Sorry if this has been covered already but I’ve been offline all day - has there been any discussion re PS’s announcement today on this board? Especially in relation to wife and daughters

There’s a middle ground between choosing not to come out publicly and deciding to marry a woman in your 30s when - according to PS’s own recent words - you already know you are gay. For everyone pointing out how difficult it could be to come out in the 1980s: I was a teenager in the 80s and I don’t disagree. But neither do I think that left the only other option for PS being a marriage based on a fairly fundamental lie in 1993. He could have lived a private bachelor life until he judged it was safe to come out - which for a Londoncentric media luvvie would have been a LOT earlier than 2020, let’s face it - or indeed, never come out at all if he preferred it that way. And since it now appears his wife didn’t know from the outset, and there’s a reasonable chance this whole thing is all stage-managed gloss to deflect from some pretty reprehensible behaviour on his part then no. Not brave. Not stunning. Not an LGB icon. Just another cowardly cheating man using women as his human shields. Same as it ever was.

Joan is a legend. I was puzzled why Piers shut her down, when he’s usually so fearless. Has the PS PR machine been threatening to sue? And why the silence from the UK press? Huge handouts and gagging clauses all round, I’ll wager.

I thought it revealing that Perez Hilton, a US celebrity blogger, knew about the allegations surrounding Schofield and it was actually him who was cut off, not Joan Collins, when it looked like he might start revealing what everyone is now saying.

The truth will eventually come out. There are so many images being uploaded to social media from the last few years of things like people in restaurants with Schofield in the background - and who he happens to be dining with each time.

There are several people other than PS who have a vested interest in keeping these stories under wraps.

I'm sure his income and celebrity status allows them to enjoy a lifestyle beyond the dreams of most of us.

As someone wrote elsewhere, these celeb presenters are often married to people in the business, including high-ups like producers, their children often work in the business in various roles including working for the talent agencies that have the celeb presenters on their books, and many of the celeb presenters have the same very powerful talent agency. The vested interests to keep Schofield in place are considerable.

Personally I think he's lost it. There are no cases in Paris. If he was worried, why travel?

He was presenting so clearly is not self isolating. I didn't see it, just read it in the Metro.

It's just more nonsense really but it did make me wonder if he might self-isolate away from the family in some unknown location to create...some distance?

I do worry about Steph.
