Regarding Jonathon Liew. When he published that article in the Independent promoting trans women's participation in female sport, I looked back through his Twitter timeline over the preceding six months and he had only tweeted three times about women's sport. Not great for the chief sportswriter of a national newspaper who was tweeting between one and four times daily.

He's now moved to the Guardian and the other week he published an article about the forthcoming Tokyo Olympics, which mentioned five famous athletes. Funnily enough they were all women!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 13/03/2020 19:19

I see ol Gazza is presenting Sport Relief tonight.

Bit of a "cancellation" fail by the TRAs there. I bet his mere presence on screen is making them all feel very unsafe and at risk in their living rooms right now!

THAT’s who Jonathon Liew is!
I’ve read a few of his Guardian articles and they were terrible. I was wondering how he got the job - clearly being able to write/having some sort of insight is less important than having the correct woke ideology.

Helmetbymidnight · 13/03/2020 19:51

are they all really bad?!

his piece on transwomen must have chance to compete against women was woeful.

aliasundercover · 13/03/2020 19:52

This was my ‘favourite’ bit from his trans-athletes piece:

Let’s say transgender athletes pour into women’s sport, and let’s say, despite the flimsy and poorly-understood relationship between testosterone and elite performance, they dominate everything they touch. They sweep up Grand Slam tennis titles and cycling world championships. They monopolise the Olympics. They fill our football and cricket and netball teams. Why would that be bad? Really? Imagine the power of a trans child or teenager seeing a trans athlete on the top step of the Olympic podium. In a way, it would be inspiring.

That’s an awful lot of words - he could have just said “fuck women, they don’t matter”.

Shock Shock Shock

DrySnitch · 13/03/2020 20:27

Please tell me Brian Cox is GC?

TinselAngel · 13/03/2020 20:30

Please tell me Brian Cox is GC?

His wife is. He's kept out of it so far.

zanahoria · 13/03/2020 20:31

"I see ol Gazza is presenting Sport Relief tonight"

has he sobered up?

DrySnitch · 13/03/2020 20:51

Thanks Tinsel. I'm going to assume he is too 😬

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 13/03/2020 21:13

No way could Gia Milinovich be married to someone who was anti-women. I am 100% sure he knows what biological sex is and how it matters in women's lives, but he's probably been gagged by the BBC.

Qcng · 14/03/2020 09:36

Christ Almighty, Jonathan Liew?
"Why would that be bad?" Men winning at all women's sports?????

Just... ... Is this stupidity or actual hatred of women?

Jonathan getting woke points in lieu of thinking.
I wonder if he's actually thinking now.

CaptainKirksSpikeyGhost · 14/03/2020 09:44

I see ol Gazza is presenting Sport Relief tonight.

I bet the BBC are regretting that now.
He's done a Gervais, been gender critical too close to the event for it the be canceled.

HerRoyalCarbyLess · 14/03/2020 09:45

I really hope this makes more people feel able to stand up and say that sex is very real and very important.
