 09/04/2020 00:04

Example for those who're wondering what the hell this looks like.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 09/04/2020 00:04

Not to mention the choking hazard which is definitely worth it Grin

Winesalot · 09/04/2020 00:05

Forget bubble tea. There is nothing like a lime iced tea freshly made in Bangkok.

But balls in tea ....

My mum used to send me to school with two Weetbix with butter in between. (Yes Weetbix not Weetabix). She used to have hot water and milk over her Weetbix with sliced banana every morning.

FloralBunting · 09/04/2020 00:06

Riiight. So it's cold tea for when you want to pretend you're holding a beer instead?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 09/04/2020 00:06

Just cold milk and sugar for me please (on the Weetabix). I haven't had it in years, nostalgic now!

Winesalot · 09/04/2020 00:07

Mind you I would eat tapioca above caviar. That is a texture I cannot handle.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 09/04/2020 00:07

Weetabix... Even the smell makes me feel ill
