I've just seen an interview on twitter with Laura kuenssberg with RBL where she is pushed on self ID and the clip ends with her saying self ID should be the law.

Here it is

Sigh. What a silly billy.

NewYearsHumberElla · 22/01/2020 17:34

But Mrs Long-Bailey - whose campaign is backed by grassroots organisation Momentum - refused to blame the party's manifesto, saying she was "proud" of the policies in it

Yep, no need to rethink the massive tanking of the party, just keep on truckin’

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 17:34

Just seen this reported by The Independent.

Did she not see Jo Swinson's car crash interview on the subject? The reactions John McDonnell and Jess Phillips got on their respective MN webchats?

Oh dear.

BackOnceAgainWithATinselHalo · 22/01/2020 17:35

Well she’s a pick and mix bag of inconsistencies!

Mockers2020Vision · 22/01/2020 17:40

Is this before or after Sir Kiera Knightly Starmer self-IDs to stop RLB's constant not-so-coded attacks on his nadgers not being fit to be Labour leader.

(Funny how this wasn't a problem in 2010 say Yvette Cooper, Liz Kendal and Mary Creagh.)

nauticant · 22/01/2020 17:40

The best thing about RLB is when there's yet another article in the press pointing out yet more pork pies she's told about her past that had been told to demonstrate her solid Labour credentials.

GenderfreeJoe · 22/01/2020 17:41

Why am I not surprised...

birdsdestiny · 22/01/2020 17:43

Bless her. She's just not very good. That's all really.

BovaryX · 22/01/2020 17:44

GrinGrin

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/01/2020 17:47

That's it. He's Sir Kiera Knightly in my head now forever.....

Yeah, they're sticking by their policies. That's fine. Nothing wrong with minority parties and everyone being heard: they just do need to accept there's a difference between representing those policies regardless of outcome and wanting to be in power. The second option necessitates listening.

Mockers2020Vision · 22/01/2020 17:51

She's Sir Kiera Knightly.

How dare you misgender a Knight of the Realm.

(And it was 2015 when none of this mattered)

LangTimeNoWeetabix · 22/01/2020 17:51

Another one jumps into the rabbit hole of obscurity Hmm

FairyBatman · 22/01/2020 17:52

Met RBL a few times. The nicest thing I can say about her is that she doesn’t strike me as very clever!

Floisme · 22/01/2020 17:54

She's Momentum's candidate - she was never going to say anything else.

But quite honestly I don't really care very much what any of the Labour candidates say or think about it. They're out of power for the next 5 years and probably 10. I'm far more interested in who the government are talking to.

NowtSalamander · 22/01/2020 17:55

She seems very sweet and it’s always sad when someone says “I understand the issues” and you think, oh bless. I feel about her the way I feel about a particular year 10 pupil I dealt with today who also thought she understood the issues.

BovaryX · 22/01/2020 18:00

I'm far more interested in who the government are talking to.

This is precisely what worries me.

OhHolyJesus · 22/01/2020 18:03

Quite right Nowt and Bovary

We need to lobby the government we've got as they are the ones we got for a good few years.

BovaryX · 22/01/2020 18:03

How dare you misgender a Knight of the Realm

I agree with Michelle I will think of they like this evermore....

NotMyFIrstTIme · 22/01/2020 18:08

Either she's dense and doesn't understand the issues AT ALL (when has ignorance ever stopped politicians spouting their version of facts waves to Jess P) or she DOES understand them and has still decided to throw women under the bus.

Either way, I can't see Labour ever getting my vote again. And as I don't trust the Greens or the LibDems on women's issues, and wouldn't vote Tory if there was a gun against my head, I shall pour myself a whiskey and try to resign myself to being disenfranchised.

OverByYer · 22/01/2020 18:10

How disappointing

GeordieTerf · 22/01/2020 18:11

Not surprising in the slightest.

I’m hopeful for Keir. He’s an old friend of Helen Steel’s... hopefully, they’re still in touch and she has a word with him Smile

teawamutu · 22/01/2020 18:12

No surprise there. She doesn't strike me as a deep thinker, more of a script sticker-toer.

Uncompromisingwoman · 22/01/2020 18:35

None of the Labour candidates will ever express any GC views. Can you imagine the pile on they'd get from the anti -safeguarding / anti - women brigade? They have learnt nothing from their defeat - the true definition of a waste of space.

EsmeShelby · 22/01/2020 19:32

Oh well no vote for Rebecca then.
