Positive, powerful performance of mature mums or over sexualisation of women?

People can do what they want, but I find it kind of depressing that nowadays, so many top female performers feel compelled to dress in glorified bathing attire, while male performers get to wear normal outfits like Shirts. And Trousers. Yes, Shakira and JLo and Beyonce and Mariah are all Qweens and they can shake their booties like goddesses and more power to them etc. But until the day that they wear shirts and trousers while Harry Connick Jr. and Eminem and whoever writhe around or pole dance in golden speedos, I'm not going to find this empowering.

Oh, fucking lighten up.
They were incredible.

There’s space to grumble about female roles and expectations and there’s space to celebrate good things too. Ladies, you smashed it.

Billie Eilish, a young female singer wears baggut clothes so people can't comment on what's underneath.
What you said is one of the reasons I found the male rappers off.

I just read that link, and there’s a video interview halfway down where she’s wearing shorts, obviously a very slim young woman who can get away with wearing baggy clothes and it be celebrated because underneath it she’s obviously very slim.

If a larger female artist dressed the same way (baggy clothes don’t hide your size), I can just imagine the mocking.

But yes Durga, I absolutely agree with you.

Nah. Missy Elliott never got any shit when she was bigger.

Their performance was amazing, the voices, the energy, the dancers, but I have to agree, that the pole dancing and the clothing choices were for the male gaze.

But did the owl like it?

Or was it too superb to be bothered?
