Usborne books are massively overpriced but another reason to avoid.

TiredofthisBS · 11/01/2020 08:51

Good. Well they won't be wanting any more of my hard earned money then will they.

TiredofthisBS · 11/01/2020 08:52

And yes hugely overpriced and not a brilliant selection. So there's that.

Charity shops are a great source of children's books.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 11/01/2020 08:54

At least they’ve made their feelings public, so sensible women, that recognise reality, can avoid them. We should thank them for letting us know.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 11/01/2020 08:55

Has there been a campaign against the book? I hadn't even heard of it.

MeanMrMustardSeed · 11/01/2020 08:56

Thanks for the heads up. I love noisy crow books at the moment.

littlecabbage · 11/01/2020 08:56

The author, Sarah Hagger-Holt, works for Stonewall. Tells me all I need to know.

BadgertheBodger · 11/01/2020 08:57

I’d love to see the receipts for the “transphobic trolls”. I loathe that these sorts of books are there to further cement the idea that girls should have no boundaries whatsoever.

LizzieSiddal · 11/01/2020 08:57

Do they to be informed that Terf was deemed a misogynistic slur by a judge?

BadgertheBodger · 11/01/2020 08:59

Stand up for what’s right as well Izzy, Make sure you call out that transphobic behaviour when you see it! It’s definitely your job, as the child in the situation, to manage everyone else so your dad doesn’t get his feelz hurt.

Wonder what Izzy’s mum thinks about it all.

GoldenKelpie · 11/01/2020 08:59

Oh dear, alienating your target audience isn't clever, is it? /still, it's all good as it means more reasons to avoid this 'woke' MLM.

LizzieSiddal · 11/01/2020 08:59

Sorry, misread the post, they haven’t used that term. I need coffee.

fuckitywhy · 11/01/2020 09:00

Sigh.

Abite · 11/01/2020 09:01

I wont be buying any books from them again.

HandsOffMyRights · 11/01/2020 09:02

How stupidly short sighted of them.

Who buys your books Usbourne? Change that to bought.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/01/2020 09:05

Sadly (in most cases) book publishing is on the skids - and it’s a bit ‘Guardian reader’ (I know a few people who have worked there). Most kids have books bought for them and the buyers will spend carefully and consider the business they give their money to.

DickKerrLadies · 11/01/2020 09:07

Literally never heard of anything to do with this book until now.

Just a shitty marketing campaign isn't it?

Funnily enough, I've never heard of or met an Usbourne seller that wasn't a mum selling to other mums to try and make a tiny, pitiful bit of money whilst not working.

If Izzys mum was transitioning would you be so cross? Just asking for clarity.

Lordfrontpaw · 11/01/2020 09:14

NotBadConsidering - I know someone who worked on those books (they do have a bit of a life around here ‘that’s not my beer/fart’ etc). I may need to copy that...
