Caitlyn Jenner on Mrs Brown

I've heard about this person, seen a head shot or two but not read much.
Tonight I've tuned into All Round To Mrs Brown's out of curiosity.
I'm disturbed. My brain will not compute this very tall person, with a plastic face, skinny masculine legs, odd body shape in a dress and a masculine voice is a woman. My brain just says no. It will not accept the lie. And the things they said just compounded that. 10 kids, had Olympic swimmers, and has retired the erm, requisite anatomy rather than removing it. I don't find this person inspirational at all despite what they are saying on the show. How is this inspirational? I don't know much about them but how are we to align these two things when we know that what we are being told is not truth? Biologically we are designed to identify a persons sex (a wise poster explained this on another thread) so how can we separate the truth from the falsehood and more importantly, why should we accept what is not true?

I was on another forum when somebody posted a very mild questioning post, not too dissimilar to yours and I posted "I was going to post but I see you've covered it"
Simply doing this was enough have the post removed and a threatening DM telling me if I did it again it would be a ban.
Just agreeing with somebody is enough.
This is where we are.

teawamutu · 21/03/2020 23:53

Most people feel the same. They're just too polite or scared of repercussions to say so.

JellySlice · 22/03/2020 00:02

I don't see in what way Jenner is different to "Mrs Brown".

testing987654321 · 22/03/2020 00:15

More sporty? Same sex obviously.

Defenbaker · 22/03/2020 00:16

@JellySlice - if anything, "Mrs Brown" is more convincing as a woman, IMO.

Jenner gets on my nerves, and the way people fawn over her/him is very odd, it's like they're desperate to be seen to be PC and are trying hard to be seen to accept the trans agenda that is being pushed at us from every angle.

aliasundercover · 22/03/2020 00:16

This is a bit of a 'King's new clothes' situation.

Everyone can see the king is naked, but nobody wishes to point it out while everyone else is going along with it. All we can do is keep telling the truth.

bemoreeverything · 22/03/2020 00:18

Surely Mrs Brown is simply a character whereas Caitlin Jenner is not supposed to be

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 22/03/2020 00:53

I kind of got the impression that Mrs Brown was taking the piss somewhat and using comedy as a cover for that. CJ's either a good actor and pretended to be surprised at the comments and questions or was genuinely unimpressed. Lots of very personal questions disguised as comedy I thought. The original show was always good for ad-libbing and I found it very funny the first time round. I know a fair few on mumsnet don't find it funny at all though. Kathy Brown was very much fawning all over CJ. Maybe Mrs Brown was genuinely amused that he does the whole pretending to be a woman for a comedy show and CJ does it and it's a lifestyle choice and expects to be taken seriously. Mrs B is definitely more believable as a woman and the pretence there doesn't set off my alarm bells like CJ does. Mrs B is quite wholesome in her character. There's nothing threatening about the character. There's just fun. I hope that makes sense.

this very tall person, with a plastic face, skinny masculine legs, odd body shape in a dress and a masculine voice

Has Mrs Brown been working out?

TurnOffTheTv · 22/03/2020 08:12

Only 6 kids surely?

RoseLalique · 22/03/2020 08:12

I thought the same when I watched I’m a Celebrity.

TheLinerunner · 22/03/2020 08:18

I can't imagine any televisual experience worse than watching 'Mrs Brown' in conversation with Jenner

TheClitterati · 22/03/2020 08:45

Jenner is a male human and clearly presents as one. A dress, wig & lippy does nothing to change that.

We see what we see.

Some people pretend to believe, rather naively & mostly in good faith, that people can change sex. But even these people know it isn't true. It's hard, impossible??, to trust people who are prepared to go to such lengths to deceive themselves.

JaneJeffer · 22/03/2020 08:51

a threatening DM telling me if I did it again it would be a ban.
Who was the DM from? Report them.

Don't watch Mrs. B but Caitlyn Jenner seems like a nice person from what I've seen.

SentimentalKiller · 22/03/2020 09:23

What channel was it on?
I'd like to watch

Nanamilly · 22/03/2020 09:29

Right oh.

Lordamighty · 22/03/2020 09:31

I watched CJ on I’m a Celeb, they came across quite well but it was the fawning by the other celebs that was grating.
I also got the impression that it’s the cross dressing that CJ likes and CJ doesn’t really think they have changed sex.

JellySlice · 22/03/2020 09:34

Reminds me of Caroline Aherne/Mrs Merton interviewing Chris Ewbank. He seemed genuinely unaware that this was a spoof show.

Melioration · 22/03/2020 09:40

Sarah Stuart (?) on Twitter did a thread on this. She usually goes to conferences and meetings so we don’t have to.

I am really glad I didn’t have to watch this. I can’t stand it at the best of times.

I once watched an episode where the supposed mother who wears knee length drawers (like my grandma who was behind the times and would be 107 if she was still alive) running around hiding in cupboards in an attempt to home wax his supposed fanny.

It is like a cross dressing rubbish version of Bread, and that was bad enough.

Tardis John Barrowman speaking in his natural Scots accent

I'm always puzzled by Grayson Perry and Eddie Izzard.

Grayson has always been emphatic that he is NOT transgender - he is just a man who wears clothes traditionally associated with women. His wife knew that from the day she met him.

Eddie Izzard was similar until he came out as transgender (he says he is fine with either he or she as a pronoun) - still has a male sounding voice - doesn't appear to have had any surgery or hormone treatment.

So as far as I can see they are both biologically male, like wearing "female" clothes and as far as I can see aren't hurting anyone. Yet we are supposed to "see" them differently.

Lordfrontpaw · 23/03/2020 08:40

Joke?

HorseRadishFemish · 23/03/2020 09:09

Two parrots sat on a perch, one says: can you smell fish?

Lordfrontpaw · 23/03/2020 11:31

Arf! It's just so hard to know what's Titiana these days...
