Bit I saw that and assumed it was a parody account, but seems not as his tweets all seem too serious!

Wingedserpentfliesbynight · 26/01/2020 11:49

There's a fake tweet doing the rounds where JK 'wrote' a homophobic comment. She didn't I would imagine, despite neglecting to include a single LGBT character in HP. Dumbledore doesn't count, BTW, that was clearly and after thought after criticism.

midcenturylegs · 26/01/2020 11:51

Another who's a bit unsure as to what she is trying to say so not hailing her the queen etc. I did like the article about taxes etc. (She's clearly who does the right thing but I pay my taxes too however?).
It will be interesting to see if she sheds light on it all if she's interviewed on it..

theflushedzebra · 26/01/2020 12:04

Can't wait for the next Galbraith novel.

JK is Queen of the World as far as I'm concerned. I love her. Star

Mayomaynot · 26/01/2020 12:07

Thank you, J.K.!

DeeZastris · 26/01/2020 12:10

I think most TRAs struggle with just how intelligent and well educated JK is. The overwhelming majority of TRAs appear to be pig shit thick with zero ability to think critically. That’s why they think in series of stereotypes as it’s comforting and you don’t have to think too hard.

Melroses · 26/01/2020 12:15

Can't wait for the next Galbraith novel

It is number 5 so I have plenty to catch up on - I had no idea that she was writing non HP books, beyond the book that was adapted for television. I had got out of reading as I got fed up of so many unlikely bolloxy plotlines (apart from Tove Jansson which I have found soothing). So maybe this will get this adult into reading Grin

ForTheTimeBeing · 26/01/2020 12:17

She's great!

I would love to know how many of her fans are just finding out about transgenderism from the replies to her tweets. Massive own-goaling, it seems to be a hobby of theirs.

It's so obvious who sounds like Crabbe and Goyle and who sounds like Hermione, after all.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 26/01/2020 12:24

Responses are such a weird mix of normal "yay you finished it!" stuff that you'd expect to see on an author's account and toys thrown out of pram angry flailing. My favorite was the one who demanded a one on one discussion about trans issues with her. Yes, dear, I'm sure she'll get right on that.

Freezingold · 26/01/2020 12:32

I would also like to point out that she's on the front page of the Times today because she has paid £50million in UK tax this year. She refuses to use any loop holes or off shore accounts to reduce her tax bill. The woman is amazing.

Wow. I didn’t know this. And I tend to keep out of the trans etc debates as I find it all a bit aggressive, and a lot of bullying to keep people quiet. However JK seems to be a voice of calm and fairness. So glad people like her exist.

TheNavigator · 26/01/2020 12:46

JK Rowling has made massive donations to enable the establishment of the Anne Rowling clinic in Ediburgh, to research neuro degenerative disease. I admire her greatly as a self made woman who funds such important and essential research. She didn't inherit her wealth, she made it herself and has donated huge sums to support important research in what has been an under resourced field.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2020 12:47

She could be referring to transexualism - quite rightly JK has stated that while people can live as whatever gender they prefer, and that's not a problem, sex is a given and cannot be changed.

She's had some crap thrown at her for making that simple, honest statement.

Jaxhog · 26/01/2020 12:58

despite neglecting to include a single LGBT character in HP.

I don't think she generally specified the ethnicity of her characters. Unless you are inferring 'whiteness' from their names? The films don't count. They are just what Hollywood wanted them to be. Blame them.

Ikeasucks · 26/01/2020 13:05

This is a feminist group run by transwomen - i know who i support on this

JK - she’s done it now
MorganKitten · 26/01/2020 13:10

In here books she preaches love and excepting everyone, used the lgbtq community for sales... Dumbledore being gay. The she turned on the community.
As someone who grew up with her books I can enjoy them but grown up and now her true views are showing... nope.

AnotherLass · 26/01/2020 13:10

The comments underneath her tweet announcing the new book are mindbogglingly insane

I know that it has been commented on once or twice on these boards before, but trans activism is absolutely freaking NUTS. All of this, in response to a tweet saying that Maya shouldn't be sacked?

I still just can't believe that something this mad can really be happening

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2020 13:16

^ despite neglecting to include a single LGBT character in HP.^^

I don't think she generally specified the ethnicity of her characters^

What's ethnicity got to do with 'LGBT'?Confused the non white ethnicity of a few characters could be deduced from their names. And kids at the time she was writing didn't, IME, label people either way. I'd absolutely no idea DDs Polish classmate or German exchange partner were black until they were on my doorstep. Sexuality - MYOB.

theflushedzebra · 26/01/2020 13:17

The she turned on the community.

No she hasn't.

  1. she doesn't think women should sacked for tweeting about women's rights, or for their political beliefs.

  2. she is anti-totalitarianism - which is a theme that runs right through the Harry Potter books.

thebluearsefly · 26/01/2020 13:19

@BitOfFun that’s a parody account - difficult to tell in the current climate though

Lojoh · 26/01/2020 13:22

She's brill!

theflushedzebra · 26/01/2020 13:23

And if you can't see the totalitarianism underpinning some aspects of the trans rights movement - such as, women losing their jobs over their beliefs that biological sex exists, and people being too afraid to speak out lest they get a visit from the police - then you are woke, but not awake, imo.

CallofDoodee · 26/01/2020 13:23

In here books she preaches love and excepting everyone, used the lgbtq community for sales... Dumbledore being gay. The she turned on the community.

How has she 'turned on the community'? By stating that biological sex is real?

😂
