Al1Langdownthecleghole · 28/02/2020 14:22

From Twitter

The judge has now read the submissions of evidence from all parties- judicial review is GRANTED- so GID service at Tavistock and nhs will be fully examined about whether asking under 18 year olds to give informed consent to hormone blockers is unlawful.

A step in the right direction, I hope. And with it more sunlight.

Well done to Sue Evans and Kiera Bell.

let's hope the judge hasn't drunk the koolaid

Imnobody4 · 28/02/2020 14:24

Brilliant news. So grateful to Sue Evans and Keira Bell.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 28/02/2020 14:26

Yes!!! Well done to all involved.

Languishingfemale · 28/02/2020 14:27

Excellent. Long overdue and shameful that it is down to individuals to crowdfund this rather than society taking responsibility for safeguarding children

Datun · 28/02/2020 14:28

Excellent news. The tide is absolutely turning. This is evidence of it. And the result will be further evidence.

Whatisthisfuckery · 28/02/2020 14:41

So glad this is happening. At the very least it’ll bring everything out into the open. I hope the judge hasn’t been captured.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 28/02/2020 14:41

Great news.

jadefinch · 28/02/2020 14:50

This hasn't been confirmed but looks like there will be an announcement on Sunday

Cwenthryth · 28/02/2020 14:58

I went to say Thankyou to Sue Evans on Twitter (it popped up on my TL too) but she has now deleted the tweet saying she jumped the gun

ClitoriaTernatea · 28/02/2020 15:28

Fab news.

ChattyLion · 28/02/2020 15:49

YES!

BovaryX · 28/02/2020 16:56

This is great news. Keira Bell is a very brave young woman. What she is doing will be regarded as heroic in the future. The doctors responsible for causing her such trauma will be indicted by history.

wellbehavedwomen · 28/02/2020 18:27

Keira Bell is wonderful. If she ever sees this - thank you. Thank you so enormously much. You are sounding the alarm for so many other girls and young women; I appreciate that the emotional cost to you of doing it is very high.

Well said wellbehavedwoman. If anybody who is in touch with Keira sees this, please let her know that she is regarded as a hero by many here. She is doing something which requires great courage and when history judges this era, she will be seen as a warrior for justice.

OhHolyJesus · 28/02/2020 18:51

Thanks for your bravery from me too Keira, courage calls to courage and because of you others will speak up.

I'm virtually high fiving you (and Sue) with one hand, as I reach for a garden implement with the other...

And Mermaids may apply to intervene in the case...

nauticant · 28/02/2020 19:46

Let's welcome Mermaids putting forward their views in a court of law being a forum where logical argument is supposed to count more than appeals to emotion, where their views can be challenged rigorously, and let's welcome the discussion being reported accurately in (some parts of) the media.

ClitoriaTernatea · 28/02/2020 19:49

I agree nauticant, it would be very useful to have Mermaids' evidence tested in court.

Cwenthryth · 28/02/2020 19:52

Mermaids may “apply to intervene in this claim?”

What claim? It’s a review you numpties.

Can random lobby groups ‘apply to intervene’ in judicial process?

Cwenthryth · 28/02/2020 19:56

Although I agree I would welcome Mermaid’s claims & position on medical treatments of children who don’t fit a narrow stereotyped mould being properly tested in court. Mimmymum didn’t come off well last time she was before a judge did she.

ClitoriaTernatea · 28/02/2020 20:02

Cwen interested parties can apply to 'intervene' to 'assist the court' in a judicial review.

FannyCann · 28/02/2020 20:05

When should we start stock piling popcorn?
In fact I think it would be worth booking an annual leave day to attend the day Mermaid's presents its evidence in court. Keep me posted on the date. Wine

Cwenthryth · 28/02/2020 20:10

Ah, interesting Clit! (Love the name)

I’m assuming though that the judge will be inviting evidence they are interested in though, Mermaids May well get an invite as a ‘patient’ lobby/advocate group, they’re not irrelevant to this. Not as relevant perhaps to the many clinicians who have expressed/left the service due to concerns, to actual qualified psychologists etc.... but no they should be heard. I’d go listen for sure.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 28/02/2020 20:31

Keira Bell is a wonderful young woman - and despite the pain and suffering she has gone through she is being so brave and speaking up to save other young girls from similar 'treatment'
