Targeted reporting of LGB social media accounts

These people have no shame.
Maybe we should start reporting accounts that only advocate for other issues? Dogs Trust because they don't help cats? Age concern because they don't care about children?

Teraphobia...fear of mythical creatures.

Another one for the police hate-crimes list. Let’s combat the teraphobes.

Cwenthryth · 19/02/2020 22:42

I’m livid - I’m a Labour Party member now, and a bisexual woman, I support the right of trans members & supporters to organise together to campaign on issues around gender identity that matter to them, I don’t wish to silence them. Their views and campaigns can speak for themselves. It is absolutely disgusting that an LGBT officer is celebrating silencing lesbian, gay & bisexual comrades because they might not agree with every single belief they hold about gender. FFS. This does not make me feel welcome, this does not make me feel that my bisexuality is welcome.

I’ve submitted a formal complaint to the Labour Party. It was quite straightforward on their website. I am mad as all hell on this. A tiny bit worried this might get my card marked (although I did tick the ‘anonymous’ box, they do ask for name & email) but sweet Christmas we cannot stand for this.

Lord Moonie now suspended too.

One of our supporters.

Authoritarianism doesn't back down, even, or maybe especially when it's opponents take a leap forward. If you haven't worked out by now that authoritarian purges by these people are an infinity loop then I don't know what to tell you.

I was angry and frustrated when the Labour party couldn't put together anything worth voting for, because of the genuine suffering the Tory government will bring.

But I'll take freedom to fight against the effects of austerity over emboldened totalitarianism every day of the week. This past week has shown that if Labour got into power right now, some of it's key members would make Stalin look like Mr Tumble.

Melroses · 19/02/2020 23:00

I just came to see if anyone had posted about Lord Moonie.

He brings joy to my twitter feed Sad. One of the highlights.

Mlou32 · 19/02/2020 23:10

I'm not asking to make any kind of point before anyone jumps on me...I'll admit I don't really know much about these issues. But didn't the term used to be LGBT? I've seen it shortened to LGB a few times now. Is it because the transgender movement has now went a completely different way and moved into it's own 'movement'?

FloralBunting · 19/02/2020 23:17

The term used to be LGB. 25 years ago I was part of an LGB society. The T is very new, and just in case you heard to the contrary, they didn't start the movement.

Mlou32 · 19/02/2020 23:18

@FloralBunting ah I see, thank you.

theflushedzebra · 19/02/2020 23:21

No MLou - it used to be variations of "gay rights" "lesbian & gay rights." Gay men, when campaigning for equal age of consent asked lesbians to help, and they joined forces to campaign together. Then I think the B was added.

The T wasn't added till later, and I think that was when the T was "transexual" which make up a tiny proportion of the people now covered under the term "transgender."

People with more knowledge of the history than me may be able to answer more fully though.

FloralBunting · 19/02/2020 23:27

This is from waaay back...

Cwenthryth · 19/02/2020 23:29

I was in LGBsoc at university. It was basically a place to find people that were gay/lesbian/bisexual, meet network and socialise, occasional protests and campaigns but mostly weekly socials and nights out at gay bars and clubs where you could find people you knew were at least open to same-sex shenanigans.
Whilst I was there (very early 2000s), we voted on & added the ‘T’. It was about being nice and inclusive to the 2 trannies - and I will use that term as they referred to themselves that way - who liked to frequent the same clubs we did and were nice blokes (they made no claim to be women), had awesome style and were a blast to hang out with. They were heterosexual though.

Oh how naive we were back then Sad.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 19/02/2020 23:35

Are we allowed to talk about how personality disorders, particularly what used to be known as the Cluster B disorders, relate to all this or is that on the that's unkind so you can't say it list?

Needmoresleep · 19/02/2020 23:36

Stonewall only added the “T” in 2015.

theflushedzebra · 19/02/2020 23:48

MLou, also, having added the T, the T started moving the goalposts by fucking miles. Into places that lesbians, in particular, and women, and then people in general, found extremely, er, difficult.

If you want to find out what this is all about, you can do a lot worse than read this synopsis janeclarejones.com/2018/11/13/the-annals-of-the-terf-wars/

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 20/02/2020 00:24

@Mlou32 yes, it is LGBT but it's not to do with the T distancing from LGBT, it's groups dropping the T and just focusing on LGB.

theflushedzebra · 20/02/2020 01:40

Why have the T just set up "Labour_Trans" then, and done a pledge that only mentions trans?

MrsSnippyPants · 20/02/2020 18:59

Apparently the LGB Conservative account was suspended for 'impersonating' the LGBT Conservative account.

WTF!?

I don't see a reason to continue engaging with you, seeing as you're intent on accusations and fowl language

Fowl Language is a ducking disgrace!

Datun · 20/02/2020 19:09

Twitter is going to have to be taken to court over all this rank misogyny.

Datun · 20/02/2020 19:12

Why have the T just set up "Labour_Trans" then, and done a pledge that only mentions trans?

Gendered intelligence, Gires, Mermaids, action for Trans health - there are a zillion trans only organisations. Where they have separated themselves from the LGB. Probably because the two standpoints conflict utterly. In fact they cancel each other out. It's funny how they can't stand it when the LGB do the same thing, though. Tantruming over something that they themselves are guilty of. 🙄

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 20/02/2020 23:48

I must not
I must not
I must not make the obvious joke about identifies as. Funny how Twitter is suddenly concerned.

boatyardblues · 21/02/2020 00:08

I will miss Lewis Moonie’s majestic swearing on Twitter. Own goal by the TRAs & Twitter though, because he’s probably much more trouble for them let loose in the House of Lords than he is f-bombing in the twitterspere.

boatyardblues · 21/02/2020 00:08

An h missing from Twittersphere abovez

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 21/02/2020 00:41

An h missing from Twittersphere abovez

It’s missing a common sense, wouldn’t worry about a stray ‘h’ personally...
