Jolyon Maugham lets slip

In an attempt to show both sides of the GC / self-ID can be vile he takes offence at "Why is it so important to you that men are able to access our facilities? Is it personal?". Why? Because he says such a suggestion is equivalent to calling him a "pervert". So there you have it, agreement that men who want to be in female toilets tend to have a dubious sexual motivation.

Jolyon Maugham lets slip
Lumene · 09/03/2020 08:17

Jolyon M should not be on twitter for his own sanity.

AbsintheFriends · 09/03/2020 08:30

Caroline Flack: relentlessly scrutinised and savaged by mainstream and social media over a period of many years for her appearance, her relationships, her demeanour, her career choices and her personal life (in other words, for not doing 'woman' in a universally pleasing way: for being an adult human female in the public eye)

Jolyon Maugham: criticised on twitter for a couple of days in the week between christmas and new year for boasting about clubbing a wild animal to death with a baseball bat.

Not so very similar, you arrogant, entitled misogynist.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2020 08:32

Words fail me.

BovaryX · 09/03/2020 08:33

It's a damn shame this animal killer isn't being prosecuted

RoyalCorgi · 09/03/2020 09:00

People like Jolyon Maugham love being the victim. It's like the time Toby Young got his Office for Students job offer rescinded when it turned out he'd written some pretty nasty tweets over the years. But it was poor Toby who was the victim.

BadgertheBodger · 09/03/2020 09:04

Oh boohoo Poor Jolyon, cry me a fucking river. Honestly. Does he have no clue about the real world? In the real world, which is demonstrably not Twitter, people don’t go around murdering foxes with baseball bats while wearing their wife’s kimono although I see he’s claiming it was a batik cotton dressing gown wtf What an insufferable dickhead this man is.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/03/2020 09:40

In the real world, people may occasionally have to dispatch a wild animal in unexpected circumstances.
Sensible people sit down, have a calming cuppa and feel bad about it. They don't
Tweet about it in flippant tones. If JM didn't realise that's how the initial tweet and then the kimono part came across, then he's got somewhat poor judgement - as a lawyer, words and how they're interpreted are surely part of his trade?

Here's yesterdays times piece alluded to upthread

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/lawyer-who-killed-fox-humanely-was-savaged-by-rspca-trolls-r5ck3v7rj?shareToken=ef4398f9e64a2d14146cf72055d2a377

EwwSprouts · 09/03/2020 10:03

Who advised him to start talking about this again? He's not reflected on the fact we are generally a nation of animal lovers. And claiming he's a victim is laughable.

OP posts:
nauticant · 09/03/2020 10:22

He advised himself. In doing so he's embracing the old adage "a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client".

JessicaLangoustine · 09/03/2020 10:52

I heard the interview. It was straight from the trans lobby playbook of threatening suicide at any hint of criticism. Seriously, he must have had all sorts of shit thrown at him over Brexit, but this is what made him feel suicidal. I think not. I think he realised he screwed his own left liberal credentials in one reckless tweet. To have the magnificent Chris Packham have a go at him must have stung. Funny, he decided it was ok for CP to criticise him because CP is "pure" (i.e., a vegan). The rest of us, who eat dairy and meat, must not have an opinion when someone else beats a defenceless animal to death, because that would be hypocrisy. Because of course, these two things are one and the same. What a fucking dick. And the R4 interviewer was a simpering idiot.

Needmoresleep · 11/05/2020 12:20

Jolyon is back, though on the hunt for PPE masks for NHS staff.

mol.im/a/8306063

Dominic Lawson does not seem to like him much.

RoyalCorgi · 11/05/2020 12:46

Jolyon aside, that is a very interesting article. Some good work from the HSJ.

No need to read beyond the headline. Ouch!

MoleSmokes · 12/05/2020 09:25

Ha ha ha!!

"DOMINIC LAWSON: The return of the fox-killing barrister and a vainglorious bid to exploit the PPE crisis"

"Attention-seekers sometimes pay a price for their vanity. One such is the lawyer Jolyon Maugham, who on December 26 last year tweeted: 'Already this morning I have killed a fox with a baseball bat. How's your Boxing Day going?'

The publicity-hungry QC later pointed out he was acting to protect the chickens he kept. But this hardly assuaged the fury of his erstwhile fan club." . . .

. . . "But yesterday he popped back up, proclaiming that the Good Law Project was launching new crowd-funded litigation against the Government, this time suing it for 'failure to procure and provide adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) for NHS and other care workers' —on the grounds that 'those failures have contributed to the death and serious illness of healthcare and other care workers'.

The Good Law Project is joined in this claim by the Doctors' Association UK, founded in 2018 by Samantha Batt-Rawden, a registrar in intensive care medicine who was instrumental in organising regional industrial action during the junior doctors' hospital contract dispute."

A certain GP was for a short while (until he disgraced himself bullying women on Twitter?) the "Media Rep" for the Doctors Association and therefore responsible for this self-aggrandising tweet?

This is interesting in terms of Jolyon's motivations twitter.com/BigBillMoon/status/1426253515350069249?s=19

Ha, yes I saw that yesterday. Two points were made repeatedly:

It certainly adds another layer of meaning to his rabid support for young people's unfettered access to cross gender medicalisation and surgery.

How many women's DMs has he slid into without having any second thoughts? Does he often resist this 'temptation'?

Abhannmor · 14/08/2021 11:00

Sorry for being a bit thick ...but who is the photo of and why does it matter?

Pepvixen · 14/08/2021 11:04

It is of Shon Faye, a TRA born male famous for saying "enjoy ur erasure" to women on Twitter. Jolyon is married to a born woman, but nonetheless flirting with Shon.

BraveBananaBadge · 14/08/2021 11:18

From whoever, to whoever that's a creepy thing to say on Twitter. Doesn't even try to make it sound like a lighthearted compliment between mates, that's just a full on perv. Whoever he'd say that to, it's not a good look for the fox killer...

OneEpisode · 14/08/2021 11:19

Hi Abhannmor Shon’s Twitter has lots of pics of Shon. The significance isn’t the pic, it’s the comment from fox killer at the very bottom, hard to see on some devices?

Abhannmor · 14/08/2021 12:14

Thanks everyone! I did eventually get to see the name and creepy message. Yes.....very illuminating and revealing tweet

LizzieSiddal · 14/08/2021 12:27

Horribly creepy Tweet from JM and yes, who else has he sent that sort of message to?

Does explain the Kimono and the love of anything which comes from a TRA.

teawamutu · 14/08/2021 13:23

Is he really this foolish? To do this so publicly?
