They've apologised, withdrawn the guidance but still won't do anything to tackle the need for female only HCP when they're prevented from doing this due to the right to privacy a GRC grants to a TW. Women's right to privacy & informed consent seems to be an inconvenience.

Agreed. And now debate is finally getting underway, this will get talked about.

FlyingOink · 10/12/2019 15:32

I have deleted this thread. I'd rather not be associated with the story.
Thank you for all the work you have been doing.

Good quote from Katherine Stock here.

What gets me is there is a clear case for single sex exemptions here. Those are in the equalities act to recognise the fact their is a rights clash. Instead they frame it like women in this position are just like racists asking for a white person. Nice. Bunch of ✊🍆💦

It needs to go to court.

PencilsInSpace · 11/12/2019 08:05

Yes it needs to go to court.

I very much hope Clare takes further action on this.

I would take Womb's comment and take it a step further. I think that most women who are aware of the fetish feel the same way. I think that those women not aware of the fetish, if they become aware of it after submitting to treatment that they were essentially coerced into via appeals to kindness and nondiscrimination, would feel not only angry but also violated. And I believe that there will be some at the NHS trust in Brighton who already know that and chose to implement the policy anyway.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 11/12/2019 08:52

In other words, I think that the natural assumption of kind people is that those implementing these policies, or creating them, are simply clueless and/or lacking in empathy and have no idea what they're imposing on women. I don't think that's true. I think many know and regard the trauma that the policies will inflict as just punishment for women's unwillingness to serve as passive vessels designed to enhance the lives of others.

Chilling - again I'm reminded of how much some men hate us

(Waves at monitors - I'm sure the fingers are just twitching to report at all the visible noncompliance on this thread.)

LangCleg · 11/12/2019 09:40

I would donate the fuck out of a judicial review on this.

Hi monitors. Yes. Yes, I would.

Uncompromisingwoman · 11/12/2019 09:49

Hopefully a complaint will be made to the Information Commissioner GDPR as evidently someone has not only accessed her medical notes inappropriately but has shared information from them with others?

PencilsInSpace · 11/12/2019 12:00

I would donate the fuck out of a judicial review on this.

Me too.

And yes, we should add at least one GDPR breach to the list, which could also make this a matter of criminal law.

littlbrowndog · 11/12/2019 12:05

I wish I could find the report that said the number of sexual assaults and rapes in health services has risen dramatically

Will keep looking
