This has appeared on Twitter, I'm not sure of the background but suspect it's a response to the Labour Women's Declaration

It will be interesting to see how Labour handles this one.

Sometimes people just need a purge, though.

Well. Those hidden replies certainly are interesting. How illuminating that @Labour_Trans chose to hide them. Including one from D Hayton.

Thank you Moltenlasagne.

Relief is in the replies

I don't get the point in the Twitter functionality that enables accounts to hide replies.... Defeats the purpose of social media.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/02/2020 14:15

You don't understand the real purpose of social media! Manipulation is what it's all about.

NearlyGranny · 11/02/2020 14:22

But has the Labour Party itself endorsed this? I do hope not. If so, we're being abandoned to the mercy of the Tories for... how long?

Lollygaggles · 11/02/2020 14:42

Sorry for being dense. I'm quite new to Twitter, which button shows the hidden replies?

NonnyMouse1337 · 11/02/2020 14:44

You don't understand the real purpose of social media! Manipulation is what it's all about.

Yes, but manipulation is best done surreptitiously, like Facebook and Twitter algorithms pushing up some topics and downplaying others for example.
Viewing a Twitter thread and seeing a message informing that the user has hidden some replies just makes them look silly. Or is the warning message not shown if you are actually signed into Twitter? I don't have an account so I just read whatever is publicly available.

Siameasy · 11/02/2020 14:55

Ha! I am reading Animal Farm at the moment how apt

Lordfrontpaw · 11/02/2020 14:56

I recently listened to a radio adaptation of 1984...

How many fingers?

Now endorsed by Rebecca Long-Bailey, shouldn't be surprised really, they are competing for the 2020 "Woke Awards".

Floisme · 11/02/2020 15:46

I see Sophie Wilson has signed. Is this the same Sophie Wilson who managed to lose Rother Valley - previously Labour for 101 years?

andyoldlabour · 11/02/2020 16:04

Floisme

It is one and the same Sophie Wilson and her pronouns are she/her. Labour are totally clueless.

twitter.com/soph__wilson?lang=en

Floisme · 11/02/2020 16:37

She declared her pronouns and still lost? Shock
Time to cancel Rother Valley surely?

MenopauseIsMySuperPower · 11/02/2020 16:55

I'd highlighted the word 'accept' on the other thread as it was odd, it's come to me now, Isn't a manifesto usually 'We believe' rather than instructions?

WombOfOnesOwn · 11/02/2020 17:57

It's interesting, isn't it, what DOESN'T get this treatment?

Has anyone ever been compelled to say that there are absolutely no material conflicts between immigrant rights and worker rights?

I mean, it's a good leftist position that we shouldn't be xenophobic, and that overall immigration contributes to culture and makes us stronger and better. But no one's told they have to say there's NO conflict there.

No one's told they MUST ACCEPT that there's no material conflict between any other two groups of competing interest. It's only us AFABs who have to accept that their rights come last the moment they come into conflict with another group's rights.

Could you imagine someone saying you had to accept there was no conflict, ever, between gay rights and Muslim rights? No? What if they said that even admitting that these rights could ever come into conflict was homophobic and Islamophobic?

This is absurdity. No one should allow it to stand without pointing out how this is simply not required of any other group.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/02/2020 18:01

So the modern Labour Party is finally saying out loud that it hates women/lesbians? Well well well.

WeetabixBananaHipsterFFS · 11/02/2020 18:16

If so, we're being abandoned to the mercy of the Tories for... how long?

As things stand, I’d say 17 years. I would’ve said 15 when I first got up this morning.

Clymene · 11/02/2020 18:57

Well I've always thought there was deep misogyny at the heart of left politics but this just shouts it out loud.

I suppose it's better in a way than all those creepy guys who were powerful in their local groups using it as a way of assaulting women.

I would also like to say to Angela and friends: Does this include Jess Bradley, who seems unable to keep Jess's cock under wraps? Is Jess a woman? How about Karen White? Or Jessica Winfield? Or Vicky Grattage? Or Nicola Watson? Or Toni Prince? Ella Walker? Zoe Lynes? Katie Dolatowski? Stacy Poole? Jacinta Brookes? Michelle Lewin? Christyl Knight?

All male born people who identify as women who have been convicted of sexual assault against women and children.

Are they women Angela? Really? What makes a man who gets his kicks from wanking outside women's windows a woman? I'd really like to know.

Floisme · 11/02/2020 19:14

I think I have reached the eighth stage of grief - seeing the funny side.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/02/2020 19:32

I thought stage 8 was hysteria, followed by wetting ones pants, then eyed rolling out of their sockets?

Floisme · 11/02/2020 19:38

Ah maybe I'm not quite there then - I'm just giggling so far.

VortexofBloggery · 11/02/2020 19:39

I just love the creativity here.
