Jolyon Maugham lets slip

In an attempt to show both sides of the GC / self-ID can be vile he takes offence at "Why is it so important to you that men are able to access our facilities? Is it personal?". Why? Because he says such a suggestion is equivalent to calling him a "pervert". So there you have it, agreement that men who want to be in female toilets tend to have a dubious sexual motivation.

One must be grateful for small mercies. Hopefully he is on holiday in some far flung place where twitter is unknown: however, the thought that he is parading around at home in a blooded kimono enjoying his notoriety is probably nearer the truth.

FannyCann · 30/12/2019 19:21

Hopefully circling the wagons, preparing a defence against prosecution by the RSPCA, averting divorce from the kimono owner by spending a fortune on replacement kimonos whilst finally installing decent fox proof fencing. With any luck that may have involved accidentally hammering his thumb a few times too.

IrenetheQuaint · 31/12/2019 14:20

I suspect his long-suffering wife has locked his smartphone in the cupboard. I hope she's ordered a new kimono for herself too.

theflushedzebra · 31/12/2019 14:32

If my DH had done what Jolyon did, and posted about it on Twitter, I'd be packing his bags for him.

Or at the very least, "mention my kimono on Twitter one more time, and you're out, buster."

LangCleg · 31/12/2019 14:34

It's not the first time he's made her life difficult, apparently:

CircleofWillis · 31/12/2019 15:04

First time I've seen a picture of Claire She looks really sensible. I wonder if she is GC?

hipsterfun · 31/12/2019 15:36

She knows that a kimono on an angry man does not a woman make, so that’s a start.

BreakWindandFire · 31/12/2019 15:38

Being a local councillor is a ruddy hard job - it's not uncommon for people to serve one term or less. It's also difficult to find competent and willing candidates.

It's appalling (if true) that the Labour party put Claire under pressure due to her husband's actions. She's not his keeper, and she's also not his little wifey who might be influenced by him.

But it's also inappropriate that Jo wrote a pompous ("I have practised as a barrister for 15 years") and scathing letter to the local paper about a Southwark Council court case, when his wife was on the housing scrutiny committee examining the outcome of that case. He really put the boot into named Council officials she had to work with and oversee.
Could he really not have foreseen that this could make her job difficult, if not untenable?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 31/12/2019 15:42

He seems to be remarkably poor at evaluating the potential consequences of his actions (or he just doesn't give a shot).

SingingLily · 31/12/2019 15:48

I'm not convinced that Jolyon thinks or cares much beyond what Jolyon wants.

Everyone else seems to be just a moving breathing prop in the Amazing Story of His Life.

SirVixofVixHall · 31/12/2019 16:11

Claire looks very small and slightly built, it must be an extremely roomy kimono !

Melroses · 31/12/2019 16:18

Oh dear. Awkward.

CircleofWillis · 31/12/2019 16:47

Or a tiny wrap barely covering a large man. Which is probably the point we are all supposed to be picturing the silk swishing over his hairy manly thighs almost revealing his most secret treasures as he battles with the raw embodiment of nature red in tooth and claw to protect his family - in a garden in south London...
(Too Mills and Boon?)

CircleofWillis · 31/12/2019 16:48

Haha just realised how well my mini story fits in with the thread title.

Day 8 of the #FoxKiller saga, and Jolyon still has yet to tweet.....

Sexequality · 03/01/2020 15:14

Jolyon still has yet to tweet

He would be wise not to if there is a chance RSPCA might prosecute.

PegasusReturns · 03/01/2020 15:15

His silence is most unusual.

theflushedzebra · 03/01/2020 15:17

It's day 9 actually, I should include boxing day.

I hope they do prosecute tbh, but he's a qc - I'd expect him to to wriggle out of it on a technicality.

Dangerfloof · 03/01/2020 15:20

Ah damn was hoping for an update but with news. How bloody dare he keep quiet.

theflushedzebra · 03/01/2020 15:23

Ha - sorry, no news. I was just reminded of him because I saw this on Julie Bindel's twitter feed.

His silence is most unusual.

Hopefully the foxes have breached kimono gate, have him tied to a chair, and are enjoying the Christmas leftovers while they ‘re-educate’ him on what a baseball bat is for.

Chris Packham seems to be getting some unpleasant fallout from his condemnation of Jolyon's actions. From his facebook page:
"It appears that if you oppose the cruelty and illegality of fox hunting and those who club them to death you don’t just get social media abuse . The body of a fox has been dumped at my house ... The police have been informed"
I couldn't finish watching his video I found it really distressing and I am not usually squeamish.
