Hayden versus Associated Newspapers.

The Judge? Go on guess. Mr Justice Julian Knowles.

Remember him? I couldn’t be happier.

This is according to contacts at the NZ fruit farm

Sawdust unsure whether you mean the amendment should be law,

I'm saying it already is the law.

and doesn't go far enough in your opinion, or whether you think MPs are stupid for caring about women murdered by violent men

...Given that it's MPs job to decide on statute, it's worrying that they are proposing amendments to a bill that isn't required - don't they have civil service legal advisers to help them ?

And consent demonstrably is being used as a defence. Multiple cases. It's working too

No, the defence is a lack of intention to kill. Showing that what they were involved in was consensual is evidence of a lack of intention, I suppose.

And yes, safeguarding does come down to consent very often, specifically the consent of female people to say no to males. Even when the males don't like it. Surely you'd have to be a male supremacist/incel to think there's anything wrong with that?

Sure.

Right, got to go - meeting DW in the pub, just got a text from her.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 17:58

Back AGAIN?

Tara Chuck!

TinselAngel · 05/03/2020 18:48

May I take this opportunity to reassure you, Wrath, that I am not the fragrant Reverend in disguise.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 18:54

Rachel Mann’s website is the ugliest site I have seen since Geocities fell out of style.

Found this quote on a site less headache inducing:

In court tomorrow
Thelnebriati · 05/03/2020 18:55

Just to be on the safe side I have written a list of ways I don't consent to be killed, even if the (alleged) murderer didn't really mean it. Strangulation is pretty near the top.

TinselAngel · 05/03/2020 18:57

Breasts don't itch when you're adolescent that I can recall. What an odd comment.

TedsFederationRep · 05/03/2020 19:01

In defence of Lancastrians, I'd just like to point out that the locals always told me to avoid the one way system on sunny evenings like the plague.

They never explained why.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 19:03

Is that code, Ted?

WrathofFaeKlopp · 05/03/2020 19:08

Glad to hear it Tinsel, although it is quite obvious you are not the fragrant Reverend Mann.

I've been derailing all over the shop today
For the record.
I don't consent to being killed either, it's not a fine line.

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/03/2020 19:09

Oh Bugger, the manly man mansplaining has had to go to the pub having had a very manly text from DW. (Did you notice he had a DW? Look at the DW.)

What ever shall we do with no one telling us what to think?

WrathofFaeKlopp · 05/03/2020 19:11

Thanks DULANG, that's the quote.

TedsFederationRep · 05/03/2020 19:21

Not at all, DuLang. Just that being a university town - student pranks and rag weeks and the like - speshul people wouldn't have stood out. If that's what they were hoping to do.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 19:32

I was completely bewildered having not realised Mann was a Lancaster resident! Grin

Right, off the the pub now, having got a text from DW.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 05/03/2020 19:32

Or maybe I’m floating a boat

Or

Icing a cake?

TinselAngel · 05/03/2020 19:36

Right, off the the pub now, having got a text from DW.

Laters, bint 😘

theflushedzebra · 05/03/2020 23:06

Oh well, the pub is a better excuse than icing a cake Grin

FragrantLikeRice · 06/03/2020 19:50

I guess there is no news today? Is the good Judge still considering and deliberating or whatever it is that judges do?

LadyMarathonRunner · 07/03/2020 00:12

One does hope that a full trial is given the thumbs up.

MoleSmokes · 07/03/2020 00:54

DuLang said "Anyway, to bring this back on topic, Hayden’s claim against The Mail asserts that a journalist accused Hayden of inventing a transgender identity for fraudulent purposes."

Maybe not the "fraudulent purposes" bit - but this:

  1. Reddit posts by "srh2018" apparently suggesting that "srh2018" = "judicialcat" = Fragrant Lady Lawyer (archived)

archive.ph/BVOBp

  1. Reddit post by "srh2018" about their process of acquiring a GRC (archived)

archive.ph/kTq8e

Quote full post (my bolding):

srh2018 on 9 Aug 2018

"Congratulations! I submitted my application on 9 April 2018, got a hearing on 2 May 2018, and my GRC was dated 9 May 2018. The process in Leicester is so efficient. I work in the legal profession and I have never known any part of HMCTS to be as efficient and professional as the admin people at Leicester GRP!

I arranged my "main" report from Dr Penny Lenihan. Like you my "secondary" report was from my GP, a tick box exercise with a bill for £28! The key to navigating the GRP successfully and quickly is to make sure you have the evidence that they want to see! So documents from the start of your "official" transition, some in between, and a few dated very recently! Passport, driving licence, and academic certificates are evidential "gold". I also padded out my application with a witness statement from myself, as well as a family member who is a close friend. The process is not laborious per se but just a little admin intensive. Get the bureaucracy right and the system can be a 'cake walk' IMO!

Oh yes I had my Charing Cross GIC appointment on 8 June 2018. I had been on hormones privately at that point for years. My medical professional asks, "What evidence have you got to show you've been living in role?"

My reply, "I think you'll find my GRC actually proves that as I need at least 2 years of evidence to get one!" "

Maybe there is nothing to this and I am misunderstanding, but I would have thought that a "witness statement" should be from a third party?

IANAL so maybe someone can clarify?

Separate issue

TinselAngel said "Breasts don't itch when you're adolescent that I can recall."

OMG! Lucky you!! One of the worse aspects for me was the excruciating, incessant itching!

I went through most of that time with my jaw tightly clenched, probably looking and moving like a glassy-eyed robot in an effort to stop myself screaming and howling like a banshee while clawing at my breasts!!

It cannot be that uncommon because my mother noticed me writhing and looking distressed, gave me ice cubes and said to go to my room and run them over my clothing to soothe the itching, which I did and it helped. Smile

MoleSmokes · 08/03/2020 06:07

FragrantLikeRice said I guess there is no news today? Is the good Judge still considering and deliberating or whatever it is that judges do?

Cliffhanger!! Does anyone know what happened?

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 08/03/2020 12:00

This was a good preliminary hearing. Should hear if the judge wants to take it to full hearing within a week

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 09/03/2020 19:13

I'm still waiting for more news on SH lawsuit against the Beeb. I'm guessing it'll come to zilch.

LauraMipsum · 09/03/2020 21:28

Mole there's nothing to that - in all sorts of applications there would be a witness statement from the applicant. You can put what you like in. Obviously if you have a witness statement saying you've been living in x identity for 3 years, but your utility bills / bank statements are only dated in the last three months, the statement won't be given much weight. Where it might be useful would be if you had bank statements for over 2 years in your new name, but utilities only for 18 months, you might have a witness statement to explain why (e.g. you were in a shared house where the rent included bills and then moved, or you knew you were about to move energy provider and thought you'd do the change of provider and your own change of name in one go, for example).
