Ranging from Munroe Bergdorf to Sadiq Khan.

British Glamour is a women's magazine.

And this is to celebrate International Women's Day.

boatyardblues · 08/03/2020 11:35

Fuckin’ A! Hmm

SurpriseSparDay · 08/03/2020 11:37

Nine? Almost a third of them?

Fuck ...

DuchessDumbarton · 08/03/2020 11:45
  1. Michelle Obama (oh yes)
  2. Jameela Jamil
  3. Monroe Bergdof (like hell am I inspired by MB)
  4. Andy Murray
  5. Adwoa Aboah

So, by my uneducated reading 2 out of the top 5, think that men can become women.

InYourPhilosophy · 08/03/2020 11:45

I’m so so sick of this. Why can’t we just celebrate women without having to include men. It’s like we have to start from the beginning and fight for our rights as women all over again.

And of course the fact that men always underestimate women then get angry when women start saying no and not rolling over like good girls is why we will always fight for our rights and keep on fighting, even if we have to go through this every decade we will.

jadefinch · 08/03/2020 11:46

And of the 21 women, sorry womxn, they include feminist icons like Jameela Jamil, the woman who says she's inspired by Danielle 'if you don't think I'm a woman you can suck my dick' Muscato

And all over facebook women are screeching "what about men" "what about there mental health"

We are doing this to ourselves

DuchessDumbarton · 08/03/2020 11:49

Oh yes, Slippery.
I was at a women's business development day recently; quite inspiring.

At the end, a young woman turned to me, agreed that this was good, inspiring, glad we came etc.
Then confidentially leaned into me and asked "but what about the men?"
I combusted.
Not sorry.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 08/03/2020 11:52

Oh Glamour was one of the first things to open my eyes to all this - when they started having the columns by Juno Dawson. So I gave up on them long ago.

Interesting article from 2016 here: www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/voices/juno-dawson-glamour-magazine-terf-gender-identification-feminism-germaine-greer-a7403016.html%3famp

LambriniSocialist · 08/03/2020 11:53

This is the magazine who apparently couldn't find any actual woman in 2015 to give the award of 'Woman of the Year' to, so had to give it to a male who had 'become a woman' a few months before.

So I'm not surprised by this list TBH.

DariaWalker · 08/03/2020 11:53

It is deliberate. It is done to oppress us further. The message to us is: you, women, are insignificant outside of the presence of men. You have no value except in relation to men.

Vogue magazine is a tool of patriarchy.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 08/03/2020 12:12

And where is the support for the women who support men in their careers? Wives and mothers?
Oh no. No recognition at all.

AnyOldSpartabix · 08/03/2020 12:23

Glamour. The name says it all. It’s aimed at men pleasers.

Fandoozle1 · 08/03/2020 12:27

Trying to remember when Glamour last had something relevant to say about women. They dont even know what one is.

definitelygc · 08/03/2020 13:00

And here was Sadiq Khan's tweet for International Women's Day:

"We all have a part to play in the battle for gender equality. Together, as Londoners, we must ensure that ours is a city of opportunity and a place where people of all genders can fulfil their potential."

Spoken like a true men's rights activist

VortexofBloggery · 08/03/2020 13:03

McFeminism. Do yourselves a favour, watch the Simon De Beauvoir interview on another thread. IWD is a nonsense.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 08/03/2020 13:05

Fuckwits

2nd thread today expressing surprise that a magazine aimed at women prints stupid content.

it's aimed at women - the bar is low, insulting as it may be. Simple solution - don't buy these shitty publications.

Defenestratethecat · 08/03/2020 13:12

Kind of agree Andy Murray supports women - he has been excellent at calling out sexism in tennis. Whether he has a place on this list, not sure. Numbers 2 and 3? Nope. They appear to be getting their glamorous bottoms handed to them on twitter though, so not all bad.

midgebabe · 08/03/2020 13:17

What about male mental health exactly?

How much should women bend over to because of male mental health? How much free access to women's bodies and spaces is needed to help those poor men? Men's mental health won't be improved by treating them like scared children who must never be denied anything they want.

HorseWithNoLang · 08/03/2020 13:17

Glamour = dead classy = shite.

definitelygc · 08/03/2020 13:23

Has he spoken out about transwomen in women's sports yet? For a long time everytime Martina spoke out about this I @'d him asking him when he was going to support her. I never got a response.

Andy Murray is an outspoken "feminist" when it gets him brownie points and totally absent when it means having to actually put his neck on the line. It's pathetic.

User182756 · 08/03/2020 15:17

One tweet among many replying to Glamour:

Nearly a third of these are men. Do you centre inspirational white people as icons during black history month?

This is ridiculous. Men can be feminists - fine! But International Women's Day should be about celebrating actual women!

isabellerossignol · 08/03/2020 15:27

What does Munroe Bergdorf have that gets Munroe so much airtime, so much column space? I just don't get it. I don't understand why the people in charge are willing to overlook Munroe's aggression, dubious interaction with children on social media, and all round nastiness, and hold Munroe up as a hero. Munroe doesn't even pretend to be benign.
