Best wishes to all the women on this board. These are strange and troubling times and this board has been a place of support, intelligent debate and eye opening information. Even two weeks ago feels like a different planet. Hope everyone stays well.

Amen to that.

OhHolyJesus · 19/03/2020 10:00

And to you Bovary

I've been reminded of war stories and the women who held families and frankly, the country together.

We shall overcome and all that uplifting, resolute stuff.

I salute you all.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 19/03/2020 10:20

Absolutely. Flowers

chilling19 · 19/03/2020 10:27

andyoldlabour · 19/03/2020 10:37

Everyone, please stay safe.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/03/2020 10:40

Hugs to everyone, no matter how unMumsnetty that is! It's a scary point in time in multiple ways, all you can really do is brace yourself and hope for the best.

BovaryX · 19/03/2020 10:44

Yes, well said Kitten And best wishes to everyone and andy too of course! It has been such a dramatic turn of events and the global ramifications of this are who knows what.

I'm currently with my parents in the country. I came down on 28th February because they were both ill (not the bloody virus) and then it all took off. They're both 91 and I am 60 + and very vulnerable due to my health. My parents still need me as they're taking time to recover, given their age.

My sons have begged me to stay on after the aged Ps are back to normal as they feel I'm much safer here than in Surrey. My DSD is worried sick about all three of us, poor woman.

Anyway, it's a bit strange living here but I'm very glad to be supporting my parents, who are lovely. A devoted couple. We get on very well.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/03/2020 10:52

We have already received offers of help from two people nearby. It's very touching.

I hope everyone here stays safe. It's wonderful to hear from you all. Sending unMumsnetty love.

BovaryX · 19/03/2020 10:53

Prawn
It's good that you are with your parents and in a 'safer' location. Blimey, what stressful times these are. It's particularly stressful for those with an underlying health condition. It's batten down the hatches time. Isn't it interesting how quickly such a bizarre state of affairs becomes the new normal?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/03/2020 10:56

I know my DF, like me, needs his own space. I braced myself and asked him if he realised I might be with them for the foreseeable future. "How lovely", he replied. I was very moved.

Though I'm not sure how he'll feel in another couple of weeks... Grin

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/03/2020 11:01

It's honestly been a pleasure to get to know many of the women here. Shame we didn't have a more pleasant subject to bond over, but hey!

I'm terrified for my dad, who really doesn't seem to be taking the fact that there's a pandemic going on seriously at all. My DH caught and survived swine flu, and I didn't catch it even when he had it, so I'm fairly confident we'll both be OK, but older family members and those with less than ideal immune systems I'm very worried for.

ChattyLion · 19/03/2020 11:12

Gin Flowers love to everyone on FWR.

StarintheMorning · 19/03/2020 11:14

Thank you all for being my go to community. I name change frequently, but have been posting for about three years now. Steep learning curve once I found you, can’t imagine being without you all now.

I am concerned that all of these issues will be seen as being trivial in comparison to CV, and that women (because who else does this fall to, still) will have to deal with supporting family, finding food etc so our time will be taken up elsewhere, leaving a wide open chasm for more institutional and governmental capture.

Virtual hugs, because we can still do those.

littlbrowndog · 19/03/2020 11:27

Yeah great bunch here. Getting a great education here for sure

🥰🥰👏👏

Still missing Lang 😣😣

Languishingfemale · 19/03/2020 11:45

Another one hugely grateful for this wonderful group of women.

Floisme · 19/03/2020 11:50

Cheers to you to Bovary - I always look out for your posts. And to everyone on here and to absent friends. Safe safe.

ScapaFlo · 19/03/2020 11:58

Can I join in too please? I was in the throes of setting up in business on my own for the first time ever but those plans are currently shelved due to the paucity if work. And I can't visit either my own mum or my MIL due to care home restrictions and my DH is working from home so I'm going a bit stir crazy. My ironing pile is smaller Grin

Good luck to all

Cuntysnark · 19/03/2020 12:02

I feel like I know some of you so well. In the absolute depths of my despair there’s always been one of you posting something I can gather hope from, laugh at (when we are allowed) and ‘do’ and god knows I’ve done nearly every call to action. I know we’ll be here for each other through this. Thank you all.

Chrysanthemum5 · 19/03/2020 12:08

Great thread this board is a source of wisdom.

I'm reminded of my aunt who raised her 7 brothers after their mother died. She was a force of nature! Brought them all alive through times of real hardship, and the Second World War without access to healthcare. She used to send them out poaching to get rabbits, and turned the garden into a veg garden that they all had to work on.

Datun · 19/03/2020 13:36

Oh yeah, you lot are bloody brilliant.

And it's not like any of us are going anywhere, right?!

Here's to it 🥂

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 19/03/2020 15:59

Thanks bovery

Stay well everyone 💞

andyoldlabour · 19/03/2020 16:10

Imagine what self isolation would be like without the internet, we take all this for granted now.
Went for a walk in the countryside earlier on with DW, saw hardly any other people which was good.
I go to the local shop late each night, but only go in if there are no other customers, I can't afford to take the risk.

Thelnebriati · 19/03/2020 16:18

Good luck everyone.

I just want to say, make best use of the internet now, join the women's prepper and husbandry forums. They are a great source of support as well as information.
