Often in interviews one reads that a now trans identified teen or adult felt they couldn't present or be a certain way; it was just not accepted by their parents /school / peers. This would undoubtedly be traumatic. With all the advances in mental health knowledge, shouldn't society be trying to eradicate the cause of this trauma: the rejection of the child for its personality. Instead it's like this trauma has been made sacrosanct, only the child must reject itself, its own body, in order to be acceptable.
I'm trying to think of anything analogous. Perhaps if I felt that my getting trauma informed care as an abuse survivor (difficult!) were contingent upon my promoting sexual assault as a right of passage for all teenage girls?
*NB I'm not equating trans identities with sexual abuse. I'm merely using an example close to me
