Sky News report on Tavistock

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/12/2019 06:47

I’m sitting watching a report on sky news about the Tavistock clinic and the impact of identification of trans on children. Finally a mainstream report giving a balanced view.

Out of the 20 psychologists contacted, 6 responded expressing concern with giving children hormonal treatments. news.sky.com/story/nhs-over-diagnosing-children-having-transgender-treatment-former-staff-warn-11875624 Only one clinician agreed to be interviewed and asked for their voice to be changed.

The full report is on sky news another 6 times today.

why does no one ever talk about sexual pleasure, or lack there of?

These children are making decisions at an age where many of them will react to the idea of sex with revulsion, which given their age is a reasonable response and one that is protective. So how can they possibly give consent about this? At best they can only ever have a vague abstract understanding that this is something adults enjoy.

My dsd who is on testosterone says it's easy to adopt a baby. Where are all these babies coming from. Delusional.

ChattyLion · 12/12/2019 11:31

Thanks for the link OP. Great this is being covered so fully.

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/12/2019 12:01

Mrskeats
That’s potentially really sad for her future self. How old is your dsd?

I would like to know if the young woman interviewed, who detransitioned will be able to bear children in the future if she wishes. I think this is a big missing part, which was left unsaid.

theflushedzebra
I don’t understand how someone with male genitalia can be born female. More obfuscation of the truth in a world, where this would never happen. No wonder children have unrealistic views and expectations of their future.

If anyone has any spades hanging about, Sue Evans, formerly of the Tavistock, is a bit of a Godsend right now (is that vague enough to not get deleted?)

littlbrowndog · 12/12/2019 12:34

Stella on now

EverardDigby · 12/12/2019 12:39

I swore blind I didn’t want children until I met DH and married at 30. I knew absolutely in my gut that there was no way I wanted them

I "knew" I didn't want kids till about the same age. Trauma-related for me that I'd had such a terrible childhood I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else. Actually having DD is the best thing I've ever done, and I'm a pretty good parent because of all the work I've done on myself. I also wanted to be a boy when I was younger.

littlbrowndog · 12/12/2019 12:43

If a child of 13 said they wanted their foot cut off people would be like oooh something very wrong here. They wouldn’t chop of their foot

Yet girls as young as 13 are having double mastectomy.

I really don’t understand why it is any different

LangCleg · 12/12/2019 12:46

Stella and Marcus Evans have both given very good live interviews.

Stella managed to point out lost orgasms. Marcus managed to get in co-morbidities and whole patient stuff.

somebrightmorning · 12/12/2019 13:00

placemarking. also troubled by the idea of politicians having to mask their voices.

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/12/2019 13:58

Drat I missed the interview. Should have been more careful to watch the time. Is there any way of watching it on catch up? I can’t find anything on my sky box....

somebright
What do you mean by politicians masking their voice on the subject?

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/12/2019 14:03

I also didn’t know if I wanted kids or not until my 30’s. For a long time, I actually wanted to have me as a baby and be the mummy I needed... I do wonder if I’d have been a candidate for rapid onset gender dysphoria. I was depressed, had no self esteem, didn’t have the concept of unconditional love and the household was very misogynistic so if I could have identified out of being female, it would have been a blessing.

These days many of the significant interviews and TV segments appear on youtube in a day or two Mummyoflittledragon.

Mummyoflittledragon · 12/12/2019 14:40

Fab thanks for the heads up. I’ll wait a couple of days and have a look.

One of the girls interviewed who has now detransitioned said that at the time she was being given hormones, she was expressing that she was so confused she felt her head would explode Her motivation seems to have been that she didn’t conform to conventional gender stereotypes and hence thought she couldn’t be female. Isn’t that an indictment of the rigid sex stereotypes which dominate contemporary culture? Especially for young girls?

ItsNearlyMorning · 12/12/2019 15:50

They have another segment on now.
A trans woman, who's a teacher saying children should not have blockers or hormones.
She is questioning why kids think they are trans and who is pandering too them and says we should be asking what is going on in these children's lives.
Sorry don't have time to find a link because I need to do my sons tube feed but they are awesome.
Can't accuse a trans woman of being transphobic!
Then we have a person called Jamie Windust, who is wearing drag queen makeup but a bald head and a suit.
Has the opposite opinion.

Twistables · 12/12/2019 16:00

The trans woman is Debbie Hayton. Does anyone have any links to the Stella O Malley piece or the Marcus Evans piece? I can't find them. Sky are clearly doing a day of it. This seems very important to me!

BovaryX · 12/12/2019 16:00

Debbie Hayton (?) was quite impressive.

I don’t think we should be providing this treatment to children at all. It’s an untested, uncontrolled experiment.... we’re saying you have a choice about going through puberty...Why are 3 and 4 year old identifying as trans? Why is it considered transphobic to ask what’s going on?

RedToothBrush · 12/12/2019 16:03

Nick Cohen FINALLY joins the club

Nick Cohen @nickcohen4
"We fear we have had front row seats to a medical scandal." Pscychiatry's history of using surgical intervention to treat mental conditions is appalling. After eugenics, forced sterilisation and lobotomies is transgender treatment next?

BovaryX · 12/12/2019 16:04

Jamie Windust

so many ways to be trans, you don’t have to medically transition and still be trans

What does trans actually mean in this context? Does it just mean nonconformist to sex stereotypes?

LemonGingerCakes · 12/12/2019 16:12

why does no one ever talk about sexual pleasure, or lack there of?

Because sex and children don’t mix, so the mere suggestion about talking about the child's future sex life is met with revulsion.

However, sterilisation, unnecessary operations, puberty blockers etc etc are cheered on.

I don’t know whether to be mad or sad.

rodgmum · 12/12/2019 16:15

I really like Debbie Hayton. She’s great on Twitter- always calm and measured- but she gets so much hate from the trans movement and pretty much all her tweets end up getting reported.

ArnoldWhatshisknickers · 12/12/2019 16:15

Good to see Nick Cohen tell the truth about trans ideology.

Even if certain websites do remove my posts for saying the same the truth of this scandal will come out and those who were complicit in it from academics to activists, journalists to teachers, surgeons to websites will not be able to hide and pretend they 'didn't know'.

You do know. You choose to support.

MockersFactCheckMN · 12/12/2019 16:18

Post-Murdoch Sky gets better and better.

If only they could lose Kay Burley.

She was impressive. She cited the demographic anomaly about why it’s suddenly girls in unprecedented numbers. She said

Children who are perhaps believing in the tooth fairy are believing they’re the opposite sex. She asked the questions that can’t be easily answered but absolutely must be discussed. No wonder the trans lobby hate her
