You can order direct from Transgender Trend and can give them a small donation

I paid for the book and postage, then topped it up to a tenner. I have the "terrorist propaganda" sitting on my desk. It is lovely and makes me smile. I wish all terrorist propaganda was like this - the world would be a much safer place.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 16/12/2019 09:46

Those of you who have read it could leave reviews on Amazon Smile maybe that would encourage them to get stock/ be useful to people looking it up.

Rachel is principled, passionate & a brilliant writer - my kids love her poetry. They’re maybe a bit old for the book but maybe I could donate a copy to our library...

LangCleg · 16/12/2019 09:47

Your perfect the way you are- hate speak 2019.

What an awful - because it's true - observation.

GetbusywiththeFizzee · 16/12/2019 09:49

You can ask your local libraries and schools to stock it - complete a form online, ISBN number 978-1-5272-5154-0

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/12/2019 09:53

I just came in to post about it! And yes to it being unavailable on Amazon Hmm - I rushed to buy it for DD after I read the article.

CatInTheDaytime · 16/12/2019 09:53

I think Rachel Rooney didn't realise how bad the backlash would be but she is handling it well. Clara Vulliamy is old-school and probably thinks she is down with the kids and oh-so-modern by having swallowed the trans ideology hook line and sinker.

Transgender Trend and Rachel Rooney have done everyone a huge service with this book, not only as a great resource, but also because it really highlights how paranoid and deluded the trans lobby is - when merely the message to accept and be proud of your own body is seen as worthy of vicious attack. Including from men who decide they are a woman but seem happy enough with their own body to want to keep their dick. Hmm

TheChampagneGalop · 16/12/2019 10:15

I hope this reversal and hyperbole of calling a body-positive book for children "terrorism" will open even more people's eyes.

Terfnserf · 16/12/2019 10:25

I have no children to buy for so ordering a couple of copies for my local library and charity book shop

WomanBornNotWorn · 16/12/2019 10:34

Lovely tweet saying someone had paid for ten copies so people in need could have a free copy for Christmas @Transgendertrd

Pinkarsedfly · 16/12/2019 10:41

Oh god, did ‘Annie Rose’ grow up to be a Kool-Aid-guzzling woke twat?

Bugger.

stillathing · 16/12/2019 10:47

Oh god, did ‘Annie Rose’ grow up to be a Kool-Aid-guzzling woke twat?

She was always dressed in pink dungarees while Alfie had a fair amount of brown & navy blue, so perhaps is pretty comfortable with gender stereotypes.

  • I bloody love the Alfie books really
Pinkarsedfly · 16/12/2019 10:51

Me too. Ruined forever now.

PJsatMidday · 16/12/2019 11:06

I didn't realise Shirley H based Annie Rose and Alfie on her own children. OK, that's ruined it for me too Sad

SisterWendyBuckett · 16/12/2019 11:49

Love Shirley Hughes books. Love the Ahlberg books.

Not going to let the unpleasant tantrumming of Clara spoil the happy memories of reading Shirley's books to my kids.

My now trans-identified daughter loved them. So many memories have been spoiled already by her insistence she was always trans that I refuse to let anything else be trashed.

Shirley Hughes did the illustrations for My Naughty Little Sister books, written by Dorothy Edwards. Books I adored as a child. Loved Bad Harry!

It's interesting that both Jessica Ahlberg and Clara Vulliamy are daughters of very successful, much loved authors/illustrators.

Both followed in their footsteps. Both claim that they have never felt in the shadow of their famous parents.

Maybe there's something else going on here for Clara!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 16/12/2019 11:52

I thought Clara had a trans child?

Clymene · 16/12/2019 11:59

I think she must do Countess. The background of her twitter profile is the trans flag but can't see anything else about her as obviously she's blocked me even though I have never had anything to do with her Confused

Natsku · 16/12/2019 12:00

I can't wait until my copy of the terrorist propaganda arrives in the post!

SisterWendyBuckett · 16/12/2019 12:06

Certainly puts a clearer light on it if Clara has a trans child.

It's incredibly hard and challenging for parents, whether you choose to affirm or try to support in other ways.

Doesn't mean you have to suspend your critical thinking, or use your media privilege to potentially destroy other people's careers.

Clymene · 16/12/2019 12:15

But even if she does have a trans child, there is nothing in this book which is remotely anti-trans. Nothing.

It is a delightful book about celebrating all the things bodies can do.

And I would challenge Clara or anyone else screaming at Rachel to explain exactly what their objections are because I suspect they won't be able to articulate them.

Kilbranan · 16/12/2019 12:21

Have just bought a copy and donation to round up to £10. Good reminder for me to do it - Streisand effect in action!

FTFOTFVille · 16/12/2019 12:38

Body positive book bad.
Drag Queen Story Time good.

Got it. Could not make it up.

PJsatMidday · 16/12/2019 12:52

Having a trans child is no excuse. You don't get to destroy somebody's career because you don't agree with them - this is a woman who has dedicated her life to working with children with SEN, ffs.

What is worse, Vulliamy will know full well that's it's not just Rooney's writing career that is at stake. Her career as a much needed educator may come under unfair scrutiny - she's been accused of terrorism, fgs, people have had the police called on them for much less. Not to mention the inevitable bodily harm threats that will come her way.

Vulliamy should be thoroughly ashamed of herself.

Galvantula · 16/12/2019 12:56

As far as I can tell, when challenged there are zero comments actually answering what their problem is with the book content itself. It's all whines about transgender trend and their "anti trans propaganda"

Also saying that trans kids are trans so suggesting they be happy in their body is wrong. Or something. 🤷🏼‍♀️

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 16/12/2019 12:57

But even if she does have a trans child, there is nothing in this book which is remotely anti-trans. Nothing.

Apparently it's not what's in the book. It's what it symbolises. It's that it's a Trojan horse to get the Transgender Trend name known and in schools Hmm

ThePurported · 16/12/2019 13:00

But even if she does have a trans child, there is nothing in this book which is remotely anti-trans. Nothing.

Vulliamy's objection to the book is that while it has a "seemingly wholesome" message, it is published by Transgender Trend.
TT advocates for watchful waiting, just as Mermaids did before Susie Green took over as CEO.
It's irrelevant whether Vulliamy has a trans child, she is mistaken about Transgender Trend. It is grotesque to call it a trans-hostile group.
