I’m sure they were asking for your ‘sex at birth’ previously?

They absolutely WERE asking for sex at birth a few days ago when I signed up.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 29/03/2020 22:54

Yes, Clitterati, same here when I signed up. Have got over myself and will continue to add data, in the hope that it helps, but it really REALLY fucks me off that this happens.

Kit19 · 30/03/2020 07:37

If anyone needs to get over themselves it’s the TRA. In a global pandemic where biological males are at a far greater risk of death than biological females, TRA have decided that the scientific survey used to capture crucial data needs to include the magical sex assigning fucking sorting hat

It’s embarrassing and pathetic

AnyOldSpartabix · 30/03/2020 08:50

I was about to say something similar to Kit19. In a global crisis, these people are still so narcissistic that they had to make it all about them.

is behind Zoe is still in the pandering mindset because it’s been programmed in to our society and hasn’t yet been reversed fully.

But both the UK and Scottish Parliaments have kicked GRA aside for now. That is a huge difference we have made. Had we done nothing, self-ID would probably be law by now throughout the UK.

And when this crisis has passed, nobody is going to have an ounce of sympathy left for narcs and their false victimhood.

Point out, if you wish, that the incoherent language they are now using might make it harder for people to understand. But don’t let this get you down.

AnyOldSpartabix · 30/03/2020 08:51

...Whoever is behind Zoe...

DickKerrLadies · 30/03/2020 09:54

It's been changed?

How fucking pointless.

Everyone knows what sex is.

If somebody 'assigned' me a sex, it wasn't at birth as my sex was already known. Does that mean I can't answer that question? Utterly ridiculous. Surely they should change it so that I too can feel 'validated'.

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 11:07

Who does every flippin thing have to centre gender ID these days? In most instances it is irrelevant and in some downright dangerous to classify on the basis of feelings over biology. And downright insulting to some of us.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 30/03/2020 11:44

I totally agree, all.

Cuntysnark · 30/03/2020 12:31

I’m afraid I’ve deleted it as no sense will be made of the data rendering it worthless.

DidoLamenting · 30/03/2020 14:51

Cuntysnark

I’m afraid I’ve deleted it as no sense will be made of the data rendering it worthless

I think that is very odd stance to take.

Firstly the vast majority of people will have answered the question based on their sex and will have paid no notice to this.

Secondly the app has, as a poster pointed out, a work around for trans people who are answering it relation to their gender.

Thirdly the numbers of people who don't answer it based on biological sex will be tiny.

Fourthly the app is designed to identify who aren't feeling well. That is its primary purpose. There might be evidence men are affected more but it's not a pressing point.

But if you want to cut your nose off to spite your face, it's your choice.

Apollo440 · 30/03/2020 15:34

'assigned at birth'? No I'll only cooperate with real scientists based in reality. If you can't get that right I don't believe they are professionals.

We can point out the glitch/bug by email.

MrsSnippyPants · 30/03/2020 15:47

I had a response to my email but guess it's just a generic one:

"Thank you so much for providing your feedback. The response we've had to our COVID Symptom Tracker app has been fantastic and overwhelming.

I will pass your feedback on to the rest of the team to see if we can make this happen. We are constantly reviewing the latest research and advice from scientists to keep our list of questions and symptoms as up to date and accurate as possible; please continue to check your phone for app updates.

We appreciate your continued support to #slowthespread."

Scientists! 🤣

MrsSnippyPants · 30/03/2020 17:11

Well fancy that.........

bellinisurge · 30/03/2020 17:20

But if it even bothers indulging unscientific nonsense, how can it be relied upon.
It might as well ask whether you are a Jedi or not.
Covid-19 is affecting biologically born men more than biologically born women. Not transmen more than transwomen.
It skews the result if that data isn't collected properly.
Covid-19 doesn't give a shit how you feel or what you identify as.
Your biological sex appears to make a difference as well as your age.

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 17:39

Of course it would be fascinating if it affected trans people more or less than non trans people. But I somehow suspect not.

OhHolyJesus · 30/03/2020 17:40

A bit like male pattern violence I imagine that transwomen and men will suffer equal levels of infection rates as cohorts because they all have one thing in common.

RiotAndAlarum · 30/03/2020 17:48

I just don't understand why everyone gives in, especially when it's clearly wrong to so (changing rooms come to mind). What on earth do they think is going to happen if they ignore it, or refuse? Sure, there might be less trans uptake of ZOE/ the Covid app, but could a boycott by such a small population really make a difference?! Truly? By contrast, a demand that threatens the integrity and usefulness of data which could help everyone (including those with a Special Gender Identity, but crucially not limited to them)... is just breathtakingly reckless and selfish. And they pull this shitty stunt again and again.

PicturesOfCats · 30/03/2020 17:54

I suppose they think it’s such a tiny proportion of people, it won’t meaningfully affect the data. They all seem to shit themselves as it always seems to be framed as you’re breaking the law and liable to be sued.
I feel like when GC point out that companies are not abiding by the law, it doesn’t have as much of that threat of legal Action feel to it.
Might be wrong, but that’s the impression I get.

MrsSnippyPants · 30/03/2020 18:08

So basically a bunch of scientists caved in to the demand of two ladies on Twitter. Well I never.

OP posts:
Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 18:13

Ladies? What if a few thousand women asked for them to start adding like grown ups and just put ‘sex’? How do tot think that would go down?

Needmoresleep · 30/03/2020 18:17

Could it be linked to the fact that the app is now, as of yesterday, collecting data from the USA as well as the UK.

Perhaps researchers there are even more careful about offending the easily offended.

Doesn't Sarah Brown have anything else to worry about? A huge epidemic, peoples lives turned upside down, and she is still fussing about identity. It seems so 2019.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 30/03/2020 18:29

I saw them say somewhere that was the standard questionnaire questions used in the US?

R0wantrees · 30/03/2020 18:30

Doesn't Sarah Brown have anything else to worry about? A huge epidemic, peoples lives turned upside down, and she is still fussing about identity. It seems so 2019.

Sarah Brown has been determined to change/control health provison for many years believing "It's not just the NHS that is institutionally transphobic, it's the whole medical establishment"

www.theguardian.com/society/2013/jan/22/voices-from-trans-community-prejudice

Brown insists that males who identify as women be treated as female in healthcare & asserts this for themself.
