Ashlee Evans Smith defeats Fallon Fox

(Warning: potentially upsetting/violence)

This is a clip of a female MMA fighter taking on Fallon Fox (male born and bred, transitioned as a mature adult).

Yes, Ashlee defeats Fox, but I found it really quite distressing to watch a male sexed person deliberately getting in the ring to purposely try and beat the shit out of a woman. (And the breathy little girl voice at the start completely assuming the win is a foregone conclusion too.)

I felt like every single one of Ashlee's punches was saying "Fuck you. This is for every woman who has been hurt by male violence"

Ashlee was fantastic especially saying that Fallon had ana advantage. The crowd were clearly supporting only one of the fighters - they knew what was fair.

I'm glad the transgender athlete was called out and has now retired. Should never have happened though.

Oh, that wasn't on the clip I watched. Will watch this one later.

There is discussion on Facebook as to whether Fox deliberately lost to prove that TW don't always win and don't always have an advantage

I don't know why these TW &TRAs bother with this silly argument. It is not in dispute that males (including "fully transitioned" transwomen) have physical advantages over females due to male puberty.

If a woman can beat a male, that just means the male isn't very good. It doesn't mean there is no advantage. They're still cheating, even if they are shit at it.

Fallon Fox hasn't retired.

I just had a regrettable impulse to check Fox's Wiki, which uses the phrase ".... Is the first openly transgender athlete in MMA history"

Uhhh, no FF was NOT "openly transgender" until it was discovered by a journalist. They fought against many women who had no idea they were fighting a male person, actually.

Qcng · 04/12/2019 09:46

I believe the cyclepath deliberately lost a race recently though, to "prove" something, so it's not beyond possibility that FF didn't try hard enough on purpose.
This is the first fight they have lost.

SarahTancredi · 04/12/2019 09:55

Why on earth was ff crying after 🙄 didn't seem to find it "so hard " when they smashed that other woman's face ...

Cheat.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 04/12/2019 09:59

Sarah because that what girlie lady types do when they lose.

We go all faint and weep uncontrollably, and talk in an affected high pitched tone

It's only ladylike...

Why on earth was ff crying after because women cry, you silly thing. We all know women are soft and sentimental, even if they’ve a male body and use their male advantages to beat the shit out of actual women. Womanly feelings..innit.

SarahTancredi · 04/12/2019 10:04

And there was me thinking it was the same kind of "embarrassment and anger" felt by XY humans when they are beaten by girls and everyone's laughing at them.

Naughty Sarah

I noticed how even the coach straight away adopted victim status too.

Well I have been mistaken for a man in a few occasions.

Perhaps i should be more offended?

SapphosRock · 04/12/2019 10:12

Definitely retired. Their Twitter states 'former professional MMA fighter'

The clip shared by the OP was back in 2013 and FF wasn't 'out' as trans. When it was discovered all hell broke loose.

I vaguely remember the controversy - there's quite an interesting article on it here:

CuriousaboutSamphire · 04/12/2019 10:15

That would make you a Snowflake Woke Bro.... wouldn't it?

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 04/12/2019 10:32

I have in the past watched a fair bit of MMA.

What stands out to me is that Smith's face is swollen at the end. Fox's isn't at all, despite Smith repeatedly 'ground and pounding'. I think that that is a pretty stark illustration of the difference in strength.

Having said that, what was Fallon doing at the end there - didn't seem to be trying at all.

PreseaCombatir · 04/12/2019 11:12

I like the ref. When the coach was saying he’s complaining, he literally waves his hand and turns his back. And when they announced Ashlee won, the smile on his face. Because he knew

NellieEllie · 04/12/2019 12:02

I have no idea what sport this was. But it reminded me of old fashioned British wrestling in that it was utterly unconvincing. When Ashlee was punching Fox on the ground it was clearly not full strength. Fox at several points just looked like they weren’t trying.

To the TRAs trying to Teflon-shoulder this one on Twitter by claiming MMA is a bad thing anyway.... The issue here is male people in any female sport. Its consequences are just more extreme here. Not only does the male-bodied person* win, they can hurt their opponent far more than is usual in the sport.
