I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

I think, tomorrow morning, that we should all post pictures of our solidarity bowls of WBH.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 22/01/2020 00:10

No a mod didn't ask a poster which thread plays into monitors hands at all Confused Oncewasblue had highlighted bit of someone else's post the moderators didn't write it.
I'm shocked to hear Lang has gone, but from what I've seen and been on the receiving end of I'll be honest I'm not that surprised.
Sorry if that upsets some.

NotBadConsidering · 22/01/2020 00:11

It’s obvious to everyone there are TRAs who monitor and report, report, report. So much so that I regular see people add qualifiers to their posts like...

“Oh and by the way mods, I mean this, just for clarity, I’m not implying this, this or this, please don’t delete me”

knowing that there’s a risk their words could be twisted into a valid report. Lang frequently pointed this out and it was ignored by MNHQ on the threads about moderation. Personally I feel like the mods are being left high and dry: MNHQ want these extra rules in place, the TRAs will jump on any opportunity to twist a poster’s words to make them fall foul of these rules, and the mods have to keep everyone happy.

Worth bearing in mind that someone reported my post on surgery and it came down to one word that was deemed inflammatory. That’s how dedicated Monitors are to finding fault. Lang knew this, pointed it out and now it’s bitterly ironic she’s been banned as a result of this tactic.

Tell you what, Ereshkigal, you post a pic and I'll pretend it's mine?

Still curious how the words man + abusive in a post can attract a near instant deletion, but hours after this thread was started, Mumsnet can't be bothered to clarify whether Langs deletion was in concert with Mumsnet mods or not.

Not even a nod to 'looking into it'.

You've been on the receiving end of nothing other than words from a woman way smarter and genuinely warm and supportive towards women than you.

janeskettle · 22/01/2020 00:15

OhCisOff · 22/01/2020 00:16

Just adding my voice in support of Lang. I mainly lurk and have been a user of MN for 14 years or so now and it's because of the brilliant women here that I made big changes to life back then and I like them but more importantly, I've learnt not to repeat the sexist shit my Dad instilled in me as a child and I hope she won't have the feeling of powerlessness and worthlessness I carried about with me into adulthood.

Im going to start posting more. I'm not as smart or as articulate as many of the women here but if an increase in women standing up for ourselves helps, then I'm going to try.

GirlDownUnder · 22/01/2020 00:16

You first 🥴🤢

I'll go as far as mushed banana on toast for Lang, but that's my line in warm banana breakfasts.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/01/2020 00:16

Can I gently suggest that in order to avoid this thread getting derailed the best way to respond to goading is probably to ignore it.

I know it's tempting but honestly, rewarding the behavior with attention just encourages it.

It's a relay and, bluntly, there are far more of us than there are of them. Ban one, another 3 take her place. Can't fight reality forever.

janeskettle · 22/01/2020 00:19

I always need this reminder, thank you.

StrangeLookingParasite · 22/01/2020 00:21

Imagine listening to Prior about, well, anything. How embarrassing.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 22/01/2020 00:23

Woman way smarter than me?
Well that's me told. Hmm
Rest my case, you can't say any comment against group think on here without a dig.
More warm and supportive is subject to opinion too.

Ereshkigal · 22/01/2020 00:24

It's never wasted! You're not the only one, none of us are perfect.

janeskettle · 22/01/2020 00:27

My mushy weetbix was yummy, but it was cold and covered in brown sugar.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/01/2020 00:34

I'll stand in solidarity with LangCleg but unfortunately I'm not a breakfast eater.

Hope MNHQs lack of response is because behind the scenes they're trying to work out WTF happened here.

OccasionalKite · 22/01/2020 00:53

Mumsnet is happy for genuine knowledge and concern for child protection, as demonstrated by LangCleg, with references to relevant government links, to be eliminated, because there are certain factions, pressurising Mumsnet, who believe that women and children do not deserve safeguarding against male violence.... And Mumsnet are obeying the forces that object to child safeguarding processes and protocols .

If Josh is not telling fibs they're also happy to hand over one of their longtime users as a sacrifice in order to get an obsessive bully to leave them alone. Which is a promise that person won't keep, and anyone who thinks they will is a fool.

DanaPhoenix · 22/01/2020 00:56

Try my usual breakfast smoothie. Banana, crushed weetbix (or oats) milk of choice, tbsp protein powder, couple of shots of espresso, ice cubes. Blend. Breakfast of champions.
N.B. The number of espresso shots varies according to a complicated formula that calculates length and quality of sleep, times amount of activity required that day, divided by any resulting hangover from previous nights shenanigans.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/01/2020 00:57

Or Joss, rather. Not "deadnaming", I have no idea what Joss's previous name was (and no interest in knowing either).

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/01/2020 00:57

Can I have just the espresso and a non smushed banana instead?

powershowerforanhour · 22/01/2020 00:58

Bring back Lang! One of the best posters on FWR. Or Feminista Chinwag, or whatever it's called now.

Umyeahnah · 22/01/2020 01:05

I spend hours on this board most days. From my wee corner of the world Mumsnet Feminist Chat is an oasis of sanity and freedom of speech rarely found now days.
But even this is under attack.

I was bought up wetting weetbix with boiled water, then adding milk then sugar, and for posh days also adding sliced bananas.

I am Sparticus
