And out of interest - are they despairing the sex of the baby on the birth very too?

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 19:53

What sex is the baby or has Freddy decided to let it decide for itself?

Lordfrontpaw · 04/03/2020 19:53

Disputing - disputing! This autocorrect is driving me nuts.

BorneoBabe · 04/03/2020 19:54

It's all about Freddie's 'trauma'. What about the trauma of the child when it grows up and wants to know the truth about where it came from?

Utter selfishness.

Clymene · 04/03/2020 19:55

Oh I don't think I read this bit before: 'Mr McConnell was accused of being in "serious breach of his duty of candour to the Court" by failing to disclose the existence of a documentary called Seahorse, which he began filming three years ago.'

That never goes down well does it? I'm sure the court also takes rather a dim view of Freddie asserting he plans to live the rest of his life as a man and then beginning fertility treatment as a female patient a mere 10 days later.

Clymene · 04/03/2020 19:56

Lack of candour seeming to be rather a pattern at this point

KatvonHostileExtremist · 04/03/2020 20:00

I think Freddie got a GRC and then immediately got pregnant, I'm wondering if their motivation was to test this all along.

I feel deep deep pity for this child.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/03/2020 20:03

Who is paying for Freddie's lawyers?

Clymene · 04/03/2020 20:03

That's exactly what Freddie did Kat. And I suspect you're right

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 20:04

Is there a mechanism whereby the GRC can be declared void by the conditions not being met? What an absolute farce.
Ten days, and then a women who has been legally declared a man starts fertility treatment with the intention of getting pregnant...
The child should be declared a ward of court until Freddy sorts their head out, the poor kid sounds like they were used like a bloody pawn to further the cause, rather than a much wanted baby.
Hideous.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 20:04

Oh x post.

YessicaHaircut · 04/03/2020 20:04

Interestingly, at the end of the Seahorse documentary, immediately after F had given birth, the midwife asked “Shall we see what you’ve got?” And both F and the midwife looked at the new baby and were able to agree straight away that it was a boy, based solely on looking at the baby’s outward appearance. I wonder how they managed that?

Thingybob · 04/03/2020 20:05

Parent 1 and Parent 2

At the Trans Pregnancy Conference earlier this year, it was suggested that NO ONE'S birth certificate should show 'mother' or 'father' but everyone should just have 'parent(s)'.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 04/03/2020 20:06

I don’t understand why their is such a desperate need to prove a falsehood with a bit of paper, in an era when you can send saliva to a website and find relatives you didn’t even know existed.

If Freddy’s son joins 23andme.com, Freddy’s family will be clearly linked to Freddy’s single X chromosome. They won’t be reassigned to the Y side out of wokeness.

Thisismytimetoshine · 04/03/2020 20:06

They can get to fuck with that one.

Beansandcoffee · 04/03/2020 20:07

We are not allowed to use the word woman as it offends. And now Freddie would like us mothers to be known as parent 1 or parent 2. Bloody hell. Being 55 I’m starting to feel invisible without this rubbish.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 04/03/2020 20:08

Is there a mechanism whereby the GRC can be declared void by the conditions not being met? What an absolute farce.

We were discussing this yesterday on the ‘court’ thread. It appears no mechanism for revoking a or voiding a GRC exists. Which is great for fraudsters, but shit for detransitioners.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/03/2020 20:12

So we have some people born with male bodies desperate to breastfeeding and waiting for uterus transplants so they can do the ‘ultimate girl’ and give birth to / breast feed a baby.

So what it it then, giving birth? The ultimate female thing or a possible male thing? Can’t be both surely.

Butterymuffin · 04/03/2020 20:12

As I understand it, Freddy's son is being bought up by Freddy's mother and father, with Freddy living elsewhere

I feel sorry for the child anyway, but this if true is particularly sad.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 04/03/2020 20:20

Freddy’s mum and step dad came across well in the documentary (if excessively indulgent of Freddy). There are worse things than being bought up by a loving, attention Granma and Granpa, that’s for sure.

April 2019 The Guardian
"Watch the trailer for Seahorse, a new feature-length documentary produced in association with the Guardian, about one trans man’s pioneering quest to start his own family. This is the story of the dad who gave birth.

Freddy is 30 and yearns to start a family but for him this ordinary desire comes with unique challenges. He is a gay transgender man. Deciding to carry his own baby took years of soul searching, but nothing could prepare him for the reality of pregnancy, as both a physical experience and one that challenges society's fundamental understanding of gender, parenthood and family.

Made with unprecedented access and collaboration over three years, the film follows Freddy from preparing to conceive right through to birth. The film, directed by Jeanie Finlay, is in UK cinemas from August 30th.

Seahorse: The Dad Who Gave Birth is presented by BBC Two and produced by Andrea Cornwell, Jeanie Finlay and Oscar-winning Grain Media."

The film was 'conceived' before Freddy's baby?

MasakaBuzz · 04/03/2020 20:36

This shouldn’t be about Freddy and Freddy’s perceived rights. It should be about the right of the child to have an accurate birth certificate. Recording Freddy as the Father would be a lie. Freddy is the child’s mother.
